Chapter 777: Amusement Ride Check-In
Amusement Ride Check-In
The throwing knife precisely struck the back of the Jester Doll's head. Lin Ye stepped on the seat and leaped behind the Jester Doll. He pulled out the knife and drove it deep into what might have been a vital point on the Jester Doll's body.
The Jester Doll had no room to resist. A massive amount of black blood sprayed from the wound, splattering onto Lin Ye.
The roller coaster climbed to the apex of the track. After a brief pause, it began a rapid descent.
Large amounts of black blood and corpse fragments were flung behind by the roller coaster. Lin Ye wedged his body between the seats to maintain balance, only stopping his movements once he had completely dismembered the Jester Doll.
"What a tough bastard to kill."
The Jester Doll's body was filled with flocculent material soaked in black liquid. Even during the dismemberment, it never stopped struggling.
Though it looked like Lin Ye had taken less than half a minute to deal with the Jester Doll, every step involved precise calculation.
Even the angle at which the throwing knife struck the steel rail was determined by Lin Ye's standing position.
"The smell is a bit off."
Lin Ye wiped away the black liquid clinging to his face and brushed the strands of hair blocking his vision behind his ears.
The roller coaster was still accelerating. Lin Ye fastened his seatbelt and noticed a Jester mask had appeared on the seat beside him.
As the roller coaster flipped on the track, the Jester mask slid down against the backrest. Lin Ye caught it mid-air.
'What the hell is this thing?'
Lin Ye stuffed the Jester mask into his pocket, then leaned back in his seat to experience the amusement ride built from gravity, inertia, and centrifugal force.
After four minutes and fifty-three seconds, the roller coaster stopped at its starting position. Lin Ye unbuckled his seatbelt and stepped off.
Perhaps because Lin Ye had killed the Jester Doll, the assembled dolls had already left.
As Lin Ye walked out of the facility, a blue card fell in front of him.
He looked up. The sky above was still overcast, and nothing else was falling.
Lin Ye picked up the card and found it was covered in a list of various facilities in the amusement park. Below each facility was a blank slot. The slot for the roller coaster bore a red stamp.
Completed.
"So I have to ride all of these?"
Lin Ye glanced at the card. There were nineteen blank slots remaining.
"Not too many, but there's no electricity here at all..."
Just then, a boar doll approached Lin Ye. Lin Ye took the Jester mask out of his pocket and put it on.
The boar doll stopped. It took another careful look at Lin Ye, then turned and left.
Lin Ye walked into the roller coaster's control room. The lights on the control panel flickered on.
"So that's how it is."
Lin Ye began checking off the amusement rides on the card. During his time on the roller coaster, he had already memorized the general terrain structure of this area.
So, in less than two hours, Lin Ye finished all the rides listed on the card.
After each ride, the corresponding blank slot on the card was stamped. Once all the slots were filled, a map appeared on the originally blank back of the card.
Following the route on the map, Lin Ye found a climbable rockery in the center of a pool. Inside the rockery was a tunnel, and the map's endpoint was within that tunnel.
There were wooden drawbridges on both sides of the tunnel. Lin Ye jumped onto one and followed it into the tunnel.
Midway through the tunnel, a door was fixed to one wall. It had a doorknob, and it seemed opening it would allow escape from this place.
Lin Ye reached for the doorknob, but just before touching it, he suddenly stopped.
From the moment he got the card, the entire check-in process had been incredibly smooth, as if it were telling Lin Ye that this was the exit.
But Lin Ye couldn't help thinking back to that circular passage. If this was the real exit, what was that circular passage marked with the word "Exit"?
Earlier, Lin Ye had preferred to face the Jester Doll head-on rather than enter the circular passage because he wasn't sure what was inside. If it was a dead end, he would be trapped. Besides, the Jester Doll seemed to be forcing him into it.
"Maybe I should take a look over there first."
Lin Ye left the rockery tunnel and returned to the pool.
The circular passage was exactly the same as before, with no changes whatsoever.
Lin Ye turned on the flashlight he found in the security booth. As long as he wore the Jester mask, these devices worked normally.
A rotting smell wafted from inside the circular passage. Lin Ye moved forward bent over, gripping the throwing knife, ready for battle.
However, he encountered no danger along the way. After passing several slopes, Lin Ye stepped out of the circular passage.
The circular passage connected to the aquarium pool. The pool was dry, with no marine life inside.
Lin Ye stepped over the broken display glass and left the pool.
The aquarium was pitch black. The floor was covered in discarded clutter.
Shadows flickered at the end of the corridor. Lin Ye gripped his throwing knife and approached, only to find a penguin doll barely half a person tall.
The penguin doll was cleaning the floor, but it was just swinging the broom around aimlessly, sweeping trash from one spot to another.
Lin Ye didn't let his guard down. He wouldn't discriminate based on appearances.
The penguin doll noticed Lin Ye. It waddled over to him in a comical gait.
Lin Ye didn't strike first. The penguin doll hugged his leg and rubbed against it.
"I'm looking for the exit here. Do you know where it is?"
Lin Ye patted the penguin doll's head and asked softly.
The penguin doll tilted its head, looked at Lin Ye, then turned and waddled deeper into the aquarium in its silly walk.
Lin Ye followed behind the penguin doll, observing his surroundings as he walked.
Soon enough, the penguin doll stopped outside a pool.
It was a shark display pool. Several shark dolls were lying in the dry pool, resting.
Lin Ye spotted another circular passage on the wall beside the pool.
"Thanks... Do you want to leave this place with me?"
Lin Ye looked at the trembling penguin doll and asked.
The penguin doll didn't answer. It just wrapped its flippers around Lin Ye's leg.
"Alright, then stay behind me."
Lin Ye jumped into the pool. The shark dolls just glanced at him but didn't attack.
The penguin doll also jumped into the pool. At that moment, all the shark dolls surrounded it, opening mouths that took up half their bodies.
Lin Ye stood in front of the penguin doll, gripping his knife, ready to fight at any moment.
The shark dolls seemed afraid to attack Lin Ye. They tried to go around him to eat the penguin doll.
Lin Ye picked up the penguin doll and charged into the circular passage. The shark dolls didn't pursue them into the tunnel.
