Global Survival: I Got the D-Rank Personnel Simulator

Chapter 728: Material Transformation Device

The Black Threads quickly closed in to less than twenty meters from Lin Ye. His body began to undergo the transformation phenomenon once again, and this time it was accelerating.

Lin Ye fixed a piece of material similar in texture to the surface membrane of the egg-shaped objects onto his Crowbar. He had deliberately saved this material while repairing his body earlier.

But Lin Ye didn't act hastily. He sensed the Black Threads approaching from all directions as the transformation on his body grew more severe.

Only when the Black Threads pressed to the very limit where his body would collapse did Lin Ye suddenly hurl the Crowbar at them.

The Crowbar spun as it neared the Black Threads, but they abruptly accelerated their rotation. They had been on guard against Lin Ye's attack all along.

After all, the egg-shaped object here had been damaged. The Black Threads didn't know how Lin Ye had destroyed it, so they were especially wary of his attacks.

But the Crowbar changed direction mid-air. Under the influence of the Falling Rule Fragment, Lin Ye forcibly used it to destroy another egg-shaped object.

The moment the egg-shaped object was destroyed, the Black Threads suddenly reversed their spin and pulled back, widening the distance from Lin Ye.

The Black Threads rotated at incredible speed, but Lin Ye had already retrieved his Crowbar. He threw it again, but this time, because the distance was greater and the Black Threads were on alert, the Crowbar missed the egg-shaped object and struck the threads instead.

Watching the Black Threads retreat further, Lin Ye quickly hurled a third Crowbar, but this time it failed to hit the ever-shifting speed of the threads. They were far more agile than he had imagined.

Lin Ye could only watch as the Black Threads disappeared from his field of vision.

"This thing is way too hard to kill. I wonder how many egg-shaped objects I'd need to destroy before it breaks down."

Just as Lin Ye was pondering this, his body completely collapsed, and his consciousness began to blur.

……

[Simulation Ended]

[Remaining Simulation Attempts: 7]

[Obtained Random Items from This Event*7]

[Obtained Title: Deep Sea Ruins Explorer]

Lin Ye sat up from the bed. He had thought he needed to destroy that Black Thread to complete the mission, but it turned out this was already over.

"Maybe after destroying that egg-shaped object, the Black Thread was severely wounded. Perhaps the balance was broken and it was already dying, which is why the simulation mission ended."

Lin Ye picked up the Crowbar by his bedside. It was perfectly intact—this thing was even more useful than he had expected.

Setting the Crowbar down, Lin Ye began examining the loot that had appeared in the center of the bedroom.

First were three small egg-shaped objects.

[Material Transformation Device]

[This device can randomly transform nearby materials into other materials of the same level]

[Note: This effect has been disabled by the system. Perhaps you can take it outside the Shelter to use.]

"This thing is kind of interesting... too bad it can't be used inside the Shelter. If only it could designate a fixed object for transformation."

Lin Ye had Little Black move the three egg-shaped objects to the basement.

Next came two small pouches of orange-red powder.

[Clarity Solvent]

[Taking different doses of Clarity Solvent will cause varying degrees of change to the user's mental state]

[Note: Please dissolve it in a liquid before consuming.]

"...Mental state?"

Lin Ye didn't feel anything off.

"Whatever. The effect must have worn off by now."

He put away the Clarity Solvent and began examining the last two items.

They were two Black Threads whose widths were constantly shifting.

[Material Transformation Path]

[When used with the Material Transformation Device, it can transform other materials into an unknown substance]

[Note: Material determines strength.]

"Oh? There's a matching item too?"

The system information for both Black Threads was identical, but their lengths differed. One was only half a meter long, while the other was a full two meters.

Lin Ye didn't keep the Black Threads on him. Instead, he had Little Black deliver them to the basement.

He was worried that Black Thread might come looking for him.

Inside the Shelter, it was fine, but outside, it would be dangerous. Without the Crowbar, he had no way to attack the Black Threads at all.

After dealing with the loot, Lin Ye opened the system interface to check the title information.

[Deep Sea Ruins Explorer]

[You can always find deep-sea ruins, but whether you can walk out alive is another matter]

[Note: Need to find an entrance before entering the ruins?]

He closed the system interface. Lin Ye first took his pets to the Rest Area for lunch, then left the Shelter alone and took the Bus to the Library Station.

On the way, he encountered many Survivors. By now, most of the survivors had gained the ability to leave the Shelter.

Those Survivors showed deep respect when facing Lin Ye. Unlike in the Game Room, they didn't dare get too close to him.

Some of the Survivors sharing the same Bus didn't even dare to lift their heads.

Lin Ye didn't deliberately conceal his aura. This wasn't the outside world—he wanted to relax a little.

Soon, the Bus stopped at the Library Station. Lin Ye headed straight for the General Store behind the library. He wanted to use the card reader for the Boat Ticket, which would be much safer.

"Welcome."

Seeing Lin Ye, the boss's pupils slightly contracted, and he put on a friendly smile.

"I want to use the card reader to process this Boat Ticket. Can you handle it for me?"

Lin Ye took out the Boat Ticket and placed it on the counter.

"This is a very high-end system item. Processing something like this is extremely difficult."

The boss replied with some hesitation.

"You can't handle it? Do you know anyone who can?"

Lin Ye picked up the Boat Ticket, ready to put it away.

"No, what I mean is—it'll cost extra. 200 Trade points. You can pick it up in two hours."

The boss pinched the other side of the Boat Ticket with his fingers, flashing a slightly sleazy grin.

"Fine."

Lin Ye let go of the Boat Ticket and left the General Store. Two hours wasn't long—he could go to the Library and read for a bit.

Soon, Lin Ye entered the Library. There were only about a dozen Survivors inside, all reading on the first floor.

Lin Ye went straight to the second floor, picked up a book on the process of crafting spiritual energy items, and began reading.

Two hours passed quickly. Lin Ye returned to the General Store and retrieved the Boat Ticket. It looked the same, but he could feel that its surface now seemed to have an invisible film.

[Obtained Exploration Card Pack]

Lin Ye returned to the Shelter smoothly. He inserted the Boat Ticket into the card reader and found that the system prompt was indeed triggered.

But Lin Ye didn't use the Boat Ticket. He had just schemed against that organization earlier, and going to the mental world now was too dangerous.

Besides, it was time for him to advance. As long as he could use his true body, even if he ran into a Controller, he could hold his own.

"I just happened to get an exploration card related to crafting spiritual energy items. This kind of exploration mission should have nothing to do with the mental world."

Lin Ye inserted the newly obtained Exploration Card into the card reader.
