Chapter 102 - 101: A Favor, Dawnlight’s Pursuit
’Either way, all we can do now is wait for the geomagnetic storm to end. I might as well contact them and ask how they’re doing,’ Wang Jun mused, then sent a message to Qin Haonan.
After all, the Cherry Tomatoes tasted exceptionally good. Wang Jun had already eaten several in a row after receiving them.
Hearing this, Ji Yizhi was taken aback again. "What’s going on with you guys? Since when do you have the time to care about these scattered survivors?"
"They’re not just any ordinary survivors!" Wang Jun shook his head. "At the very least, their Cherry Tomatoes are delicious!"
"The Cherry Tomatoes have already been delivered?" Long Zhan asked, pleasantly surprised.
Wang Jun nodded slightly. "Of course. I’ve already arranged for some to be sent over to you. Try them, they taste great!"
"Excellent! It’s been a while since I’ve had any fresh fruits or vegetables!" Long Zhan said with a smile.
"Don’t just think about eating! Did you test them to see if they’re evolved Cherry Tomatoes?" Ji Yizhi said, a little anxious.
"I know you’re anxious, but calm down. Each of our groups got over thirty kilograms, which is more than enough for research and cultivating seeds!" Wang Jun chuckled. "We’ve already started on our end. I’m sure we’ll have results soon!"
Ji Yizhi paused for a moment, then nodded slightly. He stopped fixating on the Cherry Tomatoes and changed the subject. "It’s so strange that this geomagnetic storm hasn’t damaged our phones. Communications have been uninterrupted the whole time!"
"Our lab has taken apart a few phones, but we can’t find anything special about them at all!" Wang Jun shook his head helplessly.
"It must be the work of that Advanced Civilization, but what on earth is their goal?" Long Zhan’s brows furrowed.
"We don’t know their objective right now. All we can do is play by the rules they’ve set and see where it takes us," Ji Yizhi said, feeling a wave of powerlessness.
While chatting with them, Wang Jun sent a message to Qin Haonan: "How are things on your end?"
Seeing the message, Qin Haonan smiled and replied: "Not bad. Just don’t know when this geomagnetic storm will end!"
"Its intensity is already starting to decrease. It should be over soon!" Wang Jun didn’t hide this information.
"What about you guys? Have you been affected by the geomagnetic storm?" Qin Haonan asked in return, as per Ren Yuanyang’s instructions.
"The impact has been huge! We took so many precautions, but our precision instruments were still damaged by the storm!" Wang Jun answered truthfully. "It feels like this geomagnetic storm was specifically targeting high-end, sophisticated equipment!"
Hearing this, Ren Yuanyang and the others were all stunned.
"Doesn’t that mean the higher the level of technology, the more severe the effects of the geomagnetic storm?" Lu Jiamei said, surprised.
Ren Yuanyang nodded, then shook his head. "Not necessarily. Our phones haven’t been affected by the storm at all, so they must have been modified by the Advanced Civilization. This proves that technology, once it reaches a certain level, can resist the geomagnetic storm!"
Everyone deeply agreed. Ren Yuanyang continued to give instructions: "Once the Aircraft Carrier Base confirms the geomagnetic storm is over, have them notify us immediately. Tell them we’ll owe them a favor."
"Yes, sir!" Qin Haonan immediately relayed Ren Yuanyang’s message to Wang Jun.
When Wang Jun saw Qin Haonan’s message, he froze for a second.
’A favor?’ Wang Jun chuckled and shook his head. While he was very curious about the force behind Qin Haonan, it was only curiosity. He didn’t believe a mere Independent Base would have the ability to repay his favor.
At best, Qin Haonan and his group had gotten lucky. They ran into some of their compatriots who had escaped from the Feixiang and found an evolved Cherry Tomato plant. That was all.
If they were to interact in the future, it would most likely be them finding another evolved plant to trade with him.
Though he was inwardly disdainful, Wang Jun still replied: "Alright. I’ll notify you as soon as the geomagnetic storm is over."
"Thanks!" Qin Haonan responded.
On his end, Ren Yuanyang was still tirelessly reminding him: "You can’t move right now, so you must pay close attention to your surroundings. If any other survivors approach, strike first!"
"Don’t worry, Boss! I’ve already mounted the Spray Melons all around the speedboat. If they dare to show up, I’ll make sure it’s a one-way trip for them!" Qin Haonan said with utter confidence.
Just as he said this, he spotted a speedboat rapidly approaching him from the left!
"Holy shit, what’s going on? There are speedboats unaffected by the geomagnetic storm?" Qin Haonan was completely shocked.
"What is it?" Ren Yuanyang immediately asked.
Qin Haonan described what he was seeing. Ren Yuanyang frowned slightly. "Is it moving fast?"
Qin Haonan immediately shook his head. "No, it’s slow. About the speed of a rowboat!"
Ren Yuanyang analyzed in a low voice, "If you can’t see anyone rowing, then it’s most likely a Water-Type Evolver!"
Hearing this, Lu Jiamei grew worried. "An Evolver! Doesn’t that mean Haonan is in great danger?"
Ren Yuanyang shook his head slightly. "Haonan, don’t reveal your firepower just yet. Wait for them to show themselves, then take them out in one strike!"
Evolvers weren’t invincible; they were still made of flesh and blood. With the firepower Qin Haonan had on hand, self-preservation was certainly not an issue!
Qin Haonan nodded. There was no fear in his eyes; instead, he looked eager for a fight.
The speedboat from the Dawn quickly closed in on Qin Haonan.
The reconnaissance captain immediately gave the order: "Everyone, ready your weapons! Wait for my signal!"
"Yes, sir!" the crew responded in low voices.
They stopped about thirty meters from Qin Haonan’s speedboat. The captain shouted, "We’re from the Dawn Base! Our base is eager for talent and we sincerely invite all skilled individuals to join us. Brother on the speedboat ahead, consider joining our base! You’ll never have to worry about food or drink again!"
’What base could possibly compare to our Peach Blossom Base? I’d have to be brain-dead to join you!’ Qin Haonan curled his lip and muttered.
Seeing no reaction from Qin Haonan, the man shouted again: "Our base has a big ship! A big ship is much more stable than your little speedboat—it’s like solid ground. Once you experience it, you’ll never want to leave!"
Qin Haonan rolled his eyes and shouted back, "Thanks for the generous offer from Dawn Base, but we have our own base. We don’t want to and won’t join any other. You should just head back!"
The captain snorted coldly. "I tried to be civil, but you’re shameless. In that case, you can’t blame us for what’s coming!"
"Is that so? Even the Aircraft Carrier Base doesn’t dare to touch me. Who the hell do you think you are?" Qin Haonan retorted with a smile, hoping to use the Aircraft Carrier Base’s reputation to his advantage.
"The Aircraft Carrier Base? HAHAHA! Before, we might have been a bit wary. But now? They’re just a slightly larger base, that’s all!" the captain laughed.
Qin Haonan was stunned for a moment, but then he recalled the information Wang Jun had just shared and immediately understood.
The geomagnetic storm had destroyed a vast amount of their high-tech weaponry. Without those weapons, the Aircraft Carrier Base was indeed just a slightly larger base. Nothing more!
Without the deterrent of high-tech weapons, the other large ships naturally no longer feared the Aircraft Carrier Base.
"Haven’t you ever heard the saying, ’A starved camel is still bigger than a horse’?" Qin Haonan shot back.
