Chapter 52: Dare Not Try, the Hell Carrier
The other survivors weren’t idiots, of course. When they saw the message from the Feixiang Aircraft Carrier, they immediately started to question it.
"Is your aircraft carrier really that well-stocked with lab equipment and research staff? You managed to develop an Evolution Potion with a one-hundred-percent success rate under these harsh conditions?"
"That’s some research team! Can you tell me which experts from the Dragon Country were involved in the potion’s development?"
"Yeah, right. Totally fake."
"The Feixiang Aircraft Carrier probably just wants us to come over and be their guinea pigs!"
"Being a guinea pig doesn’t sound so bad. At least it’s a chance. If it works, you get to live, right? This goddamn rain shows no sign of stopping. If we just stay on these little boats, we’re dead sooner or later anyway. Might as well risk it!"
"I’m just afraid they don’t want us as guinea pigs, but as livestock!"
"After hearing all that, I’m too scared to go!"
"@ the guy above, you were actually planning to go?"
"I don’t have a choice. I can’t survive like this. I have to try something!"
"I want to go too, but it’s too far away for me."
Lu Jiamei and Xin Wan were sitting on either side of Ren Yuanyang, and they had also seen the messages in the regional channel.
"This Feixiang is no small matter," Lu Jiamei said with a frown. "If they can gather more than ten Water-Type Evolvers, they must have a way to mass-produce them. I just wonder what the success rate is."
Xin Wan nodded slightly. "Even if the Feixiang isn’t an aircraft carrier, it must be a massive ship."
"If only we could get our hands on that Evolution Potion and their research data. We might be able to increase the boss’s Mental Energy faster!" Lu Jiamei was still very hopeful about the Evolution Potion.
Ren Yuanyang shook his head. "Even if we did get all of that, I wouldn’t dare use it. There are too many uncertainties. I’ll stick to improving slowly and safely."
Lu Jiamei paused for a moment, then nodded.
BEEP BEEP!
A message came in.
Ren Yuanyang immediately switched to his private channel. It was a voice message from Qin Haonan.
"Boss, someone’s approaching!"
"Tell them to halt!" Ren Yuanyang replied immediately. "If they don’t listen, pull back. And be careful when you call out to them!"
"Yes, sir!" Qin Haonan replied.
He cut the motor and looked toward an inflatable boat in the distance, shouting, "Stop where you are and state your purpose!"
"Are... are you Dragon Country People?" a weak female voice called out.
Qin Haonan was taken aback. Something felt strange, but he still replied, "Of course. Aren’t we all Dragon Country People in this region?"
Hearing Qin Haonan’s reply, the person continued, their voice sounding breathless. "I... I have extremely important news that needs to be spread on the regional channel. I need your help!"
"What news?" Qin Haonan grew more suspicious.
"It’s about the Feixiang Aircraft Carrier and the Evolution Potion!"
Those words stunned Qin Haonan. He quickly recovered and reported it to Ren Yuanyang immediately.
When Ren Yuanyang got the message, his brow furrowed. "How could she have this information?"
Qin Haonan relayed the question directly to her.
"I escaped from that ship!"
Upon hearing her answer, Ren Yuanyang fell into deep thought.
"Could she be lying to us?" Xin Wan asked, frowning uncertainly.
Ren Yuanyang replied in a low voice, "We’re going to check it out. Haonan, come back and get us."
He was still very interested in the Feixiang Aircraft Carrier and the Evolution Potion. He couldn’t pass up a chance to get more intel.
Besides, based on what she’d said, it sounded like she was about to drop a bombshell.
"Right, Boss!" Qin Haonan told the woman to stay put and wait, then immediately turned his boat back toward the shipping container.
"Boss, that’s too dangerous. How about I go alone and check it out first!" Lu Jiamei urged.
Ren Yuanyang shook his head. "This person is no amateur. We’ll go together. Get the pistols and Iron Melons ready."
Lu Jiamei froze. "But didn’t Haonan say her voice was really weak? She can’t be that much of a threat, can she?"
Ren Yuanyang shook his head. "She came from the opposite direction of the current, and she escaped from the Feixiang Aircraft Carrier. Is that something a weak woman can accomplish?"
According to Qin Haonan’s report, she was in an inflatable boat with no motor. Rowing against the current would take a tremendous amount of energy.
To say nothing of escaping from the Feixiang Aircraft Carrier!
Lu Jiamei froze, then nodded, completely convinced. She turned to get the Iron Melons and pistols.
Qin Haonan returned quickly. Ren Yuanyang brought four plants of four-times-enhanced bitter grass and hung them over the side of the boat. The bitter grass’s creeping stems were underwater, so they weren’t noticeable.
Soon, they arrived near the inflatable boat.
"Our boss is here! You can say what you need to say now!" Qin Haonan shouted.
"Please... post a warning in the regional channel... Don’t go to the Feixiang Aircraft Carrier, no matter what!" she said in a single rush, then gasped heavily for breath.
"Why? Is the Feixiang Aircraft Carrier dangerous?" Ren Yuanyang asked.
"That place is hell!" Her voice was filled with terror and loathing.
"If you could escape from Hell, its guards must be pretty amateurish, don’t you think?" Ren Yuanyang said, skeptical.
"I only escaped by a stroke of luck because someone helped me!"
Ren Yuanyang raised an eyebrow. "Someone helped you? Are your relatives on board?"
"No. Everyone on board is one of our own people. They paid with their lives to help me escape the Feixiang Aircraft Carrier!"
Hearing this, Ren Yuanyang felt a jolt. "’Our own people?’ You mean the Feixiang Aircraft Carrier... isn’t from our Dragon Country?"
"No. It’s a Lvzhi Country aircraft carrier!" she replied, gritting her teeth.
Upon hearing this, Ren Yuanyang and the others were utterly shocked, and a shared sense of outrage washed over them.
Due to long-standing historical grievances and national enmity, any normal person from the Dragon Country would harbor no goodwill toward Lvzhi Country.
"So it’s Lvzhi Country. I can’t believe their aircraft carrier has already reached our region!" Lu Jiamei’s brow furrowed deeply.
"Damn it! Where’s our carrier? We should just blast them back where they came from!" Qin Haonan seethed with righteous anger.
Although Ren Yuanyang was a transmigrator, hearing the name "Lvzhi Country" still provoked a visceral, unpleasant reaction in him.
"Stay sharp, everyone. Let’s move in closer," Ren Yuanyang ordered.
Qin Haonan steered the boat slowly toward the inflatable raft. A faint, almost imperceptible smell of blood drifted toward them.
Lu Jiamei nervously gripped her pistol and cautiously peeked her head out. But in the next instant, she froze completely.
Inside the inflatable boat, a woman in a raincoat sat cross-legged, blood streaming from her eyes, ears, nose, and mouth.
"Sorry... did I scare you?" The woman’s tear-filled eyes met Lu Jiamei’s.
Lu Jiamei suppressed her shock and asked in a low voice, "What... what happened to you?"
Seeing Lu Jiamei’s reaction, Ren Yuanyang and Qin Haonan also peeked over the side. They both gasped in horror.
