Chloe Sinclair understood.

Although the medicine in Zenthia was cheaper, its efficacy was still far from what it was in her past life.

Most importantly, the pharmaceutical market wasn’t as strictly regulated as it had been in her past life, making it incredibly difficult to even buy the medicine.

A single bottle of medicine costing 37,000 was almost half a year’s savings for an average family. For a poor family, such a price was completely unaffordable.

Worst of all, a patient might need one, two, or even three boxes of this medicine a month.

"Eight, I suddenly have an idea for something new to research."

She wanted the patients of Zenthia to have medicine to take, and to be able to afford it.

"Tens of millions of people in Zenthia are diagnosed with cancer every year, and the mortality rate is terrifyingly high. If I could develop a new drug to control the progression of the disease, couldn’t I give them new hope to live?"

She wasn’t the most renowned doctor; she couldn’t create a miracle cure.

Drug research was a lengthy process, meant to treat both symptoms and the root cause, but for patients hovering on the brink of death every day, it represented a new hope.

Time was a life-saving medicine.

Eight was a little confused. "Don’t you humans often say that birth, aging, sickness, and death are all a natural part of life?"

"But humans have a powerful will to survive. They don’t just fight against fate and nature, they also have to fight against themselves."

"In this world, some people get to die of natural causes. But some people get sick in their teens, and some babies are born with AIDS from their mothers. Eight, that isn’t a natural part of life."

"Since they were brought into this world, they have the right to fight against that fate, to fight against nature."

"Everyone has the right to live."

After hearing this, Eight was silent for a long time.

Finally, it said, "Human emotions are so complicated. But since you’ve made your decision, Master, Eight will definitely support you!"

Faced with such a thoughtful little assistant, Chloe Sinclair let out a long sigh of relief.

"Thank you, Eight."

After exiting the system, Chloe Sinclair gave the matter some serious thought.

The promise she had made wasn’t born from a mere fit of passion.

However, developing a new drug was an extremely long process.

To create pharmaceuticals, she would need a biological research institute and all the necessary permits.

The tasks were numerous and tedious, so Chloe Sinclair made a list.

At four in the morning, Chloe Sinclair was still working on her plan.

"Master, why don’t you rest for a bit? After all, it’s not like you can develop a drug in a day or two."

Chloe Sinclair shook her head. "There’s just a little more. I’ll finish this first."

As she spoke, Chloe Sinclair scribbled down several more lines.

Only after finishing the plan did Chloe Sinclair feel her eyes growing dry. Her body and mind relaxed in an instant, and a wave of exhaustion washed over her.

Fortunately, the preliminary theoretical work was complete.

After tidying her desk, Chloe Sinclair collapsed onto her bed, pulled the thick comforter over herself, and was asleep in moments.

The next day, Chloe Sinclair went out by herself.

The previous night, she had decided to recruit a few biopharmaceutical staff for her institute, so she had posted the job listing overnight.

The salary Chloe Sinclair listed in the online job posting wasn’t high. She had assumed it would take some time to find anyone, but she never expected to receive a call the very next day.

She initially mistook it for a scam call and didn’t manage to answer before it disconnected.

But a second later, the person persistently called back.

When Chloe Sinclair heard what the caller wanted, she was slightly surprised.

After all, she had posted the job listing less than five hours ago.

So, the two of them arranged to meet for an interview at a coffee shop.

The interviewee was a man named Aaron Archer, a recent graduate from Kennet University.
