The Gift of Absolute Protection [Part 2]

He couldn’t let a treasure that could protect his students sit unused in his storage jade.

The thought made him sigh softly.

He sometimes wondered if he was becoming too protective.

Then he remembered the countless dangers they had faced.

The thought disappeared immediately.

No.

It wasn’t excessive.

They were his students.

Protecting them was natural.

After packing up, Leon began sorting through the other treasures.

His storage space was enormous.

It had accumulated so many things over time that even Leon sometimes forgot what he had placed inside.

He pulled out one treasure after another.

Some were useful.

Some were valuable.

Some were simply too ordinary for him now.

Leon separated them into different piles.

Those worth keeping.

Those worth giving away.

And those that could be sold.

He eventually came across one particular treasure.

A thin needle.

Its surface was dark and carried a faint sinister glow.

Leon picked it up between two fingers.

"For example..."

He examined it for a moment.

A Yama’s Life Stealing Needle.

A medium-grade spirit artifact.

Its power might not be comparable to the needles of Whitedesire Mountain Patriarch.

But that comparison was unfair.

Whitedesire Mountain Patriarch’s treasures were extraordinary.

In the eyes of ordinary cultivators, this Yama’s Life Stealing Needle was already an excellent Dharma treasure.

It could kill an enemy without warning.

It could pierce spiritual barriers.

And in the hands of a skilled cultivator, it could become a terrifying assassination weapon.

Leon looked at it for a moment longer.

Then he placed it into the pile meant for auction.

He had no use for it.

Other than the Yama’s Life Stealing Needle, there were also a few ordinary spirit weapons and treasures.

Leon looked at the growing pile.

He couldn’t be bothered to calculate these things.

There was simply too much.

And none of it was particularly important to him.

In any case, they were useless to him, so he might as well sell them all.

The auction house would take care of the rest.

If someone needed them, they could buy them.

If someone was willing to pay a high price, even better.

Leon wasn’t interested in hoarding treasures just for the sake of hoarding them.

Resources had to circulate.

A treasure sitting untouched inside a storage jade was nothing more than a dead object.

Turned into spirit stones, cultivation resources, or materials, it could become useful again.

That was what Leon preferred.

He continued sorting.

The room gradually filled with small piles of treasures.

Outside, the light shifted.

The golden sunlight slowly moved across the floor.

The noise of Ashford City changed with the passing hours.

Morning gradually became afternoon.

The busy streets became even livelier.

Merchants shouted.

Travelers moved through the streets.

The aroma of food drifted into the guest room whenever the door opened somewhere along the corridor.

Inside the room, however, Leon remained focused on his work.

He calmly sorted through everything.

One treasure at a time.

One decision at a time.

By the time he finally finished, half a day had passed quickly.

Leon leaned back in his chair and stretched slightly.

He glanced toward the window.

The sunlight had already changed.

It was warmer now.

The shadows were longer.

He looked at the piles of treasures beside him and nodded with satisfaction.

"That’s enough."

He had cleaned out a considerable portion of his storage jade.

The treasures he truly needed remained.

Everything else could be exchanged for useful resources.

Leon had just begun organizing the remaining items when footsteps suddenly sounded outside.

Light.

Quick.

Familiar.

Leon immediately recognized them.

A moment later—

"Master, we’re back!"

The door to the room was pushed open and Selena and Rias walked in happily.

The warmth of the afternoon followed them through the doorway. Their footsteps were light, and there was still a trace of excitement on their faces from their carefree outing.

For once, there was no tension in their shoulders, no vigilance in their eyes. They had spent several hours simply walking through the city, looking at clothes, wandering through the streets, and enjoying the rare feeling of having nothing urgent to worry about.

Leon didn’t even raise his head and only asked, "Did you have fun? Did you encounter anything dangerous?"

"Yes, Teacher, we had fun. And no, don’t worry, Teacher, we didn’t encounter any danger. What are you busy with?"

Rias came over curiously. She leaned down beside Leon, supporting her chin with both hands as she squatted beside him, her red hair falling loosely around her shoulders.

Her large crimson eyes followed his hands.

Leon was sitting beside a low table covered with treasures. Various weapons, pills, spirit artifacts, and other cultivation resources had been neatly arranged into separate piles. Some of them carried faint fluctuations of Mana, while others looked ordinary enough to be mistaken for common objects.

Rias blinked several times.

Her expression was so openly curious that Leon finally looked up.

For a moment, he simply stared at her.

Then the corner of his mouth lifted slightly.

She really was easy to amuse.

Leon said indifferently, "Yes, I just tidied things up and accidentally found these two inner armors. Return the ones I gave you previously and wear these to see how effective they are."

Selena and Rias both froze.

Then their eyes lit up almost simultaneously.

Again?

They had only just received treasures from Leon earlier, and now he was giving them something even better.

Selena glanced toward the two pieces of armor resting on the table. Her blue eyes became serious almost immediately.

She knew that Leon wasn’t someone who handed things out carelessly.

If he had specifically chosen these two for them, there had to be a reason.

Selena hurriedly walked over and carefully sensed the cold aura radiating from the Ice Dragoness Scale Armour.

The moment her fingers touched its surface, a faint chill spread through her palm.

It wasn’t an ordinary coldness.

The temperature seemed to penetrate directly into the Mana within her body, yet it did not harm her. Instead, the armor responded naturally to her cultivation, forming a thin defensive layer that seemed capable of protecting her from attacks from all directions.

Selena’s eyes widened.

"This is supreme-grade inner armor!"
