But even though they recognized Elder Xiao, they didn’t grant him entry. They just waited quietly for Xiao Chen to arrive.

At this, Elder Xiao nodded in satisfaction.

As for Su Chen, he just watched in silence. ’What could I possibly say in a situation like this?’ He could only focus on being a proper driver.

After less than a minute, a tour cart sped toward the gate. The one driving was none other than Xiao Chen. He was dressed in an unmarked combat suit and wore a half-face mask, as if afraid of being recognized.

Seeing Xiao Chen arrive, the gate guards all returned to their respective posts.

"Elder, why did you come in person!" Xiao Chen was extremely shocked by Elder Xiao’s appearance.

Elder Xiao didn’t answer his question. Instead, he asked him, "Have you been inside to see it?"

Hearing this, Xiao Chen’s pupils contracted. He naturally knew what the elder was asking about. He never would have imagined that the research institute would house *that thing*.

When he saw the super-miniature nuclear reactor, even a veteran like him, who had been through hails of gunfire, was left speechless for a long time. After a brief introduction from Chen Fei, he finally understood why his elder had arranged for him to bring men here.

"I’ve seen it. Chen Fei took me to see it at the time." After speaking, Xiao Chen seemed to remember something and quickly added, "Only I went inside. No one else did."

Hearing this, Elder Xiao gave a slight nod. "Get in the car."

Xiao Chen went straight to the second row of the tour cart and lightly tapped his fist on Su Chen’s shoulder, muttering quietly, "You’re really something else, kid. You even got a guy like me mobilized just to watch the gate."

Previously, after finding out what was inside the research institute, Xiao Chen had cursed Su Chen out in his head. To think he had quietly created something so world-shaking; it had given Xiao Chen such a shock that his heart still hadn’t calmed down.

A wry smile appeared on Su Chen’s face. "You think I wanted to make such a big scene?"

Soon, the tour cart entered the interior of the research base. Professor Chen’s laboratory was located in the middle-to-rear section of the entire base, and it took several turns to reach their destination.

The entrance to the laboratory had already been cordoned off by Xiao Chen’s men. As Su Chen and the others entered, they were scanned by security personnel with a device similar to those used at airport security checkpoints.

Even Elder Xiao was no exception; he too was checked meticulously before being allowed to enter.

This was Su Chen’s first time inside the laboratory, and he was quite curious. He glanced around but didn’t see anything out of the ordinary.

Led by Xiao Chen, they took an elevator down to the first basement level. As soon as they stepped out of the elevator, they saw a massive glass wall. Through it, they could see into the laboratory, where numerous researchers in white lab coats were busy at work.

Inside the laboratory was another thick glass wall. From where they stood, they could just barely make out a flashing light within. Su Chen guessed that this must be the super-miniature nuclear reactor Professor Chen had told him about.

A bright light also shone in Elder Xiao’s eyes, and his hands, at some point, had clenched into fists. He was not nearly as calm as he appeared.

The arrival of Su Chen and the others naturally drew the attention of those inside the laboratory. When Professor Chen saw Su Chen, he said a few words to his assistant, then opened the door and walked out.
