Night was about to arrive. Axel chuckled softly.

"If you look around carefully, you won’t think that anymore."

Hearing that, Lana immediately scanned her surroundings. The next moment, she froze.

Every villager had stopped moving completely. Some stood in the middle of the road.

Others remained frozen while carrying baskets. Even children who had been running moments ago now stood perfectly still.

It was as though someone had pressed a pause button on the entire village.

Lana narrowed her eyes thoughtfully. "What if..."

She slowly spoke. "What if they aren’t frozen because we defeated the main culprit?"

Axel turned toward her. "What do you mean?"

Lana continued staring at the villagers.

"What if, the real mastermind has been hiding this entire time? And now, they’re planning to sacrifice every single person here?"

Axel’s expression became serious. "Why do you think that?"

Lana slowly activated her Third Eye.

Immediately, her pupils glowed faintly. From her perspective, thin streams of black aura were continuously flowing out of every villager’s body.

Like countless rivers, they all gathered into one massive stream before heading toward the distant mountains.

She pointed toward them.

"Because my Third Eye can clearly see it. Every person’s negative energy is flowing toward that mountain. It’s almost as though something there is absorbing all of it."

Axel’s eyes narrowed. After remaining silent for several seconds, he quietly muttered,

"Perhaps, the one hiding there is the real person who summoned that twenty-five-hundred-year-old ghost."

Lana clenched her fists. "So, should we leave? Or, should we finish whatever has been left behind?"

Axel didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he slowly closed his eyes.

His spiritual sense spread throughout the surrounding mountains like invisible waves.

Several moments later, a faint smile slowly appeared on his face. "It seems, we should pay that place a visit."

His smile widened slightly. "I have a feeling, we’ll find something very interesting."

Lana’s eyes sparkled immediately. "Uncle! Did you discover something?"

Axel laughed softly. "Why don’t you see it for yourself? You’re so curious. If I didn’t know any better... I’d think you’ve never received a treasure in your entire life."

Lana chuckled. "It never hurts to have a few more treasures."

Soon afterward, the two of them headed toward the mountains behind the village.

Along the way, they noticed countless villagers silently walking in the same direction.

Their empty expressions made them resemble puppets rather than living humans.

The sight was unbelievably eerie. Without wasting time, Lana continuously threw out one Exorcism Talisman after another.

Golden lights exploded across the mountain path. Each talisman instantly severed the ghostly influence controlling the villagers.

One after another, the possessed humans collapsed unconscious onto the ground. Fortunately, they were still alive.

Lana possessed over ten thousand Exorcism Talismans inside her Storage Talisman.

Using several hundred barely affected her reserves. Watching her casually throw away expensive talismans, Axel couldn’t help laughing.

"Who’s going to reimburse you for all those talismans?"

Lana merely smiled. "It’s nice to do a good deed every once in a while."

Eventually, both of them arrived outside a hidden cave. Cold Yin energy continuously flowed out from its entrance.

The surrounding vegetation had completely withered, while the air carried a rotten smell that made breathing uncomfortable.

Instead of charging inside, Axel closed his eyes one final time.

After carefully sensing the cave, he slowly nodded. "You don’t need to interfere in this battle."

Lana looked at him.

"You won’t gain much experience by fighting this opponent."

He smiled calmly. "Just watch carefully. If possible, learn a few techniques from me."

Lana nodded obediently. "I understand."

She quietly followed behind Axel before stopping near the cave entrance.

Inside the cave, a woman sat peacefully in a lotus position.

The moment Lana saw her, her mouth fell open. The woman was breathtakingly beautiful.

Her silky white hair flowed down her back like a magnificent waterfall.

Her flawless skin appeared almost translucent beneath the dim light filtering into the cave.

She sat there quietly with her eyes closed, looking so elegant that she seemed more like an immortal fairy than a human.

For a brief moment, Lana genuinely wondered, ’Is she really a cultivator and not fairy?’

However, that illusion didn’t last long. Axel calmly walked until he stood only a few meters away from the woman.

Then he smiled coldly. "Old woman, it’s time to stop pretending. It’s also time to give up this fake immortality."

The beautiful woman slowly opened her eyes. She looked toward Axel with innocent confusion.

"Big Brother, what are you talking about? I don’t understand."

As she spoke, she even took a frightened step backward, pretending to be scared.

Lana immediately frowned. Something didn’t feel right. She carefully observed the woman’s face.

Her expression appeared strangely stiff. Even the movements of her body looked unnaturally rigid.

It was almost as though, she were wearing someone else’s skin.

The next instant, her suspicion was confirmed. Without warning, Axel threw a brilliant blue energy sphere toward the woman.

Whoosh! The woman instantly dodged. Her movement was unbelievably graceful, almost resembling a ballet dancer gliding across the ground.

Once she landed several meters away, she looked toward Axel with tears gathering in her beautiful eyes.

"Young Lord, please calm down. I truly don’t understand how I’ve offended you."

However, the more she acted innocent, the colder Axel’s expression became. His attacks became increasingly fierce.

Finally, unable to maintain the disguise any longer, the woman’s body suddenly twisted violently.

Her beautiful youthful appearance rapidly withered. Her flawless skin became wrinkled. Her silky white hair lost its brilliance.

Within moments, a hunched old witch stood where the beautiful woman had been.

Her bloodshot eyes glared at Axel with undisguised hatred.

"You refuse to leave me any path to survive."

Her voice became shrill and horrifying.

"Very well. Then neither of you will leave this village alive."

The battle erupted instantly. Lana stood quietly near the entrance, watching everything with intense concentration.

She noticed that Axel occasionally threw several small blue pills toward the witch.
