Chapter 382 - 471: This Might Not Work
Jasper Shaw was surprisingly adaptable. Even after eating from a street stall, he still seemed to want more.
As they were leaving, Chloe Sinclair could tell Jasper Shaw was a little disappointed he hadn’t gotten to try the crayfish they saw earlier.
After a moment’s thought, Chloe Sinclair said, "How about this? When we have some free time, I’ll buy some crayfish, and we can cook them ourselves."
Jasper Shaw froze for a second, then nodded, but corrected her, "I’ll cook. You can rest."
Chloe Sinclair didn’t need to do a thing.
He was willing to do anything and everything for Chloe Sinclair.
Chloe Sinclair stopped in her tracks and suddenly asked, "Then who’s going to mop the floors?"
"Me?"
"Who’s going to wash the dishes?"
"I will."
"And who’s going to have the baby?"
"I will—"
Jasper Shaw paused, his face flushing red. "That... might not be possible."
The technology for men to give birth doesn’t exist yet.
But the thought that Chloe Sinclair was willing to have his baby made Jasper Shaw’s heart POUND.
Seeing Jasper’s expression, Chloe Sinclair burst out laughing.
She teased, "Who said anything about having your baby!"
It was just a joke, but Jasper Shaw thought about it seriously. "It’s better not to have kids," he said.
’A kid would just compete with me for her, and for her attention.’
’Whether it’s a sweet little girl or a little terror, I definitely don’t want one.’
Jasper Shaw’s words were rather childish. Chloe Sinclair rolled her eyes, deciding not to pursue the topic any further.
’If we keep talking about this,’ she thought, ’he’ll probably have the rest of our lives planned out in the next five minutes.’
So she changed the subject. "I’ve already told my family about us."
Hearing this, Jasper Shaw felt a phantom sting on his face.
He was suddenly reminded of a few days ago, when the three Sinclair brothers had stormed into his office and beaten him up. On top of that, his father-in-law had sent him a three-thousand-word tirade on WeChat before blocking him.
’I’m probably still blocked.’
"When can I visit?"
For some reason, Chloe Sinclair heard a plaintive note in Jasper’s voice.
She paused for a second. "How about for the New Year? We can all celebrate together as a family."
It had been a very, very long time since her whole family had been together for the New Year.
Fearing Jasper might be nervous, she said earnestly, "Don’t worry. My dad and brothers respect my choices. They’ll definitely respect you, too."
Jasper Shaw gave a bitter smile.
"Okay. I’ll be sure to prepare properly."
Jasper hadn’t driven his own car, so Chloe Sinclair dropped him off at his villa.
As they said goodbye, Jasper Shaw leaned down, his handsome face filled with solemn concern. "Drive safe," he said earnestly. "And text me when you get home."
Chloe Sinclair nodded.
Eight, who had been quiet in the system until now, suddenly piped up, "Drive safe. Don’t get into a car crash."
A vein throbbed on Chloe Sinclair’s temple. She didn’t want to deal with this jinx.
But to her surprise, Eight’s words came true.
Just a moment ago, she’d been rear-ended!
A loud CRASH made her jump.
Having never been in this situation before, Chloe Sinclair froze for a moment before preparing to get out and assess the damage.
Meanwhile, Eight was gloating in the system.
"I told you to be careful, but you got mad at me instead. Hmph!"
Chloe Sinclair couldn’t take it anymore. "Shut up, Little Crow!"
Eight paused, confused. "Little Crow?"
"You and your jinx-beak!"
Eight instantly understood that Chloe Sinclair had given it an ugly nickname. In its anger, it immediately tried to shift the blame to Jasper Shaw.
Chloe Sinclair scoffed. "If Jasper knew you existed, he’d tear you to shreds!"
