Golden Experience

Episode 18: Bran New Game

- Because of that, and I want to look different from my usual self.

An open beta test for a featured title that has finally begun. I don't usually play games or anything, but I decided to use this as an opportunity to try my hand at a VR game that I hated very little because I unexpectedly ran out of time for a long time.

The VR machine seemed to be usable in combination with the medical ones I normally use, and that was one of the factors I thought I would try.

Everything This game has made advances that are technologically isolated from previous VR games, and it was the celebrities' assessment that the game seemed to have exactly different worlds spread.

If you want to live in a different world, you want to live a completely different life than you have been before.

She thought so and dared not do a full scan of the avatar to start character creation.

"Soot... what is it? Something cute sounds. The race is now... Bones! You've got enough to skate!

For her, who doesn't usually play games or anything, skeleton was a less familiar word. I didn't think it was just bones.

But it is an opportunity. It's a race I chose once, though I don't know it. It looks a little too exquisite, but there will be nothing more in the sense of a different self.

"All right! The race is skeleton!

Once you've decided on the race, the skill structure is next. Even so, I have little idea of gaming skills, etc.

"What skills are good for skeletons... I have no idea...... Oh, that's why I want a wizard. Let's make it magic. I don't know what to do anyway, and you can do whatever you want."

Skills were acquired from the trees Fire Magic, Water Magic, Wind Magic, Earth Magic, Ice Magic, and Thunder Magic, respectively.

"I still have extra experience... Oh, if I skeleton, I'll get 100 more XP points! Rakie. All right, use the excess to boost your talent. You don't want magic? So judging? Then let's go all the way in. Extra anyway."

Thus the character creation was completed.

"What's your name... Hmm. Let's make it" Bran "! It's whitening. Just the bones."

That's how Bran logged in by selecting "Cave Environment" in the demonic realm.

Blanc spawned after the tutorial was a dimly jittery, cavern surrounded by rock walls. dim, but in fact it is a darkness without light at all. What appears dim is the effect of the "dark vision" of the racial characteristics of the Blanc race "Skeleton".

I heard from Support AI in the tutorial that there are only levels of Enemy near the initial spawn position that can be beaten enough by the character at the start of the game.

Bran first decided to take the cave to the exit. I didn't know which exit was the most, so I started walking in the wrong direction.

I walked many times with my feet taken because I had never even been a VR before, such as walking in a natural cave. After a few minutes of walking, there was a division, one cave as it had always been, but the other was more of a lateral hole than a passage, narrow enough not to proceed without crawling on all fours. But its inner walls were smooth and kind of tight, claiming the atmosphere that there was obviously something.

After a little thought, Bran decided to move on to that monstrous horizontal hole. Because this is my first game, and I wanted to make choices that I would never do if I were normal.

Horizontal holes are smooth on the floor and do not hurt to touch. I would have felt pain if I crawled on all fours and weighed in, though, and my knees and palms would have turned bright red, but fortunately now I'm bone body. She's light weight, no reddening skin, no painful meat.

Blanc once again praises his wisdom eye for choosing Skeleton, and proceeds through the horizontal hole. Eventually the narrow, painful horizontal hole ended, barely standing and out to the point where he could walk.

"Let's go to some room... ku..."

It was Ali who was there. However, it is of wood dog size.

"Hih."

And not one. Three ants were pointing toward Blanc, moving their tactile senses firmly.

A black silhouette in the dark, but Blanc felt he had eyes thanks to his dark vision.

Similar to that one. The face of a tinned bee on the cover of a big old insect atlas, seen in the VR library.

"Ghaaaaaaaa!

The ants attacked Blanc either in reaction to the shouting blanc reflexively or recognizing the shouting as an attack.

"Oh, yeah! Not if you're screaming! Monster! Attack, uh, magic..."

The ants were quick, but to such an extent that Blanc seemed to be able to move as much. If I had calmed down, I could have activated magic.

But it was the ants who took the lead, and Blanc spent precious response time returning from the mess.

By the time Bran confirmed in his brain how to activate the magic, Ali was already stuck on Bran's feet.

"Wow ants bite!

Ali relentlessly bit Bran's bone foot. Shiba dog-sized ant's jaw is correspondingly large, whereas Blanc's bone feet are correspondingly thin.

Ali is gaining momentum to chew Bran's leg off. Pain is not so much because I filter on pain in the game's initial settings, but the fact that my feet are about to be chewed off by ants is an unprecedented experience. Because it hurts less, I feel clearer about being attacked directly on my bones, and I also feel deeply uncomfortable about it.

"No, no, no, no...!

Bran manages to kick and strip ants, but Bran's kick, which has only bones, doesn't strip ants, and vice versa, results in more damage to his own legs eaten up by ants' jaws. Another ant attached to his kicked leg as well, and Bran fell over.

"Ah!......"

I guess I was waiting for Bran's head position to drop, another ant left with his body round and his ass pointed at Bran. No, was that insect not an ass but a belly exactly?

"Hey... ma"

Stimulating odorous liquid is vigorously sprayed from the poisonous glands at the tip of the ant's belly and descends on the upper body of the bran. The bone body sprays up smoke that looks bad for your health and dissolves out.

"Yikes..."

Bran's vision is dimmed, and in the dark, all he sees is a decrease in the countdown seemingly numerical value.

"Within an hour, you will receive resuscitation, will you lispawn immediately?

"Oh, you're dead... You know, it's too advanced for people to get their feet stuck and get acid punched out of their heads and killed! What a real feeling! Not so much pain, but other than that... it's gonna be traumatic. This is it!

But games are so hard... We can all do it well. Maybe I'm just a jerk. But, well, it's disgusting, but it doesn't mean it hurts so much or it's painful, and if you think it's the price of a mistake, you can't help it... "

The more I saw earlier in the game, I was confused by the sudden high level of murderous communication I received from creatures other than myself - it's unclear if I'm a skeleton - but if I calm down, this is just what I should have done then, or if I'd been more awesome, regret would have sprung up.

"Okay, it's not like I'm gonna wait here or Ali's gonna resuscitate me, or Lispawn? How can I go back to where I started? Oh, I guess there was a penalty when he died."

Find out about death penalties in Help before Lispawn agrees. Apparently, if you do lispawn by the system after death, you lose 10% of your total acquired experience to that point.

"That's heavy!... but if the total acquisition is below a certain amount, will there be no death penalty? The border is 200 and…. Skeletons are critical. Does a goblin make you weaker than your first state after just one death? Hie."

It's amazing how you lose the initial experience you've gained up to the point of bearing the disadvantage of being a demon in one mistake.

"Is it still Skeleton's strongest theory? For now, Lispawn,"

After a moment of intoxication, Bran woke up at the beginning of the cave. He stood where he was.

"Now we're going cautiously...... or we're not going into that horizontal hole anymore. That must be where I have to go before I get stronger, yeah."
