Chapter 294 (Massage Chair Extra - )
However, this was an integral part of his plan, to completely clear his suspicion, he had to let the enemy investigate him.
Simply put, he needed to put himself on their whitelist so he could safely appear at Roan’s house later.
His plan was to set up a teleportation formation inside Roan’s house, directly linking it to the island.
But the Nova and Ash Clans would never allow a highly suspicious master-and-servant pair to enter Roan’s home.
This was the second step of Adam’s scheme, even if that pickpocket hadn’t shown up, Adam would have deliberately flashed his wealth on the streets to attract one.
This provided him with a perfectly valid and verifiable excuse to enter Roan’s house later.
Adam had also considered having Roan take his family somewhere else to set up the formation, but the risk was simply too high, Roan merely coming to an inn to eat was already being monitored by so many people.
If his entire family traveled to a specific location, they would face even stricter surveillance, perhaps even an outright interrogation.
With the cultivation levels of Roan’s family, they definitely wouldn’t be able to withstand that.
Only Roan’s own home was the most trusted environment, no one would suspect an ordinary master and servant of setting up a teleportation formation there.
"Let’s go back to the inn, they should track us down momentarily." Adam’s mouth curled into a smirk, and his and Cecilia’s figures vanished into the night.
Inside an ordinary room of an ordinary inn.
Adam lay on the bed, breathing evenly in deep slumber, Cecilia lay nearby on a makeshift bed formed by pushing tables together.
Just as the two were sleeping soundly, the window shifted, a small crack was opened, and a wisp of pale green wind blew into the room.
Half an hour later, two figures pushed the window open completely and slipped inside.
"My Lord, enough time has passed, you can ask them questions directly now!" one figure said to the other.
"I know that, you don’t need to tell me!" Carrol glared at his subordinate and walked over to the bed.
Looking at the still-sleeping Adam, he asked directly, "Do you know Adam?"
The soundly sleeping Adam shook his head, astonishingly, and even spoke aloud. "I don’t know him."
"What is your purpose in coming to the capital?" Carrol asked again.
"To see the world."
"Where did your cultivation come from?"
"An old Daoist taught me when I was young, after he died, I never advanced further!"
"Did you cause the excrement incident at the magistrate’s office?"
"I did it."
"Why? And how did you do it?"
"Because they took my purse, which contained all my travel funds, they still weren’t satisfied and wanted more money, I couldn’t bear it, so I used a minor illusion technique to teach them a lesson."
Carrol frowned slightly, realizing he couldn’t extract anything suspicious, he shifted his gaze to Cecilia.
"Do you know Adam?"
"I don’t know him."
"What is your purpose in coming to the capital?"
"To accompany the Young Master, he said he hasn’t seen a big city before and wanted to take a look!"
"Do you like your Young Master?"
Cecilia, similarly faking her hypnosis, almost blushed but hastily suppressed her shyness. "I like him, the Young Master treats me very well."
Carrol let out a disappointed sigh. "Let’s go, these two are normal!"
"Yes, My Lord!"
After the two flipped back out the window, Carrol suddenly whispered, "Remember to write a proper receipt when we get back, the cost of the illusion incense needs to be reimbursed."
"Don’t worry, My Lord, I’ll write it down as two doses and say the targets had two separate rooms!"
"Not bad, you can be taught after all!" Carrol nodded in deep satisfaction.
The two then slowly vanished into the night.
Inside the room, Cecilia was just about to speak when Adam stopped her through a telepathic voice transmission. "Don’t move."
Cecilia instantly suppressed the urge to speak.
Another half hour passed, and faint movement sounded outside the window once again.
"Let’s go, it seems there really isn’t any problem." This time, Carrol truly left with his subordinate.
Only after Adam’s Omniscience of All Things premonition faded entirely did he finally open his mouth.
"Alright, go to sleep, tomorrow we have to go visit Roan!"
"Mhm!" Cecilia nodded lightly, pulled the blanket completely over her head, and gave a blushing murmur of agreement.
The two fell back asleep in silence.
The Heavenly Court.
A red-haired old man was charging inward, brimming with unbridled fury.
"Where is the Pagoda-Bearing Heavenly King? Tell him to come out! I need to see him!"
"General, the Heavenly King is not in, please do not go any further!" The two guards grabbed the old man’s arms, trying to hold him back with helpless expressions.
"I don’t believe it! I’m going in to see for myself! I refuse to believe that this massive Heavenly Court can’t even spare a hundred thousand celestial soldiers!" The red-haired old man only wanted the support of a hundred thousand celestial soldiers, combined with his own surviving troops, even if they couldn’t push the Demon Race back, they would have no problem holding the defense line.
But the Heavenly Court simply refused to dispatch troops, he had to see with his own eyes if the Heavenly Court truly didn’t have a single soldier left to spare.
"General, why put yourself through this? Forcing your way in will only land you a severe criminal charge!" the guards continued to advise.
"Even if I get charged with a crime, I’m going in!" The red-haired old man showed no fear, so many soldiers under his command had died already, what was a mere criminal charge to him? What was there left to fear?
Suddenly, a deep, resonant voice echoed from within.
"Let him in!"
The two guards released the old man’s arms.
"Look, isn’t he right inside? Why pretend he’s not? I’d like to see what kind of medicine you’re selling in your gourds!" The red-haired old man snorted coldly and strode inside.
"I want to see for myself if your Heavenly Court truly has no troops left!"
The red-haired old man entered the Heavenly Court’s drill grounds, he discovered that aside from the celestial soldiers on standard guard duty, there truly were no other celestial soldiers or generals present, this caused his brows to furrow tightly.
This isn’t right!
