The driver of the pursuing speedboat was startled by the gunshot and ducked, yanking the wheel with him and causing the boat to veer sharply to one side.

But it quickly stabilized. However, they no longer dared to get too close.

"Captain, should we use our guns?"

"The Captain’s orders were to capture them alive, it seems. What a headache!" the captain complained.

The Captain had been on a short fuse lately. If they screwed this up, he would definitely take it out on them.

"Then let’s just shoot their boat! That way we won’t hurt anyone," a team member suggested.

The captain pondered for a moment, then nodded slightly. "Alright, shoot the boat!"

"Yes, sir!"

From the very edge of their firing range, the pursuing speedboat opened fire on Lin Mu’s small boat.

Wood splinters flew everywhere on the small boat!

They had chosen a very light boat, making it easier to propel forward with a Water-Type Superpower.

This meant the boat had very little durability. After a strafing run from the speedboat, a large hole had been torn in the stern!

Since the boat was moving forward so quickly, the hole in the stern didn’t have much of an effect.

"Since when did these punks learn to shoot the horse before the rider!" Lin Mu cursed under his breath.

"Don’t worry. As long as they don’t hit us, this is actually a good thing!" Jianghu said in a low voice. "When they shoot up the boat, they reduce its weight. It’ll take less Mental Energy for me to push it."

Lin Mu paused, then frowned. "But if the boat is broken, it’ll sink!"

Jianghu shook his head. "It won’t. Even if there’s only a single plank left, I can keep it from sinking. The only thing we need to worry about is them being able to hit us with their guns."

Hearing this, Lin Mu’s eyes lit up with understanding and he nodded. "I get it. I’ll go distract them. We can’t let them shoot at us so easily."

The weapon in Lin Mu’s hand was one he’d snatched from a guard. Both sides had the same firing range. If they could hit the small boat, Lin Mu could naturally hit their speedboat too.

The bullets struck the speedboat’s hull and railings, kicking up a few sparks that were quickly extinguished by the heavy rain.

The guards on the speedboat immediately hit the deck.

Just then, Jin Ziyu suddenly said, "There seems to be a small boat on the left, too!"

Si Youqin immediately moved to the portside window to get a better look.

Outside, the wind and rain raged, and the night was black as ink. She couldn’t tell if there was anyone on the water at all!

Si Youqin immediately understood what had felt so wrong. No one was rowing, yet the boat was speeding across the water.

At the same time, Jianghu, on the small wooden boat, shouted, "Are you from Peach Blossom Base? We’ve escaped from Dawn Base and wish to seek refuge with you!"

Hearing this, Jin Ziyu looked at Qin Haonan. "Should we save them?"

Qin Haonan shook his head decisively. "What if it’s a trap set by Dawn Base?"

Si Youqin and Jin Ziyu paused for a second, then nodded.

Seeing the Peach Blossom Base speedboat accelerating away, Jianghu felt a surge of despair. But Lin Mu continued to shout, "We brought a licorice plant from Dawn Base as a pledge of our sincerity!"

At these words, Qin Haonan slightly slowed the speedboat and gave rapid orders. "Jin Ziyu, keep your eyes glued to the Evolver on that boat. If he makes a single wrong move, kill him. Sister Qin, aim the Spray Melon at those two. Same goes for you. Understood?"

Si Youqin and Jin Ziyu knew the situation was critical, so they nodded in immediate agreement without any hesitation.

"Throw them the towing hook!" Qin Haonan ordered in a low voice.

Jin Ziyu immediately controlled the metal hook, sending it flying toward the small boat.

Under the control of her Mental Energy, the hook landed squarely on the wooden boat.

Seeing the speedboat toss them an iron hook, Jianghu was overjoyed and quickly secured it to the bow of his boat.

This brief delay allowed the speedboat from Dawn Base to close in rapidly.

"Looks like a fight is unavoidable," Qin Haonan said, watching the approaching speedboats.

"Confirm whether those two really have the licorice. If it’s real, protect them. If it’s fake, kill them on the spot!" Ren Yuanyang’s voice came through the phone.

"Right, Boss!" Qin Haonan replied. "Sister Qin, shorten the tow rope. Tell them to throw the licorice over."
