From Wage Slave to Tycoon

Su Chen had previously left the research park with over 900 million in liquid capital. However, the research base had recently spent a large sum of money purchasing a great deal of equipment, various materials, and constructing dormitories for the park. Now, the park’s accounts only had a little over 100 million left.

Xiao Peng was worried that the lack of funds would affect the normal progress of the research projects, so he decided to call Su Chen and ask for more money.

"Insufficient funds?" Su Chen had thought there might have been an accident with the research or a personnel issue; he never expected the problem to be about money.

"Didn’t I leave the park with over 900 million? And I told Pei Rang to transfer a few hundred million over from Yunmengze Capital later. Don’t tell me it’s all been used up?"

Su Chen was a bit baffled. ’Even if those projects required a lot of money in the early stages, it shouldn’t have been spent this quickly.’

As for the possibility of Xiao Peng or his subordinates embezzling funds, the thought hadn’t even crossed Su Chen’s mind. He was confident his people wouldn’t dare do such a thing.

Hearing this, Xiao Peng was also baffled. Pei Rang hadn’t transferred any money over at all. ’Could there have been a mistake somewhere?’

When Su Chen heard that Pei Rang hadn’t transferred the promised funds, he grew suspicious. ’Could Pei Rang have forgotten?’

After a moment of thought, Su Chen asked, "How much money does the park have right now?"

"The park has a little over 100 million at the moment. It should be enough for now, as long as no projects need to buy more materials or equipment!" Xiao Peng answered honestly.

"Alright~ I get it. We’ll talk about the funding after I return to the country."

’The park probably won’t need to spend much more money for the time being.’ He had just learned from Xiao Peng that several projects had already purchased a lot of equipment and materials. ’They must have bought everything that was planned; otherwise, they wouldn’t have spent so much money.’

After hanging up, Su Chen thought for a moment and decided to call Pei Rang to ask what was going on.

Unexpectedly, the phone had barely rung twice before Pei Rang picked up.

Su Chen was in no mood for small talk and got straight to the point, asking about the funds.

He quickly learned the whole story from Pei Rang.

It turned out that the several hundred million he had given Yunmengze before the New Year had all been invested in the stock market. Pei Rang had planned to make a killing around the holiday period.

And just as Pei Rang had expected, in less than two months, Yunmengze Capital’s liquid assets had soared to as high as 1.3 billion.

A few days ago, Pei Rang had already pulled the funds out of the stock market, preparing to transfer a portion to the Zheng Island research park. But things went sideways because of the valuable technology Su Chen had given him back in Shanghai.

After returning, Pei Rang immediately studied the materials and discovered the technology within was extremely advanced; much of the domestic technology hadn’t reached the level described in the documents.

Pei Rang made a decision on the spot: put this technology into practical production as quickly as possible. And so began a massive buying spree!

Acquiring companies they needed but didn’t own, expanding the factories of the group’s subsidiary companies, and purchasing all sorts of necessary facilities and equipment!

These past few days, Pei Rang had been so busy he was only sleeping a few hours a night, which was why he was in a state where he would basically answer Su Chen’s calls instantly.

After hearing all this, the trace of anger in Su Chen’s heart vanished without a trace. With such an enterprising manager, he was overjoyed; how could he possibly reprimand him?

After offering some encouragement, Su Chen didn’t disturb Pei Rang’s rest any further and promptly hung up the phone.

Su Chen sat back down in his chair. He knew this incident was basically a big misunderstanding, but it also taught him a lesson: the information between his various companies and groups wasn’t synchronized.

An idea suddenly came to him: he should consolidate all the industries currently under his control. This would save a lot of trouble in the future, whether for transferring funds or reassigning personnel.

After spending half an hour in the back garden, Su Chen had a rough plan in mind. All that was left was to discuss its feasibility with Pei Rang and the others after he returned to the country.

After messing around at the villa for two days, Su Chen finally saw Arthur, who had come to visit in person.

Although all the patents for Longteng Technology and the new tech were in the hands of Morgan and BlackRock, the relevant details still needed to be hammered out to avoid creating competition within the industry.

This discussion had dragged on for two days. Every day, listening to the arguments between his executives and the people from BlackRock, Arthur felt like there were thousands of bees buzzing around his ears.

If this task hadn’t been a major focus for his family, and if it didn’t affect his future standing within it, he would have loved to just wash his hands of the whole thing and let his subordinates handle it.

"So, shall we head out now?" Su Chen asked, sitting down.

He couldn’t figure out why Arthur had made a special trip to the villa. Couldn’t he have just called to say things were done?

Hearing Su Chen’s question, Arthur gave an embarrassed smile. "After trying that all-fish banquet you prepared with all those different cooking methods, I went out and tried some Cantonese food these past two days, but it was nothing like what we ate that day."
