Chapter 275 - 154: Variant Secret (Part 2)
Li Ziyu glanced at the Ox Demons standing guard nearby. The two Ox Demons instantly understood, hoisting their Totem Poles and walking toward the Sharp Clawed Burst Bear, which lay quietly on the ground. They intended to dispose of it.
To Li Ziyu's surprise, the Frenzied Skeleton suddenly moved. It leaped forward, blocking the Ox Demons' path. It tilted its head back, staring them down menacingly. The Ox Demons paused for a moment, then continued forward, raising their Totem Poles.
The Frenzied Skeleton did indeed have a suppressive effect on them, but Li Ziyu's command was clearly superior. Even with the Frenzied Skeleton blocking them, the Ox Demons would resolutely complete their mission. If it tried to forcibly stop them, they would not hesitate to attack.
The Ox Demons and the Frenzied Skeleton both came from the Alien Tomb and belonged to the Alien Undead. They were connected through the same Soul Network and could communicate with each other. The Frenzied Skeleton was frantically telling them to stop.
But the Ox Demons had no choice. Li Ziyu's orders were absolute. While they still had to bring the Totem Poles down, they could slow their pace slightly. What the Frenzied Skeleton did next was up to it. If it couldn't get Li Ziyu to rescind the order before the Totem Poles fell, the Sharp Clawed Burst Bear would definitely have its head smashed in.
Seeing this, the Frenzied Skeleton realized it couldn't stop the two Ox Demons and turned its head to look at Li Ziyu.
It made no difference to Li Ziyu whether it was the Soul Network of normal Undead or Alien Undead. He could receive from both without any issue, so he got the message from the Frenzied Skeleton.
"Spare it." The message from the Frenzied Skeleton was simple and direct—a straightforward plea for mercy.
This was the first time Li Ziyu had received a soul transmission from the Frenzied Skeleton. Ever since being summoned, the creature had acted like a complete brute. It had even fought the Dark Skeleton right after being created. It always expressed its emotions directly and had never sent him a soul message before.
'So it can send soul messages after all. I thought it was a mute.'
Li Ziyu grew curious. He raised his hand, signaling the two Ox Demons to stop, and looked at the Frenzied Skeleton. "Give me a reason. Why should I spare an Undead that dared to attack me?"
This was a very serious issue. One of the greatest advantages of the Undead was their absolute loyalty. They would never betray Li Ziyu. But now, that advantage had been shattered. The Sharp Clawed Burst Bear had attacked Li Ziyu, nearly killing him. Such a thing could not be permitted.
"I can control them." The Frenzied Skeleton paused slightly, as if thinking, before sending another message.
'The Frenzied Skeleton can control Alien Undead?'
Li Ziyu's expression changed. He didn't know about this. 'Does the Dark Skeleton have this ability too? Maybe that damn system hid this crucial information again.'
Thinking of this, he didn't say a word. Instead, he decisively opened the system interface and started searching for clues.
He wouldn't have known if he hadn't looked, but now that he had, he was grinding his teeth in frustration. 'That damn system! It really did hide important information—and not just a little bit. It hid something that could change the entire game!'
He had asked for information about the Frenzied Skeleton and the Dark Skeleton, but after the system provided it, he discovered even more useful things. As he followed the trail of information, digging deeper and deeper, Li Ziyu grew more and more alarmed.
'Holy hell, how much has it been hiding from me?!'
'Damn system, you're a real piece of work!'
'If I don't ask you specifically, you really won't say a thing. You really won't tell me anything.'
By questioning the system, Li Ziyu more or less figured it out. The Alien Tomb was not as simple as he had imagined. It wasn't just a place that produced Alien Undead.
According to the system's answers and Li Ziyu's own interpretation, the Alien Tomb was equivalent to a separate racial base for Skeleton Undead, even though the structure wasn't Main City Level.
In a way, the Alien Undead and Li Ziyu's own Skeleton Undead weren't the same kind of creation at all. Because of this, their Soul Networks were not connected. This was why the Skeleton Undead had one Soul Network, and the Alien Undead had their own.
The Skeleton Undead that Li Ziyu had controlled from the very beginning were the most orthodox Race, recognized by both the Death World and the Undead World. In contrast, the Undead produced in the Alien Tomb were a type of mutant, distinct from the Skeleton Undead.
The foundation of an Undead is its soul. Regardless of the type of Undead, its appearance, or how terrifying it looked, they would all ensure their souls remained pure, free of any other impurities.
The Alien Undead were different. They were tainted by Demonic Qi in life, and their souls remained tainted after death. This was reflected in their requirements; almost all Alien Undead needed Mutated Soul Energy to be summoned. Therefore, their souls were no longer pure but were instead mixed with Mutant Energy.
It was like how Humans possess reason, intelligence, and the ability to think, understanding how to restrain themselves with morals. In contrast, zombies from the movies shatter all of that. They have no reason, no intelligence, and no morals, only engaging in relentless slaughter and attacks. Although they have a Human form, they are, in reality, a completely different race.
To put it simply, the Skeleton Undead were the equivalent of Humans, while the Alien Undead were the zombies of the Undead world.
And one could only imagine what kind of thing the Alien Tomb truly was, acting like a nest that could endlessly produce mutant Undead.
