For the Central Continent, the Heavenly Court had dispatched a hundred thousand troops, the Heavenly Void Mystic Realm two hundred thousand, and the Mysterious Yellow Great World four hundred thousand, although the number wasn’t high, the combat strength of a hundred and fifty thousand celestial soldiers was equivalent to twice that of the latter.

The red-haired old man walked into the military barracks deep within the drill grounds.

As soon as he entered, he saw a majestic man wearing armor and holding a pagoda in his hand, it was indeed the Pagoda-Bearing Heavenly King, Li Jing.

"Heavenly King Li, I won’t waste words, whether you want to punish me or whatever, just give me a straight answer."

"The Demon Race is about to break through our defenses, when that happens, the Eastern Continent will be plunged into suffering and ruin, are you going to do something about it or not?" Ignoring the astonished gazes of the other generals, the red-haired old man stared straight at Li Jing.

The pagoda floated and rotated above his hand, Li Jing didn’t speak immediately, he looked quietly at the red-haired old man before saying indifferently, "General Daniel, you saw it yourself, my Heavenly Court is also out of troops."

"Then where are the troops?! You are the Heavenly Court! With the accumulation of countless ages, you only have this meager amount? Who would believe that?!" Daniel shouted with a scowl.

"If you don’t believe me, I can give you a token, aside from the sleeping chambers of the fairies, you can enter anywhere in the Heavenly Court to see for yourself." Li Jing didn’t waste his breath either, directly tossing a token to Daniel.

Daniel’s brows furrowed even more severely. "Has your Heavenly Court only trained a hundred and fifty thousand celestial soldiers after all these years? How is that possible? What have you been doing?"

"General Daniel, you do not know the immense cost of managing the Heavenly Court, those resources are already strained just maintaining operations!" Li Jing maintained his indifferent expression.

"Then what about the Eastern Continent? Are we just going to let the Demon Race break through? What about the mortal commoners? What about my fallen soldiers?!" Daniel couldn’t comprehend how such a massive Heavenly Court could have no troops to spare.

Li Jing didn’t speak, he merely looked at Daniel in silence, Daniel instantly understood his meaning.

They didn’t care, they would just let them die.

A surge of fury rose from the depths of his heart. "Even if there are no troops, there are still you Heavenly Gods! Send Erlang Shen! He alone can hold off an army of ten thousand!"

"General Daniel, why do you think you haven’t encountered any terrifyingly powerful Demon Race experts yet?" Li Jing asked indifferently.

Daniel’s brows locked together. "You mean... Erlang Shen and the others went to intercept the Demon Race experts?"

"Of course, my Heavenly Court hasn’t been sitting idle, you have the token, go see for yourself whether the high-end combatants are still here." Li Jing nodded slightly.

Daniel felt a suffocating breath stuck in his chest, incredibly uncomfortable, yet he didn’t know how to vent it. "Damn it! Are we just supposed to sit around waiting for death? Just let the Demon Race invade and occupy the Mysterious Yellow Great World?!"

"General Daniel, go back, do not worry about this, just do your own job, even if you cannot hold the Eastern Continent, no one will blame you, we all know you have done your best!" Li Jing’s expression was light and breezy, as if what Daniel was describing was an incredibly trivial matter.

"Why can you all be so calm?! Is it because those dying aren’t the Heavenly Court’s troops? Not the Heavenly Court’s people?!" Daniel finally couldn’t hold back, he had had enough of these people’s expressions.

"General Daniel, do not be angry, anger cannot solve any problems," Li Jing said calmly.

"What use is your Heavenly Court?!" Daniel hurled the token back at him and vehemently cursed at the gods present.

The pent-up frustration in his chest eased significantly, then, without sparing Li Jing or the other gods another glance, he turned and stormed off.

Li Jing and the other gods watched Daniel’s retreating back, their expressions remained light and breezy, as if they hadn’t just been cursed at.

But at the very end, the corners of their mouths suddenly curled up, revealing a sinister, evil smile.

The next day.

Adam and Cecilia acted as if nothing had happened the previous night, after eating breakfast at the inn, they started strolling through the streets.

As they walked, they discovered that they were out of money, so they arrived at the entrance of the magistrate’s office.

"My Lord, yesterday, a burly, bald lord confiscated my purse, saying it was for an investigation. I would like to ask if it could be returned today? This humble one is strapped for cash and about to run out of travel funds!" Adam asked the guards on duty with a respectful, pleading look.

"Bald and burly? You mean Captain Gale? He was kicked out of the magistrate’s office last night! He’s no longer a government official." The guard frowned, he had witnessed yesterday’s spectacle with his own eyes, it was simply too shocking, he gently fanned his hand in front of his nose, as if the stench still lingered.

"Ah? He was kicked out? Then what about my purse?! All my travel funds were in there!" Adam revealed a look of utter despair.

"I wouldn’t know anything about that, my office hasn’t seen any purse either!" A flash of envy crossed the guard’s eyes, although Captain Gale had been fired, he had secretly embezzled quite a lot of benefits over the years!
