Global Lords: My Territory Heart Is a World Tree

Chapter 241 - 148: What’s a Wild Eye Demon Doing Here?

In the White Bone Wilderness, beside a Wyite Bone Altar.

The Skeleton Soldiers at the Wyite Bone Altar had already been cleared out. The territory’s formal army tightly surrounded a Teleportation Gate near the altar.

Everyone stared warily at the Teleportation Gate, on guard against any potential enemies. Sentinels occasionally passed in and out of the gate.

"Phantom!" Lin Kong hailed from a distance.

"Lin Kong, you’re here!" Phantom had just arrived and finished inspecting the guards when he heard Lin Kong’s call. He turned his head and saw Lin Kong rapidly approaching on a Floating Car.

The Floating Car wasn’t large. It had four disc-shaped devices underneath and two seats, one in front of the other. The entire vehicle hovered about a meter off the ground, like a motorcycle whose wheels had been replaced with levitation units.

"So this is the tech-based vehicle from the Glacier World?"

"Yep. The research institute just finished adapting it, and I had the dwarves forge a prototype. I borrowed it for a ride and to test its performance."

Lin Kong patted the front of the Floating Car and smiled, clearly pleased with its performance.

"The vehicle’s power and transmission systems have been replaced with runes. It can reach speeds of 80 km/h, and it’s environmentally friendly—zero pollution."

"However, some of the materials still aren’t quite right. It uses various lightweight alloys, which are a bit problematic to recycle. I wonder when our territory will have a breakthrough in biomaterials. We don’t have a dedicated Materials Laboratory for it yet. We’re just relying on the plants to mutate on their own, and the randomness is just too high."

Lin Kong said with a hint of regret.

"What’s the rush? Let’s take it one step at a time. I think the territory is already developing very quickly. The Lord has been here for less than a year, and the territory has already changed beyond recognition."

Phantom, on the other hand, felt the territory’s development was already incredibly fast, so much so that he felt a little overwhelmed trying to keep up.

"Haha, you’re right!" Lin Kong laughed. "Anyway, enough about that. I’m going to head inside and take a look. The car’s yours; give it a try. Just remember not to use too much force. It was designed for ordinary citizens, so it can’t handle too much power."

Lin Kong took his gear from the vehicle and started putting it on, handing the Floating Car over to Phantom.

Phantom took the Floating Car and eagerly hopped on, riding it around the Wyite Bone Altar.

Once his gear was on, Lin Kong passed through the layers of guards and stepped into the Spatial Gate.

...

In the blink of an eye, Lin Kong found himself on a plain in the center of a basin.

Just as he’d expected, he saw numerous tracks on the ground. Judging by their orderly nature, they undoubtedly belonged to an army.

’So, did the lord from around here really leave with his entire army and all his people?’

’Whatever. Forget about that for now. First, I need to confirm we’re still on the same continent!’

Lin Kong took out the territory’s newest communication device and began sending a message.

"Calling Divine Wood, calling Divine Wood, this is Sparrow. Respond if you copy!"

This ultra-long-range communication device was a piece of black technology from the Glacier World. It was called a Light Chain Communicator. As long as two units were in the same dimension, they could send and receive messages from each other without a relay.

However, because its principles were too complex, it hadn’t been fully adapted. Lin Yu, seeing how useful the device was, had the dwarves build a few of them according to the blueprints.

A few seconds later, the communication device received a reply.

"Sparrow, Sparrow, this is Divine Wood. Message received. Communication is stable!"

Being able to communicate normally meant both sides of the Teleportation Gate were on the same continent. Lin Kong could finally relax, no longer worried about any unexpected trouble.

On the other side of the Teleportation Gate, the guards who received the message also lowered their guard. Led by Phantom, they crossed through the gate and regrouped with Lin Kong.

Afterward, a large number of Shape-shifting Druids transformed into birds and took to the skies, beginning to search the nearby territories. (The initial scouting force had been small, conducting only a wide-area reconnaissance without going into detail.)

Lin Kong pointed to a blurry silhouette at the base of a distant mountain range and said to Phantom, "Phantom, that city over there is probably the closest territory to us. I’ll go check it out first. Here, take this communicator. I’ll contact you with it if there’s any important information."

Lin Kong handed the Light Chain Communicator to Phantom, then pulled a new one out of his personal storage space, hopped on the Floating Car Phantom had brought over, and flew off.

Phantom had to remain on-site to command, so he couldn’t follow. He quickly arranged for a dozen or so Druids to go with Lin Kong for his protection.

Lin Kong traveled without stopping and soon arrived at the foot of the city.

The city covered an area of about five square kilometers and had the typical architectural style of a small Human Race city.

There were farmlands and mineral deposits around the territory, but no citizens were farming them, and the mines were not operational.

Looking through the wide-open city gates, there were no citizens active inside the city either.

It was completely deserted, looking like an abandoned, unmanaged city that had lost its lord.

However, Lin Kong knew that the lord of the territory to which the city belonged must still be around. Otherwise, under the rules of the tournament, the city would have been turned directly into ruins.

Lin Kong thought for a moment, summoned a Rock Puppet, and then controlled it to walk into the city, observing the situation inside through the puppet’s eyes.

Inside the city, he could see some old, repaired signs of battle. The wide plaza in front of the Lord’s Mansion also showed some traces of repair. Other than that, the buildings in the city were all intact.

’But...’

The Rock Puppet controlled by Lin Kong stopped in front of a massive building on the plaza.
