"You think a living horse fears a dead camel?" the reconnaissance captain immediately retorted with a sneer.

Qin Haonan shook his head. "Acting so arrogantly, aren’t you afraid of running into someone you can’t afford to provoke?"

"Someone we can’t afford to provoke? Are you talking about your base? We’re not even afraid of the Aircraft Carrier Base, so why would we be afraid of you? Are you joking?" the captain shot back.

As they spoke, the Dawn Base’s speedboat continued to slowly approach Qin Haonan.

Qin Haonan was currently immobile. The speedboat’s engine was off. He cradled the automatic rifle in his arms, simultaneously preparing to pull the strings connected to the Spray Melons.

Seeing that Qin Haonan didn’t respond, the other party continued, "There are ten people in our squad, all armed. We even have a Water-Type Evolver. Your resistance is pointless! Just give yourself up!"

Hearing this, Qin Haonan frowned slightly. His video call with Ren Yuanyang was still active, so naturally, Ren Yuanyang heard it too.

"If you don’t see an opening, you can surrender. Wait for me to come and rescue you!" Ren Yuanyang said in a low voice.

Qin Haonan was taken aback for a moment, then replied with a smile, "Boss, I’ll never surrender. I would never betray you, Boss, or the base!"

"No, I’m serious. As long as you’re alive, there’s hope!" Ren Yuanyang said gravely.

Qin Haonan nodded slightly. "I understand. I know what to do now!"

He said he understood, but he had already made up his mind. ’I will not surrender. I’ll risk everything to get these tools back!’

The biggest problem right now was that his speedboat was dead in the water!

’Maybe I should try starting it?’

The moment the thought occurred to him, Qin Haonan couldn’t hold back.

Just then, a message came from Wang Jun: "The intensity of the geomagnetic storm has decreased to yesterday’s levels. The effect on electronic components is now negligible."

Seeing this message, Qin Haonan’s eyes lit up.

"Thanks, Captain Wang. I’ll be sure to repay you for this in the future!"

Qin Haonan sent a quick reply and immediately tried to start the speedboat. At the same time, he opened the window and hurled an Iron Melon toward the Dawn Base speedboat!

Suddenly, a round object came flying toward them.

The reconnaissance captain immediately shouted, "Dodge to the left!"

A wave immediately formed on the right side of the speedboat, pushing it away and dodging the Iron Melon.

The Iron Melon fell into the water and instantly exploded, its shell fragments striking the speedboat with a sharp CLATTER!

The team from the Dawn Base was completely stunned!

"What was that? It exploded!"

"It looked like a bright green watermelon!"

"Good thing we dodged it. If that had landed on the deck, it would have shattered all our windows!"

While they were still in shock, Qin Haonan successfully started his speedboat and began swerving away into the distance.

When the captain realized the other speedboat had started, he was instantly alarmed.

"Attack now! Don’t let him get away!"

The soldiers inside the cabin immediately rushed out.

At that moment, Qin Haonan decisively pulled the trigger on the Spray Melons at the rear of his speedboat.

His speedboat had only just started and hadn’t pulled away very far; the enemy speedboat was still within the Spray Melons’ attack range.

The soldiers who rushed out didn’t even have time to fire before they were riddled with oncoming Spray Melon seeds and collapsed onto the deck!

Seeing this, the captain’s eyes went wide. He dropped to the deck, terrified of being hit by another wave of that attack.

These two strange attacks made them too afraid to continue the pursuit!

When Qin Haonan saw in his rearview mirror that they weren’t chasing, he let out a triumphant cheer!

The reconnaissance captain from the Dawn Base finally came to his senses and immediately ordered, "Collect all the fragments from that explosion and the things that hit our men! Try to start the speedboat!"

The Water-Type Evolver at his side immediately began searching the water for the remnants of the exploded Iron Melon, while the driver tried to start the engine. But the speedboat didn’t respond at all!

"Captain, our speedboat won’t start," the driver said, sounding helpless.

The captain’s brow furrowed. "Then why could *their* speedboat start?"

The driver didn’t know how to answer.

The captain sighed in frustration, able only to watch as Qin Haonan disappeared.

Only after Qin Haonan’s speedboat had vanished in the distance did the captain emerge and carefully inspect the condition of the soldiers on deck.

"These wounds look like they were caused by a shotgun!" the captain muttered, frowning as he examined the soldiers’ injuries.

Suddenly, he spotted a black, oblong object. He carefully picked it out and rinsed it with water.

’Is this... a seed?’ the captain thought, his face a mask of shock.

Meanwhile, the Water-Type Evolver had salvaged fragments of the Iron Melon from the water, along with another seed.

"Captain, it seems to be some kind of plant."

The Water-Type Evolver placed the items he had recovered in front of the captain.

The captain nodded and immediately contacted the ship’s captain.

"Captain, we failed to catch the speedboat!"

The captain of the Dawn Cruise frowned slightly. "What happened? Weren’t all speedboats supposed to be disabled after the geomagnetic storm? You even had a Water-Type Evolver with you, and you still let him get away?"

"For some reason, the target’s speedboat was able to start. He also used two bizarre attacks. We lost seven soldiers!" the reconnaissance captain reported.

"What?! You lost seven soldiers? What in the world happened?" the ship’s captain asked, also shocked.

The reconnaissance captain immediately recounted the recent events in detail, concluding with his discoveries.

"By salvaging the explosive residue and examining the soldiers’ wounds, I’ve discovered that both of these strange attacks seem to have been carried out by plants!"

"Plants? With that much destructive power?" The ship’s captain found it hard to believe.

"We’ve already found what appear to be plant seeds. I’m thinking, if plants really have mutated to be this deadly, then their seeds should be able to grow plants that are just as lethal!" the reconnaissance captain continued.

Hearing this, the ship’s captain’s eyes lit up. "Exactly! Bring those seeds back immediately! I’ll make sure you’re greatly rewarded for this!"

"Thank you, Captain! We’re on our way back now!" The reconnaissance captain breathed a long sigh of relief.

Leading an expedition that yielded no results and cost seven lives would surely have been judged a failure. As the captain, he would have been punished by the base!

But now, everything was different. Bringing back these seeds from lethally powerful plants meant he was not only blameless but would be commended!

"Let’s go! Back to the base!" the captain commanded with a wave of his hand. The Water-Type Evolver nodded and began manipulating the water to push the speedboat back.

Hearing Qin Haonan’s cheerful shout, Ren Yuanyang asked in confusion, "What’s the situation now?"

"Boss, I got the speedboat started! I shook them!" Qin Haonan said, ecstatic.

"The geomagnetic storm is over?" Ren Yuanyang was even more surprised.

"Captain Wang said the storm’s intensity has dropped to yesterday’s levels, so I just tried starting the speedboat. I didn’t expect it to go so smoothly!" Qin Haonan explained.

Ren Yuanyang nodded slightly. "Captain Wang really looks out for us. We’ll have to help him out when we get the chance. For now, just hurry back!"
