Chapter 410 - 399: Okay, Brother-in-law
Audience engagement remained high after the New Year.
The day before the press conference, Chloe Sinclair and Gabriel Sinclair both posted announcements on Weibo. That same day, the press conference for Rivers and Mountains was already a trending topic.
The venue was set up for three hundred people and over one hundred reporters.
At four in the afternoon, everyone began to file in.
Chloe Sinclair wore a white, strapless gown. Tiny diamonds were embedded between the bodice and the gauze of the skirt, sparkling translucently under the white lights.
The host didn’t give Chloe Sinclair a hard time, and everyone handled the proceedings with ease.
As soon as the press conference ended, Chloe Sinclair changed into a tracksuit and hurriedly prepared to head back to the lab.
But just as she stepped out of the studio, Gabriel Sinclair called out to her.
Chloe Sinclair turned around. "Bro, what’s up?"
"There’s a variety show filming in the countryside in two weeks. Interested in going?"
Chloe Sinclair thought for a moment about what Gabriel had said, then asked, "Is it the variety show Country Life?"
Gabriel Sinclair was surprised Chloe actually knew about it, and he nodded. "That’s the one."
He hadn’t really gotten his hopes up.
After all, Chloe had been rushing off to the lab so often lately, he figured she wouldn’t have time for any variety shows.
"I’ll go."
"It’s okay if you don’t go, really. You’re so busy right now—"
Gabriel Sinclair froze, staring in astonishment as his voice suddenly shot up. "What? You’ll go?!?"
"Yeah, I’ll go."
Although she was very busy, Chloe remembered that Nina Sinclair was supposed to participate in this show.
It was something from her past life. And even though Nina was practically blacklisted now, in that past life, Country Life had been the start of her brother’s sad retreat from the entertainment world. Whether Nina came or not, she had to go.
It looked like she had given her brother quite a fright, though.
Chloe Sinclair knew she couldn’t offer a clear explanation, and thankfully, Gabriel Sinclair didn’t press for one.
As she was about to leave, Gabriel put a hand on Chloe’s shoulder and said happily, "Alright, I’ll come get you when the time comes. I’ll send you the shooting schedule and some of the scripts in a bit."
Then, worried she might be nervous, he added, "Don’t worry, they’re not really scripts. They’re just some segments the production team designed to create buzz. You won’t have to memorize any lines."
Country Life strives to portray modern rural life authentically, so there aren’t many restrictions on the cast.
Chloe Sinclair nodded. "Okay, send the scripts to my email."
"Mm, I’ll walk you out."
As he said this, Gabriel suddenly spotted a man in a long, black trench coat standing at the TV station’s main entrance and instantly fell silent.
"Never mind, never mind. It’s bad enough your brother works like a dog every day, but now I have to get a face full of your PDA too."
he said, putting on a heartbroken expression.
Chloe Sinclair didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
"Bro, be safe on your way back. Make sure you get more rest, and don’t work yourself into the ground."
Chloe Sinclair knew that Gabriel was preparing for a concert. On top of filming every day, he was also practicing his singing late into the night.
This time she saw him, it was clear he wasn’t looking well.
Hearing his sister’s concern for his health, Gabriel sniffled, touched.
"Alright, I know."
With that, Gabriel raised his eyebrows, looked toward Jasper Shaw standing not far away, and called out, "Hey! I’m entrusting my sister to you! Drive carefully on the way back, and watch out for those pesky reporters!"
Jasper Shaw nodded. "Got it, little brother-in-law."
Gabriel Sinclair: "..."
Pah! Pah! Pah!
