Chapter 772: The Truth Told by the Female Supervisor
Back in the hotel room, they closed the door behind them.
Both of them were utterly crestfallen.
A sat on the bed for a long while, then looked at Y and said, "Let's go. Let's go stay at another hotel!"
The moment he finished speaking, a loud knock echoed at their door again.
A was so startled his whole body shrank, including his manhood.
Y, after all, was braver, and it was clear that among the three of them, SAY, he was the backbone holding them together.
He walked over.
His right hand rested on the cold metal door handle.
His right hand trembled slightly. He closed his eyes, his expression like someone facing an execution.
When he opened his eyes again, it was as if he had steeled himself to face anything.
In other words, he had mentally prepared himself to see that female ghost the moment he opened the door.
He opened the door.
When the door swung wide, a woman did indeed appear.
But it wasn't that female ghost. It was...
The female supervisor from the hotel from before.
"Huh? You?"
Y was astonished. Why would the female supervisor show up here?
At that moment, the female supervisor had a stern expression on her face. "You two moved too fast on the first floor. I had something I didn't get to ask you in time."
Y asked, "What is it?"
The female supervisor spoke through the doorway. "How did you two know about Lucas? Are you his friends or relatives? Otherwise, since he's been gone so long, there's no reason for you to know him."
Y's expression was grim. "If you want to know, come in."
"It's a bit of a long story."
Y let the female supervisor in, and once she entered, he closed the door again.
"Go ahead, how do you know about Lucas?"
The female supervisor asked.
Y looked serious. "You might not believe this, but not long ago, he pushed a housekeeping cart in here to clean our room, and we even gave him a five-dollar tip."
Y expected the female supervisor to not believe him and to get angry that they were joking about the dead.
But the female supervisor simply looked thoughtful instead.
Y was shocked. "You believe what we're saying?"
The female supervisor nodded.
She said, "Actually, it's not just you. After Lucas died, plenty of other guests have seen him too. I've seen him myself."
A hint of melancholy crossed the female supervisor's face. "Too bad I only saw him once. So, when he appeared to you, did he say anything, and have you experienced any strange things since then?"
Y said, "He told us the hotel was haunted and to move out. We didn't believe him, and then unexplained knocking started coming from our room. My friend and I both saw a female ghost with disheveled hair."
He pointed to A, who was sitting on the bed.
The female supervisor's expression was complicated.
"You two are lucky. And of course, it was your kindness that saved you."
Y asked her what she meant by that.
So the female supervisor explained.
"Lucas often shows up in front of all kinds of guests, pretending to be a cleaner, just like when he was alive. He comes in to clean their rooms. If the guests in that room are very polite and friendly, he'll give them a kind warning. If the guests act indifferently, he'll just finish cleaning and leave without saying a word."
"Also, our hotel really is haunted. And it's pretty bad. The source is a female ghost—the same one you saw. Lucas warned you because he sensed that female ghost had already set her sights on you. That's why he told you to get out of this hotel as soon as possible."
A and Y listened, and their faces both went pale.
A stammered, "So... Lucas was kindly warning us that a female ghost was targeting us, not... that she was his doing? We were wrong about him all along?"
The female supervisor said, "From what you've described, I can piece it together. You started encountering strange things and seeing that female ghost only after you met Lucas.
"Especially since Lucas warned you the hotel was haunted. That's why you suspected he was behind it all—because what are the odds? The moment he says it's haunted, you really do meet a ghost.
"But honestly, I don't blame you. That's normal. It's just like how people think crows are a symbol of disaster and misfortune—wherever a crow shows up, bad things follow. But really, crows are just flying over because they smell rotting meat from afar."
Y asked at this point, "So what should we do now? Should we follow Lucas's advice and leave this hotel as soon as possible?"
The female supervisor nodded.
"Yes, you should move out of this hotel as soon as possible. That female ghost has only appeared once or twice so far, right? If she shows up in front of you a total of ten times, the tenth time will be your death."
"She's already set her sights on you."
After A heard this—this lab rat who had faced off against plenty of deranged criminals and serial killers in the Alice Apartment over eight survival rounds—was now trembling like a fresh lab rat just entering the Alice Apartment. He immediately started packing his things, ready to flee this place.
As for Y, although he was tense too, he still asked the female supervisor a question.
"I have a question. Why did that female ghost target us? And you're a staff member here—doesn't she target you?"
The female supervisor replied, "Why target you? Simple. Because you're guests. As for why she doesn't go after the staff here, it's because she never targeted the staff from the very beginning. She only goes after the guests staying here."
Y was even more confused.
The female supervisor continued to explain.
"That female ghost used to be a staff member at our hotel too. She was beautiful, like a model. It was because of her beauty that our hotel boss took a liking to her. But our boss was already married, so that female ghost became his mistress, the other woman."
"The good times didn't last. The boss's wife found out he was cheating with a female employee. She flew into a rage and demanded a divorce."
"Naturally, the boss didn't want that. His entire fortune came from his wife's family, so he tried to find a way to get rid of that female ghost."
"But by then, that female ghost was already pregnant. How could she possibly give up on that relationship? Even when the boss offered her a breakup fee, she refused. She kept clinging to him. The boss had no choice, so he played some dirty tricks."
"The dirty trick was hiring some local thugs—a few black men and white men—to rape that female ghost. That way, the boss would have an excuse to break up with her."
"Anyway, she did eventually break up with the boss because of that incident. She also received some money for prenatal care. But somehow, she found out later that the thugs who assaulted her were actually sent by the boss. So she showed up at his door again to confront him. But the boss was cold and ruthless, completely unmoved by her accusations."
"Maybe it was despair. Maybe it was something else. Most likely, it was betrayal. In the end, she jumped from the top floor of our hotel."
