"Xingxing, they wouldn’t be allies. They’d be a burden." Li Ziyu shifted his position and said earnestly, "Do you feel like I’ve given you too many resources? Instead of worrying about helping new Transmigrators, you should be thinking about how to gather more resources to develop your own fortress."

"Exactly! Xingxing can’t even support himself yet, and he’s already thinking about helping others?" Zhang Peng said with a mocking chuckle.

"So we’re just going to wait?" Faced with this kind of drama, Liu Xingxing’s curiosity was piqued, his heart thumping wildly. He could barely control himself.

Li Ziyu calmly ate some nuts and snorted. "Not necessarily," he added. "If fate brings them to us, it wouldn’t hurt to help them out a bit."

’Just like you, who dug me up from underground in broad daylight.’

’What a cursed connection this is!’

...

"Percy, we’re in luck! The Goddess of Destiny truly favors us!" Benjamin said, his face splitting into a wide grin as he laughed.

The battle with the Undead had been a disastrous defeat. His losses were so severe, they shook him to his core. He’d thought he would have to lie low, silently lick his wounds, and resort to what he had done before—Plundering weak Native Tribes that had no one to back them up.

With the forces currently under his command, Plundering those small tribes was no problem at all, but the returns were just too small. It was hard to say how long it would take for him to recover his former strength.

But what Benjamin hadn’t expected was for happiness to arrive so suddenly. New Transmigrators... weren’t they just fat sheep waiting to be slaughtered?

He had been keeping a close eye on the news, and today, his patience had finally paid off. The new Transmigrators had arrived in the Otherworld, and his hunt could begin.

Those newcomers, who hadn’t yet figured out the situation, were almost completely defenseless. They could be crushed with ease—a gift from the Goddess of Destiny herself!

At that moment, the shell-less Jackal Wolfman Fortress was chasing a smaller fortress across the Wasteland. Both Benjamin and Percy were ecstatic; the profit from taking down a Mobile Fortress was far greater than what they’d get from Plundering a small tribe.

In their excitement, neither Benjamin nor Percy noticed the green lights in the sky tailing them. Wandering Souls had discovered their whereabouts and were now looking down from above.

"We’re about to earn some serious credit," a Giant Demon Wandering Soul said to its companion.

"Huh?" The Human Wandering Soul scratched its head and looked blankly at the Giant Demon Wandering Soul. They had once been enemies, but in death, they had become kin. After so many long years together, even the deepest hatred had been worn away by the passage of time.

"You still don’t get it? That one down there," the Giant Demon said, pointing to the Mobile Fortress below. "It’s the Jackal Wolfman."

"You mean..." The Human Wandering Soul finally caught on.

The two Wandering Souls had just been out for a stroll and hadn’t expected to stumble upon two Mobile Fortresses in battle. To call it a battle wasn’t quite right; it was more like one was running and the other was chasing.

Perhaps because it had been a Wandering Soul for too long, the Human Wandering Soul found everything novel and was always eager to watch a good show. So, upon seeing the Mobile Fortress chase, it didn’t think any further, content to simply enjoy the spectacle.

The Giant Demon Wandering Soul was a bit more astute. While it also enjoyed a good show, it recognized the Jackal Wolfman Fortress—the very enemy they had fought not long ago.

"You go back and report to the City Lord." The Giant Demon Wandering Soul glanced down below, then said solemnly to the Human Wandering Soul, "I’ll give this opportunity to you."

The Human Wandering Soul stared intently at the Giant Demon Wandering Soul, its expression grave. "No. You saw it first. You should go."

The two Wandering Souls fell silent. Sparks seemed to fly between them. Reporting back would naturally earn them credit from the City Lord, but they would miss the show!

After finally getting a chance to leave the Wraith Mountain Range, excitement was all they really cared about.

They both knew what the other was thinking. Faced with such a spectacle, neither wanted to be the one to leave.

"Why don’t we watch for a bit? We can report to the City Lord after they’re done fighting," the Human Wandering Soul suggested after a moment’s hesitation.

"What kind of nonsense is that? This is an urgent matter! By the time they’re done fighting, the Jackal Wolfman will be long gone." The Giant Demon Wandering Soul shook its head, clearly unconvinced.

The Human Wandering Soul shrugged, as if to say, "Suit yourself, I’m staying for the show." The Giant Demon Wandering Soul bared its fangs in frustration but knew the Human was dead set on staying. ’Fine,’ it thought. ’If you won’t go, I will. Hopefully I can get back before the fight is over.’

It glanced down again, mentally calculating their direction.

Huh?

’The direction these two fortresses are heading... it’s toward the Undead Fortress!’

The Mobile Fortress in front was fleeing blindly, and by sheer coincidence, it was heading straight for the Undead Fortress. Perhaps because it was getting dark, the pursuing Benjamin and Percy hadn’t noticed this fact.

’In that case, I might get to see how this ends after all!’ The Giant Demon Wandering Soul’s thoughts raced. Without further hesitation, its form flickered as it sped off in the direction of the Undead Fortress.

...

「Undead Fortress, Main Tower.」

Li Ziyu, Zhang Peng, and Liu Xingxing sat in a row, looking like a trio of internet-addicted teens as they watched the chat channel and studied the latest system update.

In the chat channel, quite a few newcomers had already shown themselves.
