Chapter 191 - 126: The Ox Demon’s Might (2)
Skeleton Ox Demons were no ordinary Skeleton Undead. They were transformed from Demonized Creatures and Mutated Souls. Unlike the honest, simple, and peace-loving nature of normal Minotaurs, Skeleton Ox Demons were inherently warlike, bloodthirsty, cruel, and frenzied—genuine war machines.
Fortunately, as transformed Undead, they possessed a bit more intelligence than normal Demonized Creatures. They didn’t immediately charge into battle with the Wolf Guard, but instead held their ground at the Bridgehead of the Ramming Horn, providing cover for the 5,000 Skeleton Undead to advance.
They could afford to wait, but the Wolf Guard could not. These ten hulks were already difficult enough to deal with. If they let more Undead cross over successfully, they might as well give up without a fight.
Although they were all summoned by the City Lord at the cost of resources and were not Natives, they were still living creatures, not NPCs. They had their own thoughts and were not much different in temperament from true Native Jackal Wolfmen. They knew how to seek advantage and avoid harm, and they knew the fear of death.
The leading Wolf Guard raised his sword, pointed it toward the Ox Demons, and let out a wolfish howl. The Armored Earth Wolves instantly howled back and charged forward.
To deal with these small fries, only two of the Skeleton Ox Demons moved to engage, swinging their Totem Poles. The Earth Wolves leaped into the air, intending to shatter the Ox Demons’ bones with their sharp fangs.
In their simple minds, these weren’t terrifying Undead before them—they were fragrant ox bones. Delicious *and* perfect for sharpening their teeth! Having stumbled upon an all-you-can-eat buffet, why wouldn’t they give it their all?
However, reality delivered a harsh slap. Forget the Ox Demons even attacking—their bones alone were harder than stone, almost like metal. No matter how sharp the Earth Wolves’ teeth or how strong their jaws, they were powerless against solid metal. Consequently, every single wolf that pounced ended up dangling from an Ox Demon’s body like an ornament, swinging back and forth.
As Undead, the Ox Demons felt no pain. They couldn’t care less how the Earth Wolves bit them. With a casual flick of its arm... ’Huh, it’s got a tight grip. Can’t seem to shake it off.’
Lifting its arm, the Ox Demon’s Soul Fire flickered erratically. The Earth Wolf dangling from its arm bone eyed it sideways, letting out a low, threatening growl as if guarding its food.
’What the hell? You’re chewing on my arm and *you’re* the one guarding your food?’
’Fine, have a taste. I was going to let you live for another two seconds, consider it a last meal. But if you’re going to be possessive about it, then you can just die!’
The Ox Demon grew angry. The deep blue Soul Fire in its eye sockets flared. Its arm joint bent at an unnatural angle as it grabbed the Earth Wolf’s neck and squeezed hard.
"Awooo..."
The Earth Wolf let out a pitiful cry, spraying blood from its mouth. The Ox Demon threw it to the ground, and a stomp of its hoof silenced it for good.
The two Ox Demons swung their arms casually. A couple of sweeps from their Totem Poles and a dozen Earth Wolves were dead. The wolves in the rear, who hadn’t gotten a chance to pounce, froze in their tracks. Fear flickered in their eyes as they began to slowly retreat.
They were here for a buffet, not their last meal. Who the hell would be willing to throw their life away for a mouthful of bone? They’d at least need some meat on it.
Just as the terrified Earth Wolves were retreating, a Wolf Guard launched his charge. With a running start, he leaped high into the air, gripping his Longsword with both hands for a downward slash.
The Ox Demon looked up at the Wolf Guard and raised its arm to meet the Longsword.
CLANG!
The Longsword struck the arm, sending a shower of sparks, but it failed to even leave a scratch. The Ox Demon was extremely confident in its bones. ’This is system-certified, reliable Defense Power we’re talking about. How could a Wolf Guard’s Longsword possibly shatter it?’
’Since you couldn’t break me, now it’s my turn.’ The Ox Demon swung its Totem Pole with one hand, smashing it viciously toward the Wolf Guard. To its surprise, the armored Wolf Guard was unusually agile. The moment he landed, he kicked off the ground and rapidly retreated, dodging the incoming Totem Pole.
’That’s just unreasonable!’
The Ox Demon’s Soul Fire flared again. Not giving the Wolf Guard a chance, it swung the Totem Pole once more. The Wolf Guard dodged again by a hair’s breadth. Just as he was about to breathe a sigh of relief, he felt the ground tremble and rumble beneath his feet.
He looked at the Ox Demon in horror. Where the Totem Pole had smashed into the ground, ripples spread out in circles, shattering the fortress’s defensive plating and sending splinters flying.
War Stomp!
A crushing force traveled up from his feet. The Wolf Guard only had time to let out a wretched scream before the shockwave pulverized his internal organs, and he collapsed to the ground like a heap of mangled flesh.
From the Wolf Guard’s body, a wisp of black energy drifted into the Skeleton Ox Demon’s Soul Fire, causing it to grow imperceptibly stronger.
BANG BANG BANG...
The Jackal Wolfman Long Spearmen opened fire again, providing cover for the Wolf Guard’s assault. More Wolf Guard charged the Skeleton Ox Demons. The ten Skeleton Ox Demons showed no weakness, swinging their Totem Poles to meet the attack.
Behind the Ox Demons, a steady stream of Skeleton Undead was arriving.
Seeing the Ox Demons hold the line, Li Ziyu breathed a sigh of relief. ’This is what you call taking turns on stage. Let’s see who’s more ruthless. If you can’t deal with my Ox Demons, then I’ll deal with you.’
At that moment, new shenanigans unfolded on the battlefield below. The stone spheres rolled down again, crushing many more Skeleton Undead. Following behind the spheres was a fleet of small boats equipped with wheels.
These boats had spearhead-like rams mounted on their prows and blades fixed to their hulls. They came down the slope like charging war chariots, suddenly plowing into the Undead horde. Carried by their downhill Speed, they were unstoppable. Any Undead that got too close was scraped by the blades and immediately sliced to pieces. Though not killed, they were rendered combat-ineffective for the time being.
After the boats came to a stop, a group of Kobolds charged out from within. This was Percy’s ace in the hole. Besides his bombers, he also had a special suicide squad like this.
