Chapter 128 - 127: Undercurrent Intelligence, Stirring Intentions

Ren Yuanyang, who was about to leave, sat back down and accepted the video call.

Lu Jiamei and the others stopped as well, looking curiously at Ren Yuanyang.

Ren Yuanyang gestured for them to sit down as Wang Jun’s voice came through his phone.

"I never expected the leader of the Peach Blossom Base to be so young!"

This was the first time Wang Jun had seen what Ren Yuanyang actually looked like.

Ren Yuanyang smiled, shook his head, and got straight to the point. "Captain Wang, why are you contacting me so late?"

"Here’s the situation. We’ve detected ultrasonic waves again. Based on our last experience, when these waves appear, undercurrents form on the seabed and churn up objects. However, those objects only come to within ten meters of the surface," Wang Jun replied.

Ren Yuanyang was taken aback for a moment, then immediately asked, "Did the last wave like this happen over twenty days ago, almost a month ago?"

"Yes!" Wang Jun was slightly surprised, then shook his head with a wry smile. "It seems your base has the right detection equipment as well. I guess my call was a bit redundant!"

Ren Yuanyang was stunned again by this remark. ’I only just arrived in this world a little over twenty days ago. How could I possibly have any detection equipment?’

However, Ren Yuanyang quickly realized that the other man had misunderstood.

"We don’t have anything that advanced!" Ren Yuanyang replied truthfully. "It’s just that back then, we fished things out of the water that should have sunk to the bottom, like cell phones!"

Wang Jun was stunned again, then it dawned on him. "It seems your base’s salvaging equipment is also very advanced!"

In his mind, the Peach Blossom Base must have salvaged a lot of items when the undercurrents appeared last time.

And being able to salvage items during an undercurrent meant they had equipment that could operate at a depth of ten meters.

"It’s just standard salvaging equipment," Ren Yuanyang said, changing the subject. "Thank you for the reminder, Captain Wang. Otherwise, we would have missed another chance to salvage supplies!"

"Since you have the equipment, you wouldn’t have missed it anyway. To be honest, this information has already been circulating among the major ship-based factions. We’re just preparing to announce it publicly this time. If others have the capability, they can go into the water and salvage supplies for themselves," Wang Jun said, waving his hand dismissively.

Hearing this, Ren Yuanyang felt a sense of helplessness. ’This is probably the information gap between the different tiers of society.’

’No matter the era, the upper echelons always have access to far more information than ordinary people.’

’Of course, even if ordinary people got this information, it wouldn’t be of much use. Ten meters below the surface... in the current situation, who would dare go down there to salvage supplies?’

’Only the large ships with proper salvaging equipment have the ability to do so.’

"After these ultrasonic waves appear, how long does it take for the undercurrents to bring up supplies?" Ren Yuanyang asked.

"Once the signs appear, it could happen anytime in the next two or three days. But the exact timing is uncertain; we’ll have to monitor the situation," Wang Jun replied, his tone also quite uncertain.

Ren Yuanyang nodded slightly. "So, does that mean we need to look for areas that were resource-rich before the flood?"

"Theoretically, yes. But after the last undercurrent, we don’t even know if the underwater supplies have shifted," Wang Jun said helplessly. "On top of that, our advanced detectors were damaged by the geomagnetic storm, so it’s become difficult to even confirm if any supplies are rising!"

Ren Yuanyang paused. "Then how do you plan to confirm that supplies are rising?"

"We can only use less accurate instruments for detection, followed by sending down divers to confirm," Wang Jun replied. "Do you need me to share the coordinates of the pre-apocalypse cities and ports with you?"

"Of course!" Ren Yuanyang answered without hesitation.

"Alright, I’ll send them to you in a bit, but the coordinates might not be perfectly accurate," Wang Jun replied. "After all, the continents have been submerged for over three months. We aren’t sure what Blue Star even looks like underwater anymore."

"Alright, I understand." Ren Yuanyang nodded. "When are you planning on announcing this on the regional channel?"

"They’ll make the public announcement in about twenty minutes," Wang Jun replied, glancing at the time.

"And what’s the progress on the Evolution Potion?" Ren Yuanyang asked after a moment of thought.

’He really hoped the Aircraft Carrier Base could develop the Evolution Potion as soon as possible. That way, his Mental Energy could take a huge leap forward!’

Wang Jun’s brow furrowed, and he shook his head. "Progress is still a bit slow."

"With the experimental data from Lvzhi Country and the researchers from three fleets all working on it, progress is still this slow?" Ren Yuanyang frowned as well.

"It’s hard to predict the progress of scientific research," Wang Jun said, sounding helpless. "You might make rapid progress after a breakthrough, but if you get stuck on a particular problem, you could be stuck there indefinitely."

"So what’s the sticking point right now?" Ren Yuanyang asked casually.

"That I wouldn’t know," Wang Jun said, shaking his head. "I’m not a specialist, after all."

Ren Yuanyang had only asked offhandedly and didn’t really expect an answer. ’It’s not like Wang Jun would tell me research-related intelligence anyway.’

"I see. Well, let’s hope the researchers can pull through," Ren Yuanyang nodded. "I need to start making arrangements for the salvage operation on my end."

Sensing that Ren Yuanyang wanted to end the conversation, Wang Jun replied, "Alright. I’ll contact you if anything new comes up."

"Thanks again," Ren Yuanyang said before ending the video call.

"So there’s really such a thing as these undercurrents?" Qin Haonan asked, full of curiosity, the moment Ren Yuanyang ended the call.

Ren Yuanyang shrugged. "Today was the first I’d heard of it, too."
