Chapter 212 - 145: Going Home Early
"I’m in about the same boat. My mom needs to go back and prepare for all the ceremonies!" Qin Nan chimed in.
"Oh, I thought it was something serious. Just go back then. As for the filming, we can just continue after the New Year." Su Qingya knew they were worried about their future filming plans.
They had, after all, made a short-term plan to film ten videos promoting Hanfu before the New Year. If they went back now, they would have to put it on hold for the time being.
Wang Yue put her arms around their shoulders and said, "Nannan, Yaya, promoting Hanfu culture isn’t something that shows results overnight. You’ve seen the comments—hardly anyone is paying attention to Hanfu. So don’t put too much pressure on yourselves. We still have a long road ahead of us!"
Hearing this, the worried expressions on their faces eased considerably.
"Alright, let’s go back to the dorm and pack!"
...............
The dried seafood market on Jiangyang North Road was massive—a full three stories tall, all dedicated to the wholesale dried goods business.
After walking around for two laps and using good cigarettes to pave the way, he managed to buy a good number of rare dried goods.
He bought over a dozen portions of everything: things like dried two-head abalone from Australia—not the top-tier ten-year-old kind, but close enough at seven or eight years—as well as fish maw, dried sea cucumber, fish bladders, dried scallops, and so on. He also picked up some mountain delicacies and saffron. In total, Su Chen spent a whopping one million, eight hundred and fifty thousand yuan!
He even had to call a delivery truck when leaving the market, since his Rolls-Royce couldn’t possibly hold so many things.
"Sir, I’ll head back with the delivery truck then," Chen Fei said as he handed over the car keys.
Su Chen took the keys and waved his hand. "Alright, you can go. I’ll just drive myself back later!"
Watching the truck drive away, Su Chen hummed a tune as he walked toward the parking lot. He had just opened the car door and sat down when he got a call from Su Qingya, asking him to come pick her up at Shanghai University.
By the time Su Chen arrived at the women’s dormitory, he saw three people standing downstairs with their suitcases, chatting happily.
Seeing Su Chen’s car pull up in front of them, Su Qingya smiled and called out, "Bro!"
Even Qin Nan and Zhao Ya followed suit.
"Hm? You’re all heading back already?" Su Chen asked, a bit confused. He remembered them saying last time that they planned to stay a while longer. Why were they all preparing to leave after just two days?
"Yeah, our families called and are rushing us to come home," Zhao Ya said, a little unhappily.
Su Chen nodded in understanding. ’It’s true, families do worry when their daughters are out on their own.’ After asking and finding out that both Qin Nan and Zhao Ya were heading to Hongqiao Airport, he lifted all three of their suitcases into the trunk.
Fortunately, their suitcases were all small, and he could just barely fit all three by standing them upright.
The mood was cheerful on the way there, full of laughter and conversation. They even shared their progress on Douyin with Su Chen.
Su Chen hadn’t expected them to achieve so much in just a few short days. He even took a moment at a red light to watch one of the videos. When he saw Zhao Ya in her horse-face skirt and read some of the comments...
He could deeply understand the mentality of those pervs. If it were his past self, he wouldn’t have been much better than the people leaving those comments.
After dropping them at the airport, Su Qingya chatted with her two friends at the entrance for a long while before reluctantly waving goodbye and watching them go inside.
"Bro, when are we going back to Wudu?" Su Qingya asked curiously as soon as she got in the car.
Su Chen paused for a moment, thinking... ’Seems like we could go back today. I’ve finished up everything in Shanghai, and I’ve even bought plenty of New Year’s goods.’
"We’ll go back today!"
Su Chen immediately picked up his phone and called Chen Fei, telling him to take the delivery truck directly to the business airport.
Su Qingya listened from the side, completely bewildered. Dried goods, business airport... for a moment, she couldn’t make heads or tails of it.
"Bro, aren’t we going to the airport to buy tickets?"
A mischievous smile crossed Su Chen’s lips. "Nope. We’ll be departing directly from the business airport!"
Although Su Qingya didn’t understand what a "business airport" was, she knew her big brother would definitely have everything arranged.
After about half an hour, Chen Fei arrived at the entrance of the business airport in the small delivery truck. Under Su Chen’s direction, they drove right in.
Su Qingya was like a curious child, staring through the car window at the rows of small private jets parked outside. "Bro, why are the planes here so small?" she said in amazement. "I thought planes were supposed to be huge!"
"Those are business private jets, the kind that only carry a few people."
"Private jets, huh? Isn’t that the preferred mode of transport for rich people in novels?" As soon as Su Qingya said it, she realized something was off. Weren’t they in the business jet area right now...?
Putting that together with the delivery truck following them, even a fool would have figured it out by now.
"Bro... no way. Are we taking a private jet?!"
Su Chen was about to nod, but Su Qingya’s next words nearly made him slam on the gas.
"Bro, do you have so much money you don’t know what to do with it? You actually spent hundreds of thousands to charter a plane home!"
In Su Qingya’s mind, Su Chen was just that kind of spendthrift.
Soon, both vehicles pulled to a stop in front of a large private jet. When Su Qingya got out of the car, she saw several flight attendants walking over to the back of the delivery truck to help unload.
"Bro, this charter service really is different, huh? Even the flight attendants are coming down to help. Hmm, this money was kind of worth it!" Su Qingya whispered as she sidled up to Su Chen.
"Who told you I chartered this plane?" Su Chen said before striding onto the aircraft.
Su Qingya stood frozen on the spot, one sentence echoing in her mind: ’This isn’t a charter!’
After a good while, Su Qingya finally snapped back to reality. By then, Su Chen had already disappeared into the cabin.
’Don’t tell me this is Bro’s private jet!’ Full of doubt and shock, she hurried aboard.
The moment she stepped into the cabin, Su Qingya was captivated by the interior decor. She looked left and right, and it was only after a while that she remembered the important matter at hand. She walked over, sat down next to Su Chen, and asked excitedly, "Bro, is this private jet yours?"
Hearing this, Su Chen shrugged. "What do you think?"
"Woohoo! Bro, you’re seriously amazing!" Su Qingya shot to her feet and started snapping photos wildly with her phone.
Just then, Chen Fei walked over. "Sir, all the New Year’s goods you purchased have been loaded."
After speaking... Chen Fei looked like he had something more to say but was hesitating.
"If there’s something else, just say it," Su Chen said, glancing at Chen Fei.
Chen Fei hesitated for a moment before saying, "Sir, if you give me the car keys, I’ll drive the car back."
Hearing this, how could Su Chen not know what he was plotting? He was simply afraid that Su Chen would actually arrange for the private jet to fly him back to his hometown.
The business airport has a dedicated internal parking lot, so owners can just leave their cars there. Chen Fei’s offer to drive the car back was just an excuse he’d come up with.
"You..."
Su Chen shook his head helplessly, but ultimately handed him the car keys.
Chen Fei took the keys and chuckled slyly. "Sir, I was just trying not to cause you any trouble!"
"Alright, alright. Just head home early after you drop off the car. I’ll call you after the New Year."
"Yes, Sir!"
After a slight bow, Chen Fei turned and left.
