Chapter 186 - 124: Sudden Outbreak of War

Watching this scene unfold through the system, Benjamin let out a slight sigh of relief. ’Good, good... The Undead failed to break through the Jackal Wolves.’ His massive investment in these Warriors had not been in vain.

Benjamin had truly spared no effort to develop his fighting force. He always spent whatever resources he acquired, never keeping a surplus.

Take the Jackal Wolves, for instance. They consumed a considerable amount of resources. From their Weapons and Shields to the Armor they wore, crafting everything required vast quantities of ore. On top of that, feeding the army was a massive undertaking; after all, Jackal Wolfmen are pure carnivores who won’t touch a single vegetable.

However, it was all worth it. ’Look at that. With just a few thousand Warriors, I’m holding back tens of thousands of Undead. This is the difference between a professional army and a motley crew. If I hadn’t spent so many resources cultivating the Jackal Wolves, this wave would have likely succeeded in their surprise attack!’

Resources aren’t saved, they’re obtained through Plundering!

’As long as I block this first wave of Undead, the rest will be easy. I have the Long Spear Team, my trump card. It’s with the Long Spear Team that I have the advantage needed to dominate the Wasteland, eliminate other City Lords, and plunder Native Tribes.’

BANG! BANG! BANG!...

Flames erupted and gunpowder smoke filled the air. The Jackal Wolfman Long Spear Team, working in pairs, mounted the designated firing platforms and began to unleash their might. From their high vantage point, they fired relentlessly down at the Undead. There was no need for precise aiming; they just had to open fire. The Undead below were too numerous and packed too tightly together—aiming anywhere near their heads was enough.

"Percy, look! We’re not losing! Our Warriors are fighting bravely! Get your men to join in!"

"After this battle, we’ll become even stronger! I promise you, I’ll give you a fifty-percent share of the resources this time!"

Far from collapsing, the battle was gradually turning in their favor. Benjamin turned his head and made his promise to Percy.

Percy, who had been on the verge of panic, calmed down. He too had noticed that while the Undead were numerous, they weren’t as powerful as he had imagined. The Jackal Wolfmen even held an advantage, especially with that Long Spear Team. ’The Undead can’t handle them!’

’Benjamin said it himself—fifty percent of the resources! What’s there to hesitate about? Let’s go!’

Spurred on by the promise of resources, Percy’s face flushed as he urged his subordinate Kobolds to pick up their Speed.

The individual combat strength of Kobolds was mediocre. This was especially true for Percy, who was just getting by under Benjamin’s command. Benjamin barely had enough resources for himself, meaning even less trickled down to Percy. As a result, Percy had few Warriors and could only focus on developing Low Level Kobolds.

But that didn’t matter. Aside from fighting directly, Kobolds had a host of other contraptions at their disposal, such as rolling stones.

The Jackal Wolfman Long Spear Team was a trump card, but their numbers were too small. For wiping out swathes of Low Level enemies, they fell short. Against Low Level Undead, the power of rolling stones could be fully unleashed!

The Kobolds were now in position. They pushed smooth, chiseled stone spheres into simple contraptions. At Percy’s command, the Kobolds released the ropes. A gate opened, and the stone spheres slid down a polished chute like a slide, accelerating continuously until they were launched from the Jackal Wolfman Fortress with a mighty THOOM.

BOOM!

The stone spheres landed among the Undead, instantly smashing dozens of them to smithereens. The spheres continued to roll forward, and the Undead, not knowing to dodge, foolishly kept charging. The steamroller-like spheres plowed through them, carving out clear paths and reducing hundreds, even thousands, of Undead to bone fragments.

"Excellent work, Percy!"

The sight of several new paths carved through the battlefield made Benjamin pump his fist in excitement. ’The Undead aren’t so scary after all,’ he thought. ’They’re just numerous!’

’We can win this!’

Meanwhile, the Kobolds emerging from the tunnels had reached the storeroom gates. Wielding mining tools and letting out wild cries, they charged toward the Undead.
