Episode 107: Connettle Defense

"Is the enemy undead? Even in the middle of the night, the general was awake because maybe the city was under attack that time."

The next day, Kelly bit her teeth when she asked at the mercenary union about the details of the defense.

If that's the case, you should have gone outside after that last night.

"Are you mercenaries in the vault? Well, as much as I appreciate you protecting me... Somehow, fundamentally, I don't know if I can do it so that the enemy doesn't attack me in the first place... I fly doves to the country...... Thanks for being so unresponsive."

A tired, middle-aged man standing at the union reception sighs like that.

As we discussed last night, the players still aren't going to be proactive in solving it.

There he is in the lobby, a man like a mercenary calling out.

"Well, I think we'd like to do something about it. We don't all think the same thing, and one or two of us just headed to the home of the undead..."

The mercenary man says so with regret. From the mouthfeel, he also has a vault - it looks like a player.

Apparently not everything about the player seems to matter.

This man is right, and if he thinks differently in each case, he also nods that it is difficult to keep up the footsteps.

I don't see how much mercenaries of this magnitude can scratch their beloved bosses where they gather.

But what if Kelly and the others of the same level were gathered together? Depending on the number of people and how they work together, it is possible that they can do as much damage as they can.

If many of those players were to get together and be hostile to the boss, not all of them should be exactly the same thoughts.

It may be possible to turn enemies from "large groups" to "many small groups" by following them around.

"Maybe that's true. What about you, by the way?

"Uh. I'm, uh, Gilgamesh."

It's a much poorly toothed introduction.

Is it a pseudonym? But I can't think of any reason why a player would name a player, Kelly, who would be thought to be.

"No, I know what you're trying to say. Different person. I think I finished my characlys first and I got a name, but now I'm more famous over there. He's got a narrow shoulder."

He doesn't seem to understand what Kelly is trying to say. Kelly wasn't sure what he was trying to say either, so it's mutual.

But I think the boss once said something about the name, so maybe they players can't have separate people giving the same name.

It's easy for Kelly to be named here, but if a player with the name Kelly exists, it can be a hassle.

But from his grammar, I can imagine that it could be given even a very similar name, as long as it was different.

"It's fine with Kelly about me. This is Riley, Remy and Marion. They're all nicknames, but that's what they call them, 'cause they're used to it."

That's what I decided to do.

"You've been playing with the four of us all the time?

"Right...... right. I'm going to go back because Riley's the only one who has some business to do."

I'm sleeping (logged out) in the inn room, so you can let him sneak out.

Riley has acquired a lot of skills for covert behavior, surrounding observation, etc., so there is no such thing as sneaking up on people. That's why we're investigating the enemy's best friend.

"Three, then. But if there's a raid tonight, why don't we act together?

You've never defended this city before, have you?

So is Wayne, but why do these players and others want to be so kind?

All those who ever approached Kelly and the others had the purpose of taking them or killing them. Even with this seemingly well-intentioned attitude like theirs, I only have distrust because I don't know what the purpose is.

But Kelly and the others hold one thing in their bellies.

"That would help. There's so much you need to know."

Gilgamesh and I broke up there once.

It's still a long time until night, and because I wanted to see how the city's residents were doing.

Besides, if it's night for the enemy to operate, it would be better for Riley to infiltrate during the day. There's no way anyone can find you at this exact time, but you just have to wear a hooded jacket or something to get out. Quite suspicious, but essential for a rather suspicious person thanks to the large number of players. It shouldn't be particularly noticeable.

"Okay, I'm coming."

We snuck Riley off at the inn and the three of us went out of town again.

Looking over the mall, I don't get the impression that there's a serious shortage of things.

It's certainly only the third day since Ibén started. I guess it hasn't gotten so far as to say that it's going to start to affect me in full.

"The potion is... a little pricey, I guess. If there's ever going to be no more arrivals, maybe we can make a fortune if we can get the materials ready."

"It depends on how you feel tonight, but if this one looks like you can afford it, Remy might be more efficient to have it turned to production. I don't know how long you're gonna stay in this city, but there's no boundless roadblocks."

The main ingredient of the potion, the herb upon which it is based, is native everywhere for the price. If you have daytime time, you should leave the city to collect it.

The fact that prices are rising seems to be due to a lack of either materials or producers. I mean, you either don't go outside in fear of demons, or there were fewer producers in the streets in the first place.

But either way, Remy should be able to make money.

He consolidated his approximate policy, waited for the night and joined Gilgamesh.

And by the time the book of the night begins to descend.

Get outside the outer wall and get ready for battle.

There are many mercenaries and city guards besides Kelly and the others. I don't know if I just saw it, but I guess some of these are players.

"Well, the sun goes down...... from about the time it's about to fall, the enemy starts gushing. It's about time."

"I'm sorry. What exactly does it mean to start springing? Are you coming out from under the ground?

"Oh, no. There's a little rock over there, and there's like a dense forest of trees, right? You have to get out of there."

There was certainly a rocky, large stoned place and a crooked tree growing to avoid the rock. It overlaps a lot, it's like a forest. That area would mean the entrance to the realm where demons are overflowing this time.

"Look. Here he comes."

As Gilgamesh put it, a few undead, presumably skeleton nights, crawl out of the woods and head to the city.

But by the mercenaries who waited, they would soon be hunted, dead and scattered around.

"... I have nothing to do"

"Not now. Efficiency, motivated players springing up and hunting - or, well, I'll knock them out soon, so I'm free, but it's getting darker and the number will be higher than the speed of knocking them out. Then I'll be busy."

From what I hear, these motivated players apparently go to another city during the day to hunt. I can use it once a day, using something like a transfer service to make efficient money back and forth in pairs. You think some of them are solo, outbound with transfer services, and return with fierce men doing it back to death?

More than half did not understand what they were saying, but only remembered what was spoken. Tell the boss later and he'll understand.

After a while of touring, the undead of discussion began to fall out more and more, and Kelly and the others had their turn.

First, Remy tows it with a bow or something, and Marion wipes it out with magic. Kelly and Gilgamesh approach and defeat them while waiting for that recast or MP recovery.

That's roughly the kind of routine we went on to hunt.

Because the enemy is too weak, the defense proceeds as if it were work.

That's more or less the same with this party, as well as with the battles of the other players.

If people in the city do see this, they also know what it's like to tell them to attack the enemy's main line if they can afford it so much.

"Well, it's more or less like this. There are some waves depending on the day, but this is a delicious event, including the XP Bonus. It's not much money because all the enemies are undead."

One paragraph and Gilgamesh opened his mouth where the raid calmed down.

"I see. I get it."

As a general comment, neither the city's guards, nor the players, nor the demons attacking this city, are a great threat.

Unless it was specially out of hand or something like that like Kelly and the others, if we could use the armies of Ali and Adamans, we could put them together and kill them in numbers.

The rest depends on Riley's report. In the boss's view, a presence like the Diaz could be scattered all over the continent, so it's hard to assume that the head of the regiment class is asleep just near this country, but the undead, who is the chief just in case, needs to be confirmed.

If you can accomplish that, all you have to do is interact with these players and duly kill time.

"It's just... You didn't come out with the lord of this city and the knight you thought was his family. Do you have any ideas, do you think it doesn't matter what the town is like?"

Attacks such as the undead, which were mixed at times, with different movements and gear than others, seemed to have killed many of the city's guard-like ones. Some knights and others would have reduced their damage as well.

If we're done investigating Riley, we might need to get him to explore that area as well.
