Global Lords: The Undead's Mobile Fortress

On the top platform of the Jackal Wolfman Fortress.

The Skeleton Warriors, with shields in one hand and sabers in the other, were wreaking havoc and routing the Jackal Wolfman Long Spearmen. Just then, hatches on the platform flew open one by one, and fully armed Wolf Guards emerged from below.

CLANG!

A Bone Saber struck the armor of a Wolf Guard who was just emerging. The Wolf Guard paused, glanced down at the Bone Saber on its shoulder, then looked up at the Low Level Skeleton Warrior. It continued to climb, its full body slowly coming into view. The sheer presence of its massive, powerful frame forced the Low Level Skeleton Warrior to slowly back away.

The 2.5-meter-tall Wolf Guard sneered contemptuously as it loomed over the 1.8-meter-tall Low Level Skeleton Warrior. It swung its longsword in a downward chop. The Low Level Skeleton Warrior raised its shield to block, but the longsword struck it with a sharp CRACK! The Bone Round Shield shattered instantly. Without losing any momentum, the longsword continued on its path and split the Low Level Skeleton Warrior’s skull in two.

"AWOOOO—"

The Wolf Guard threw its head back and howled. One after another, large Armored Earth Wolves charged out from behind them. They ferociously pounced on the Skeleton Warriors, crushing their skulls with sharp teeth.

Facing the Jackal Wolfman elites, the Skeleton Warriors showed no intention of backing down. They unleashed Soul Roars and charged the Wolf Guards. Unfortunately, their weapons could hardly damage the enemy’s Metal Armor, and they were instead cut down by the Wolf Guards in return.

The High Level Skeleton Warriors could still hold their own for a bit, but the Low and Intermediate Level Skeleton Warriors couldn’t even parry. With the Armored Earth Wolves eyeing them hungrily from the side, they were completely outmatched.

For the first time, they faced an enemy they could barely resist—even their shields offered little defense. The Skeleton Warriors were locked in a desperate struggle.

Moreover, the Jackal Wolfman Long Spear Team reemerged, aimed their long-barreled firearms at the Skeleton Undead, and fired. BANG! BANG! BANG! The top of the Jackal Wolfman Fortress was instantly shrouded in gunpowder smoke.

The howls of the Wolf Guards caught Li Ziyu’s attention. He looked up and couldn’t help but suck in a sharp breath. ’They have something like this, too? Elite warriors?’

The great doors of the Undead Main Tower opened. Figures, three meters tall and carrying massive White Bone Totem Poles, emerged with heavy steps. They glanced ahead, stepped onto the boarding ramp, and moved to support their fellow Skeleton Warriors.

It wasn’t just the Skeleton Ox Demons. There were also 5,000 Skeleton Undead. They streamed past the Ox Demons, charging ahead toward the Jackal Wolfman’s top platform.

’Sending the Skeleton Undead won’t be effective at killing the elite Jackal Wolfman warriors, but it can stall them. So what if they die? As long as it creates an opening for the Skeleton Warriors and the Ox Demons, their deaths won’t be in vain.’

"Reinforcements!"

A Wolf Guard heard the sound and looked up, instantly seeing the boarding ramp packed tight with skeletons. He yelled to the Long Spearmen.

They were enough to handle the Undead Warriors already engaged in combat; the Long Spearmen had to deal with the enemy’s reinforcements. They couldn’t let them charge across, especially not those Minotaur Skeletons. They absolutely could not be allowed to get over!

The Jackal Wolfman Long Spear Team turned their firearms again, aimed at the Ox Demons crossing the boarding ramp, and pulled their triggers.

BANG! BANG! BANG!—

When the gunpowder smoke cleared, the Long Spearmen looked on expectantly, only to find that the Ox Demons had shielded themselves with their Totem Poles. Their ammunition couldn’t harm the enemy at all. Not only that, but it seemed the attack had enraged these behemoths, and they actually started to run.

Their hooves thundered on the boarding ramp. The Skeleton Ox Demons were like tanks; forget the Jackal Wolfmen, they didn’t even hesitate to knock away the Skeleton Undead blocking their path. The cannon fodder was sent tumbling off the ramp, rolling down to shatter into piles of broken bones on the ground below.

A Wolf Guard rushed to the end of the ramp and braced his shield, trying to stop the charging Ox Demon. He was met by a massive Totem Pole wreathed in black energy.

Amid a dull thud, the Wolf Guard felt immense force transfer from his shield. His bones groaned under the strain. The hand gripping the shield shattered, finger bones splintering one by one as the damage spread upward. His entire arm fell limp. The Totem Pole, its force unabated, slammed viciously into his body.

His domed breastplate was instantly caved in by the Totem Pole. Cracks appeared all over his sternum and ribs, and then they shattered.

PUH.

A mixture of internal organs and blood sprayed from his mouth. As the Wolf Guard stared in disbelief, the Ox Demon forcefully flicked its Totem Pole upward. His body, like a broken ragdoll, was thrown into the air. He crashed to the ground, spitting another mouthful of blood. The last thing he saw was a massive hoof stomping down hard.

The Wolf Guard, who had been so imperious before the Skeleton Warriors, didn’t even last a single exchange against the Skeleton Ox Demon before losing his life.

With the death of the Wolf Guard, the top platform erupted into chaos. The Jackal Wolfman Long Spearmen closest to the Ox Demon saw that things were going south and immediately ducked back down, slamming their hatches shut to hide inside the fortress. The other Wolf Guards also gave up their assault on the Skeleton Warriors, gathering together with their Armored Earth Wolves to warily watch the ten behemoths.

Even though there were only ten Skeleton Ox Demons, their massive frames, their horns, their menacing auras, and the emanations of death and Frenzy Qi from their Totem Poles all exerted immense pressure on the Wolf Guards. This was a terrifying existence the likes of which they had never seen before, like a Demon King of legend descending upon the world.
