Golden Experience
Episode 17: Mercenary Union
Because the city is surrounded by walls, guards stand at its gates. Sometimes we control criminals, but the walls are basically for anti-demons, so they're not that tough.
Even unidentified people like Wayne, or the players, basically let me in if they don't have something that's forbidden to bring inside the city.
Most players have an inventory, so you don't have to worry about prohibited items.
Ask the guards where the accommodation is affordable and walk for a section with lots of accommodation. There won't be anything more dangerous than entering the city, but I'd like to override Lispawn Point early. Lispawn basically shows up at the last place he logged in, so he plans to log out once he gets to the inn.
The quarters taught by the guards were a lot more miserable, but if you don't actually sleep there unlike the NPC, it doesn't mean your inventory belongings will be stolen while you sleep. It's supposed to be a lodging or a safety area, and we can't basically take hostilities, including burglaries, inside the safety area.
I didn't mean to force myself to spend money on the Inn at the beginning.
When I checked in and walked into the room, the wooden bed was full of straw-like duvets, thin sheets and no other furniture.
Try being the guard who told me about this place, and Wayne's outfit would have looked like a cheap shirt and trousers, a short sword with a bad cut and how it looked like a runaway mercenary. Maybe he was going to tell me about this cheap inn with the kindness of trying to keep the money too. I was thankful for Wayne because I'm not actually wrong and I'm pretty sure I don't want to spend the money.
Logged out and logged in immediately. I don't think about the world because I'm off duty for three days from tomorrow. With this state-of-the-art machine, you can ignore toilets and meals if you want to. Though if I do that for the whole three days, I'll have to do a light rehab before I go to work.
Upon logging in, Wayne just decided to go to the mercenary union to find a quest.
Ask the owner of the inn where he is and head through the boulevard to the mercenary union. Though throughout the city, passing through alleys and insecure places doesn't necessarily mean you won't get into some kind of trouble. Whether you're in such trouble or sticking your neck in, it's after you get a little stronger.
I never get so lost than I taught the way. The city has been built in line with a fairly close urban plan, more than building a castle wall on the border to create a city. If you can get off the boulevard even if you're lost, I can point you back to your destination right away.
Because of the day, there were few mercenaries in the mercenary union. If you're in the normal day shift industry, I guess it's not often that you're not at work at this hour of the day.
Go to reception and the counter and tell them that you want to make money in this city for a while from today. There is no particular registration. Mercenaries and others are outlaws. I can't manage people who don't even know when they're going to die.
Therefore, all rewards are only successful rewards. If you don't bring back your accomplishments, even if you struggle to death, it won't be gold. Most players never die.
Wayne went on to ask for the sale of the wild rabbit he had hunted on the road. I can sell the body even as it is. After deducting demolition costs, fees, etc., it can be sold at the amount of material sold. It's just that corpses usually deteriorate gradually, so bringing them as they are can only be a bundle of three sentences. Wayne has no deterioration of the body because the inventory is available. Five wild rabbits were removed from the inventory and placed on a trolley next to the counter.
"Hey, you got a vault? Rare skills and cancer."
The receptionist looked mildly surprised.
Some NPCs are supposedly born with rare skills called vaults. That's what Wayne used for the inventory.
This means that the NPCs recognize the players as having such rare skills.
- All in all, instead of being born very rarely, there are just a few NPCs that can use the inventory compared to the players.
If, on the day they say, "I've seen a lot of guys like that lately," it would be 100% of the players. Definitely.
When you receive your Wild Rabbit bill, quickly review the quest board and review the request.
Requests brought to the mercenary union are now posted on the quest board. But mercenaries aren't allowed to peel it off and take it.
Mercenaries just confirm the request and tell at the reception when it is accomplished. At that time, for the first time, the request is stripped from the board.
A good enough request would be a deal, but I don't know who else besides myself is trying to fulfill that request. We must therefore check the board faster than anyone else and accomplish the request faster than anyone else.
It's not uncommon that as a result of working back for a day like that, someone had already achieved it, etc. If it's not the most unusual job, it will simply switch to your achievement because there are other similar requests.
For this reason, the client also wonders how much the reward will be. If it is high, of course, it will be achieved as a priority, but if it seems to be popular, many mercenaries will act to achieve it, and if they do so, it will soon be achieved even if they put it out for the second and third amount of a similar request. If it's too cheap, it won't be accomplished forever just by taking a commission. It's hard to tell. So much so that there are specialized intermediaries.
Wayne's aim is a less fruitful request. That and those with an old paste start date. A request around that would be less to wear with others.
Apparently, requests that seem to need to go to the woods are unpopular. Convenient.
Leaving the mercenary union, Wayne just decided to head into the woods.
There seems to be a boundary between the woods and the realm of demons, and guards have warned Wayne heading towards the woods. Leaving the city with proper flushing, Wayne went into the woods.
Even though it has boundaries with the realm of demons, it should be a normal forest up to that point.
Depression and trees thrive in the woods, dim even though it is daytime. It's hard to walk at my feet, and I can ask if there aren't many locals here. Forest walking itself is not so much used to, but it's not like I don't have any experience that I manage to keep exploring.
It's more authentic forest than Wayne thought. It doesn't look like it's a place to put it with your current gear. We need something like a natta that cuts off the dandruff, spreads, etc., and some clothes that don't expose the skin. It will be wasted early on in the initial gear.
Determining it was suicide to go any deeper, Wayne decided to head back to the city. You won't be able to accomplish the request, but there will still be some time after you go for that. Aim for requests that can be accomplished in the Awabari meadows while also hunting rabbits appropriately in the meadows until the money is saved.
The day ended up returning to the meadows, hunting about ten rabbits and returning.
