Chapter 399 - 212: The ’Equipment’ Is Quite Complete

"Alright, let’s go with this hotel," Su Chen agreed. He also wanted to see what was so different about it.

Upon hearing this, Chen Fei immediately started the car and headed toward the Ritz-Carlton Hotel on Dagu North Road.

The nightscape of Tianjin was quite beautiful, with its glittering skyscrapers.

"Hm? What’s that?" Just as the car drove onto a bridge, Su Chen spotted a massive circular structure in the distance, spanning the Hai River. Its twinkling lights were a beautiful sight.

Chen Fei glanced to the side and said with a smile, "Sir, that’s Tianjin’s most famous landmark, the Tianjin Eye Ferris wheel. It’s also a legendary tourist attraction."

Su Chen could clearly read between the lines. ’It seems the Tianjin Eye has quite a few stories behind it.’

"So, what’s the story?"

"Ahem." Chen Fei cleared his throat. "There’s a rather bizarre rumor about the Tianjin Eye. It’s said that any couple who visits it will break up not long after they get back."

"For real?" Su Chen was stunned. ’Aren’t Ferris wheels supposed to be symbols of romance and happiness, the perfect place for a date?’

’Just imagine: a man and a woman, alone in a small, enclosed space. As the Ferris wheel slowly ascends, their emotions are bound to overflow, and they won’t be able to resist kissing.’

’So how did the Tianjin Eye become Breakup Central...?’

Su Chen glanced at the Tianjin Eye, which was about to disappear from view, and silently filed the rumor away in his mind. ’Note to self: don’t bring a girlfriend here.’

Soon, they arrived on Dagu North Road, where the Ritz-Carlton Hotel was located. Gazing at the illuminated, palace-like structure before him, Su Chen nodded in satisfaction.

The service was impeccable. The moment the car came to a stop, a doorman was already there to open the rear door.

"Welcome to the Ritz-Carlton Hotel!"

The entrance to the Tianjin Ritz-Carlton Hotel was different from other five-star hotels. It wasn’t a revolving door or an automatic glass one, but a pair of single doors that were opened by an attendant.

However, it didn’t leave a great impression on Su Chen. The reason being... the opening was too small, just wide enough for one person to pass through, which felt a bit petty.

’Anyone who didn’t know better might think you couldn’t afford a high-end room and were being forced to use a side entrance.’

As soon as they entered the lobby, a concierge escorted the two of them to the front desk. Maybe it was due to the Ritz-Carlton’s fame, but there was actually a line.

It wasn’t a long line—just four or five people.

The front desk staff worked quickly, and after a wait of about two minutes, it was finally their turn.

"Hello, sir. What kind of room are you looking for?" the receptionist asked with a pleasant smile, the corners of her lips turned up just so, creating a very welcoming feel.

Standing to the side, Chen Fei interjected, "What rooms do you have available? We want the best."

A flicker of surprise crossed the receptionist’s eyes. As a member of the Ritz-Carlton’s front desk staff, she had served hundreds, if not thousands, of guests and had seen her fair share of important people.

Based on Chen Fei’s attitude and posture, he seemed like a driver or a bodyguard. She stole a discreet glance at Su Chen, who was busy examining the lobby’s layout, and guessed that he must be someone important.

"We currently have one Victoria Suite available. It’s 175 square meters and features two bedrooms, a scenic balcony, a separate study, and a walk-in closet. Both bedrooms have private en-suite bathrooms."

"Would that be satisfactory, sirs?" the receptionist asked, her tone slightly more deferential.

Su Chen stopped surveying the lobby and turned his calm gaze to the receptionist. "We’ll take the Victoria Suite. How much is it?"

"How long will you be staying, sirs? The Victoria Suite is 18,800 a night."

At this, Su Chen nodded slightly. Having stayed at the Ritz-Carlton many times before, he was familiar with their pricing. The top-tier suites generally ranged from 13,000 to 20,000, so even with slight variations, the price wouldn’t be much higher.

Just as Su Chen and Chen Fei were about to pull out their IDs to check in, a somewhat arrogant voice sounded from behind them.

"We’ll be taking that Victoria Suite. I’m a Platinum member of the Ritz-Carlton; I have priority!"

He turned to see a fashionably dressed middle-aged woman carrying an LV Rose des Vents bag. She was well-maintained, looking as if she were only in her thirties.

Interestingly, she had her arm linked with a handsome, slender young man who looked to be in his early twenties. He clearly worked out regularly, judging by the visible muscles on his arms.

’A rich older woman out on the town with her boy toy?’ That was Su Chen’s first impression of the pair.

The wealthy woman strode to the counter, pulled a card from her LV Rose des Vents bag, and handed it to the receptionist. "The Victoria Suite. Two nights."

She didn’t spare Su Chen and Chen Fei a single glance. Her blatant arrogance piqued Su Chen’s interest. ’What’s backing her up that makes her so willing to make enemies?’

’Thinking with her hormones? No... it’s more like her brain’s been completely taken over by lust. Why else would she needlessly provoke someone who can casually book a room that costs almost 20,000?’

Staring at the proffered Platinum member card, the receptionist froze, unsure of what to do. ’Should I take it or not?’

Seeing the receptionist’s hesitation, the rich woman’s brow furrowed instantly. Just as she was about to erupt, the young man beside her spoke.

It would have been fine if he’d kept quiet, but the moment he opened his mouth, a shiver went down the spines of both Su Chen and Chen Fei. They could feel goosebumps prickling their skin.
