The moment Lin Ye and the others stepped out of the subway entrance, those pseudo-humans spotted them.
A large group of pseudo-humans burst out of the supermarket and charged straight at them.
Lin Ye raised his Spiritual Energy Rifle and sprayed bullets at the rushing pseudo-humans. He still hadn't fully figured out what these pseudo-humans were all about—maybe some offshoot of a research project.
All the pseudo-humans fell on the path toward Lin Ye. These things were only a little stronger than ordinary people; no matter how many of them there were, it didn't matter.
Lin Ye had no idea how they even managed to survive.
"Do you folks need to head into the supermarket and rest up? I can give you ten minutes."
Lin Ye turned back to the survivors and said.
"Are you sure you'll be okay, sir? Before this, someone killed a monster, but not long after, another monster tore open that person's body and crawled out from inside him."
A young man suddenly spoke up to warn him.
"So that's how it works. That's a pretty rare survival strategy... You don't need to worry about me, but thanks anyway."
Lin Ye was an expert at parasitism and transformation. These pseudo-humans would have a hard time turning him into one of them.
'No issues inside my body... Could it require close contact? Or is it related to that strange ritual?'
Lin Ye pulled out a knife and started examining the pseudo-humans' corpses. When he'd handled the bodies before, he'd only given them a rough check without looking too closely.

Through direct contact, Lin Ye used his mental energy to inspect the internal structures of the corpses. He discovered that inside these bodies was a unique organizational structure. When that structure was destroyed, it could trigger a form of mental resonance, which then replicated the same structure inside flesh-and-blood creatures, creating new pseudo-humans.
This was a mental infection born from fleshy structures.
In a normal spiritual energy environment, this method would have mediocre effects—the infection speed would be very slow. But here, the effect was surprisingly good.
Lin Ye's mental energy was extremely strong, so he wouldn't be affected by these pseudo-humans. If he were an ordinary mid-level spiritual energy user, he'd probably already been assimilated into a pseudo-human by now.
'Hmm... There's another special structure inside these pseudo-humans. It seems to be related to those piles of dumpling filling from before...'
Lin Ye didn't go back underground. Instead, he crossed the road and entered the supermarket. Inside, there were also piles of that dumpling filling stacked up.
Soon, Lin Ye stopped beside a pile of filling. He didn't touch the filling with his hands. Instead, he tossed a pseudo-human corpse onto the pile, then touched the pseudo-human corpse.
'Huh? This looks like some kind of transformation ritual. Is it trying to summon something? Or revive some existence? Piece together the body parts?'
Lin Ye quickly figured out the purpose of those piles of meat filling.
'It's really a clever approach. But too bad—it's my approach now.'
Lin Ye began modifying the flesh structures of those pseudo-human corpses one by one. He was going to alienate these pseudo-human corpses and turn them into parasitic nodes that could operate in this environment.
He didn't have much spiritual energy to spare at the moment, but modifying corpses didn't require using his own spiritual energy. He could just use the inferior spiritual energy in the air. After all, he didn't care if these corpses got ruined.
There was plenty of material. He just needed to keep the framework of this pseudo-human-sacrifice system and stuff some of his own ideas inside.
This brand-new Parasitism Network wouldn't even need his direct control. It could automatically infect nearby anomalous creatures on its own.
The infection ability of those previous pseudo-humans was still too weak. With Lin Ye's understanding of parasitism and the laws of flesh and blood, the new pseudo-humans he created would not only have overwhelming infection capabilities but also a certain degree of combat power. If they managed to infect a powerful anomalous creature, special parasitic nodes would even be born from the anomalous creature's corpse.
'Too bad I can't use mental energy on a large scale. If I could, this would be a lot easier. I wouldn't even need development time.'
Lin Ye patted the pseudo-human corpse that had been alienated into a multi-legged spinal crawler. The multi-legged spinal crawler quickly scurried toward the subway entrance.
Several alienated bodies of various strange shapes followed behind it. They would go assimilate those piles of dumpling filling on the first underground level, then delve deeper into the underground tunnels to deal with the pseudo-humans and dumpling filling at other subway stations.
If they encountered other anomalous creatures, they would also try to assimilate those anomalous creatures into part of the new Parasitism Network—like those giant worms.
'Yeah, this cleaning method is way more convenient. If I had to clear out the city district bit by bit, I'd be working alone until tomorrow morning and still not finish.'
Lin Ye implanted a Spiritual Parasite into each alienated body and assigned them tasks. With the Spiritual Parasite's influence, even if he couldn't connect to the Parasitism Network, he could still control these alienated bodies.
"Boss, they want me to ask you—can they stay here?"
The man who had replaced his limbs with pseudo-human ones approached Lin Ye and asked cautiously.
"Sure. I'm not set on taking you all with me anyway. The fewer people I have to bring, the easier it'll be for me."
Lin Ye answered casually.
He didn't really care about what these people thought or chose. After all, most ordinary people wouldn't trust a stranger who could turn corpses into monsters.
Even if that stranger had happened to save their lives.
"Thank you for your help. We won't hold you back, then."
The man was actually a bit afraid of Lin Ye too. He was scared Lin Ye might turn him into one of those monsters too.

Lin Ye turned and left the supermarket. Without these burdens dragging him down, he could travel through the underground tunnels all the way to the organization's base.
Compared to being underground, the surface was a bit more dangerous.
Before long, Lin Ye followed the underground tunnel to the next platform. Strange-shaped alienated bodies were lying all over the platform. The ones that had come earlier had already cleaned this place up.

Lin Ye noticed some fleshy root tendrils mixed with emerald-green spots dangling down onto the staircase of the platform. Those root tendrils didn't look like they were part of the alienated bodies.
'We already have a special infected body this fast? That shouldn't be right.'
Lin Ye touched the nearest alienated body. That alienated body crawled up from the ground and scurried over to where those root tendrils were.
Those fleshy root tendrils seemed to sense the approaching alienated body. They plunged into the alienated body like living things, tearing it into pieces.
'These root tendrils seem to be made from that dumpling filling... Is this some kind of backup measure?'
When those fleshy root tendrils moved, Lin Ye sensed a strange mental fluctuation, similar to the mental resonance that induced the formation of the pseudo-humans' flesh structures.
Lin Ye placed his hand on the back of an alienated body and began modifying its body structure, implanting a new Spiritual Parasite inside.
On top of the Spiritual Parasite, Lin Ye carved that special spiritual imprint originating from the Dreamrealm.
