Chapter 404: The Supreme-Grade Inner Armor
The Supreme-Grade Inner Armor
Selena’s eyes widened.
"This is supreme-grade inner armor!"
Her voice carried genuine surprise.
In The Forsaken Domain, high-level defensive treasures had always been rarer than offensive weapons. A powerful weapon could increase one’s killing power, but armor could save one’s life at the exact moment when everything went wrong.
And when cultivators fought at similar levels, that difference could determine life and death.
A sword could be replaced.
A life could not.
Selena slowly ran her fingers across the surface of the Ice Dragoness Scale Armour, her expression becoming increasingly astonished.
Leon watched her reaction quietly.
He wasn’t surprised.
He had already tested the armor’s defensive properties himself.
It was considerably stronger than the two pieces he had originally given them.
Rias leaned closer as well, her crimson eyes shining with interest.
She carefully examined the Phoenix Feather Armour.
Unlike Selena’s armor, which carried a deep and refreshing chill, Rias’s armor contained a gentle warmth. The Mana within it moved like a sleeping flame, quietly circulating beneath its surface.
When Rias touched it, the armor gave off a faint red-gold glow.
She smiled immediately.
"It feels warm."
Leon gave a small nod.
"That one suits you."
Rias looked at him.
For some reason, those simple words made her smile even brighter.
Selena glanced sideways at her fellow student and caught that expression.
Rias noticed.
Their eyes met.
For a heartbeat, neither said anything.
Then Rias gave Selena a small, victorious smile.
Selena raised an eyebrow.
"You’re very happy."
"Of course."
Rias hugged the armor lightly against herself.
"It was given by Teacher."
Selena’s lips curved faintly.
She couldn’t argue with that.
After all, she felt the same way.
Leon watched the two girls exchange glances and shook his head helplessly.
They had gone from fighting over nothing to silently competing over who had received the better treasure.
He found it amusing.
"Teacher, do you want to auction these things?" Selena asked as she took out the inner armor Leon had previously given her.
Leon nodded.
"There’s no use keeping these things. I can sell them. When I have money later, I can collect more herbs and refine pills. Our Amethyst Summit Division doesn’t lack anything except money."
Selena nodded.
That was indeed the truth.
Their division had cultivation techniques, treasures, spiritual herbs, and even a teacher who seemed capable of producing treasures whenever he felt like it.
Money was the one thing they constantly lacked.
Leon had no intention of throwing away useful treasures simply because he didn’t need them.
If something could be exchanged for Mana stones, herbs, materials, or rare resources, then there was no reason to let it gather dust inside his storage jade.
Selena carefully put away the old armor.
Rias did the same.
The two then took the new inner armors and went into another room.
Leon deliberately turned his attention back toward the treasures on the table.
"Go change in the other room. There’s no need to rush."
"Yes, Teacher."
Both girls answered almost together.
They exchanged a glance before disappearing into the adjoining room.
A moment later, the sound of fabric shifting could be heard from behind the closed door.
The new armor was designed to be worn beneath their outer robes, close to the body and over their inner garments. It wasn’t meant to replace their clothing or expose anything. Its purpose was protection, allowing the armor to remain concealed beneath their usual cultivation robes.
Selena was the first to finish.
She adjusted the Ice Dragoness Scale Armour over her inner robe and carefully checked the fit around her shoulders, waist, and arms.
It was surprisingly light.
The armor didn’t restrict her movement at all.
She bent her arm.
Then she turned her waist.
Nothing felt uncomfortable.
The armor responded naturally to every movement, almost as if it had been made specifically for her.
Rias finished shortly afterward.
She adjusted the Phoenix Feather Armour beneath her red robes and flexed her shoulders.
A faint warmth spread across her body.
She smiled.
"This is comfortable."
Selena nodded.
"Mine too."
The two girls looked at one another.
Then they looked down at their new armor.
Neither needed to say it.
They both knew this treasure was far more valuable than what Leon had given them earlier.
They returned to the room together.
When they stepped out, their robes remained properly arranged over the inner armor, revealing nothing except the subtle change in how naturally the garments rested against their bodies.
Leon finally looked up.
His purple eyes moved over them briefly.
He immediately noticed the difference.
The armor fitted them perfectly.
There was no awkward bulk beneath their robes, no stiffness in their movements. Selena’s snow-white robes fell naturally around her, while Rias’s layered red silk moved smoothly with every step.
Leon smiled.
"Not bad."
The two girls’ expressions brightened.
Rias turned slightly.
"Teacher, does it fit well?"
"It does."
Leon nodded.
"Much better than the previous ones. These should offer considerably stronger protection."
Selena touched the edge of her sleeve and smiled softly.
"Thank you, Teacher."
Rias nodded beside her.
"Thank you, Teacher."
Leon waved his hand.
"There’s no need to thank me every time."
He glanced at the old inner armors they had returned.
"These two can be sold later."
Selena nodded.
Rias happily followed her.
For a moment, the atmosphere inside the room became strangely peaceful.
The city outside remained noisy. Merchants shouted from the streets below, carts rolled across stone roads, and distant cultivators spoke loudly about treasures and cultivation.
Yet inside this small guest room, everything felt quiet.
Leon looked at the two girls.
They looked happy.
That was enough.
He had always believed that cultivation was ultimately about protecting the people one cared about.
If he could give them better protection, then why wouldn’t he?
Especially when he was often away from them.
There would eventually be moments when Leon could not arrive in time.
At those moments, the armor would have to speak for him.
Selena seemed to understand his thoughts.
She lowered her eyes briefly.
Having a Teacher like this was something she had never expected.
Leon didn’t simply give them treasures.
