Global Lords: The Undead's Mobile Fortress

Chapter 211 - 133: The Fortress Moves Out

At midnight, a moon the size of a human head hung in the black night sky, casting an eerie, silvery-white light.

The main tower of the Undead Fortress was surrounded by swirling green lights. If you looked closer, you would see they were actually Wandering Souls circling the building. Combined with the sounds of digging from the Wraith Mountain Range and the final, agonized howls of Wild Beasts, the place could easily pass for a horror movie set.

「Three days passed in a flash.」 Ever since the Jackal Wolfmen were defeated, no one else had come to bother Li Ziyu. The past three days had been comfortable and pleasant.

He had sent Zhang Peng to gather intel on Demonized Creatures, but there were no results yet. It seemed Demonized Creatures weren’t so easy to find.

The top players had predicted the arrival time of the new Transmigrators, but it was just a rough estimate—sometime in the next day or two. Li Ziyu decided to focus his attention on it. He was bored anyway, so he might as well watch the show.

Sprawled lazily on his White Bone Throne, Li Ziyu opened the chat channel. After a single glance, he shot upright. ’They’re here!’

[Chat Channel]

Kindergarten Overlord: Bros, the new Transmigrators are here, haha. Found a cute one. Going to go say hi, hahaha...

Kicking The Nursing Home: Well, what a coincidence. I found a newbie too!

Gimme Half a Pack: C’mon, guys, have a heart. We’re all from the same place, and survival isn’t easy. Give the newbies a chance to live... F*ck, I found one. He’s trying to run. Gotta go, talk later.

Half a Day Wasted: Silver Bell Breastplates, fifty cents a piece. Buying scrap metal, stone, iron, and other ores. Good prices. Serious sellers only.

...

Watching the messages flood the chat channel, Li Ziyu sighed. ’Sometimes, transmigration isn’t a good thing. You might open your eyes only to find a group of veterans grinning menacingly at you.’

’Good people like me who don’t bully newcomers are a rare breed these days. People just aren’t what they used to be.’

Not everyone was like him, needing resources like useless Skeletons or Soul Energy. The vast majority of Transmigrators needed all sorts of resources, even basic ones—and the more, the better.

For example, the Lord of the Giant Beast Race often complained in the chat channel about not having enough food. Every single one of his Giant Beasts was a glutton with a stomach like a bottomless pit; they could eat any amount of food. Their combat power was certainly high, but the burden of being a Lord of the Giant Beast Race was also staggering.

’The Giant Beast Race... If I killed them and turned them into Undead, their combat power should be pretty impressive, right? Just the thought is exciting.’

With the arrival of the new Transmigrators, the forums and chat channel had descended into chaos. The savage carnival had begun. The newcomers wouldn’t get a chance to develop at a leisurely pace like he had. Right from the start, they had to face a horde of veterans hunting them down. Once discovered, their fate would not be a pleasant one.

Li Ziyu didn’t like this kind of chaos. He preferred civilization, and order. Chaos was always unsettling. The Undead were an orderly bunch; after all, they didn’t have many hobbies, didn’t have to worry about food or drink, and certainly didn’t need to consider buying a house or a car. ’Yes, so pure.’

The newcomers hadn’t reacted yet; there was no sign of them in the chat channel. He figured it would be another half hour before they got their bearings and started coming online one by one.

Li Ziyu had the Catwoman Sisters bring him some nuts, berries, and fruit. He closed the system interface and began to eat leisurely, occasionally sharing a piece with Mengmeng, who was watching from the side with greedy eyes.

After three days with them, Li Ziyu was quite satisfied with the Catwoman Sisters. Mengmeng was a mischievous little thing, sharp-witted and always scheming about how to slack off while still getting her share of food without him, her master, noticing.

Of course, her little tricks couldn’t fool Li Ziyu. Whenever he caught her, he would give her a light chop on the head, making her yelp "Ow, ow, ow!" for a good while as she rubbed the spot.

Meng Ni, on the other hand, was like a gentle older sister—polite, perceptive, and diligent in her work. She and the flighty Mengmeng were like night and day. As for her sister getting chopped on the head from time to time, she would just smile. She could tell that their master wasn’t truly angry; otherwise, the punishment would be far worse than a simple chop.

"Boss! The new Transmigrators are here! Should we get in on the action?" Liu Xingxing came barreling in from outside, shouting boisterously.

Li Ziyu slowly chewed a berry, calmly watching Liu Xingxing. The kid always seemed to have boundless energy, loved to get involved in any commotion, and was endlessly curious. Only when he had run right up to him did Li Ziyu wave a dismissive hand. "Can’t you be a little more composed? Besides, the new arrivals are here. What does that have to do with us?"

Liu Xingxing skidded to a halt and blurted out, "Boss, you can’t say that! Aren’t you curious what Races the new Transmigrators are? Don’t you want to meet them?"

Li Ziyu shook his head without hesitation. "Nope, not at all. What would I do if I met them? Destroy their fortresses, turn them into Undead, and make them mine for me?"

Hearing Li Ziyu’s words, Liu Xingxing grimaced and sucked his teeth, then said with a wry smile, "You’re not that kind of person, Boss. Stop joking. We could expand our operation, take on a few Allies."

"Xingxing, I’ve told you before, your way of thinking is wrong," Zhang Peng said as he walked in from outside, having overheard Liu Xingxing. "Things are chaotic right now. There’s no need for us to get involved in this mess."

Liu Xingxing whipped his head around and glared at Zhang Peng, retorting unhappily, "You’re so heartless! Those poor newcomers. It’s tough to get by in the Otherworld. What’s so bad about giving them a hand? We could even gain a few Allies."
