Chapter 788: The Deadly Trap at the Steel Mill
“You don’t seem like a bad person. Many of you Asians are honest folks, not like white men or black men, who commit more crimes,” the Latina beauty said bluntly. After all, in Western countries Asian crime rates really are low.
That’s why people tended to think of Asians as good kids.
“But even if many Asians are so-called honest people, not all Asians are good. There are bad ones among them too,” Jiang Ran added.
The Latina beauty laughed.
“In any case, you definitely aren’t a bad person, because a bad person would never be generous enough to give me ten euros,” she said.
Jiang Ran fell silent for a long time.
After quite a while of silence, he asked, “How long do you plan to keep doing this?”
The Latina beauty felt a pang of sorrow at his question.
“Honestly, I don’t want to do this either, but my boyfriend forces me. I thought that since I was dating a German boyfriend, I could live in Germany long-term. Turns out he forced me out to sell myself, and he spends the money,” she vented.
“And you know what? He’s so much older than me, old enough to be my father,” she continued, pouring out her frustrations to Jiang Ran.
As she spoke, Jiang Ran opened his eyes, planted his hands on the ground, and slowly pushed himself up, then stood upright.
The Latina beauty stood up too.
Then Jiang Ran turned to her and said one sentence.
“If you want a stable future, try looking for an Asian. But in the end, it’s up to you.”
After saying that, Jiang Ran got up and left. The Latina beauty followed for a short distance, until she watched Jiang Ran drive away in a Mercedes sports car.
…………
The Aisen Town steel mill had been abandoned for two or three decades. It was remote; don’t mention nights, even in daytime hardly anyone came. Of course, some thrill-seekers had visited.
It was already 8 PM, the sky pitch black, with only a sickle moon and a scattering of stars on the dark canvas.
Jiang Ran drove the Mercedes sports car and arrived at the abandoned steel mill as promised.
Now Jiang Ran sat inside the car, which was parked outside the mill gate. From inside the car he looked out at the bleak, dark factory.
The whole place was unnervingly silent, as if no person existed there.
Such a location was perfect for a haunted house—exactly the kind of place that made people terrified of each other.
The only drawback was that Germany was still cold this time of year, so small animals were probably hibernating. There were no crows cawing or other small animal noises to garnish the terrifying scene.
The abandoned steel mill had four large gates.
Jiang Ran drove around the perimeter and saw no one.
Three of the gates were blocked by piles of debris behind those heavy iron doors; only one gate was completely open, convenient for vehicle entry.
Without hesitation, Jiang Ran drove through the only passable iron gate, the Mercedes headlights lighting the road ahead.
The car moved slowly, inching into the mill. When the rear of the car fully passed the gate, the front of the Mercedes suddenly lost support, as if it had fallen off a cliff.
Jiang Ran immediately reversed.
But it was too late. From behind the Mercedes came a massive shove, bang, and both man and car pitched forward.
They plunged into a huge pit.
The pit was about eight meters deep.
It was wide as well. After Jiang Ran’s Mercedes fell in, it was a situation where the car could sit on all four wheels at the bottom.
As the Mercedes hit the pit, several dark figures appeared along the rim, their flashlights stabbing down into the hole.
When the lights fell on Jiang Ran as he climbed out of the car, the figures along the edge let out nasty chuckles.
“It’s Jiang Ran, no doubt about it, him.”
“Hahaha, boss is amazing, he really trapped Jiang Ran in the pit. Before he said he’d prepared a big pit for Jiang Ran in his plan, I thought he was speaking figuratively. Who knew he actually made this kind of pit and dropped Jiang Ran into it.”
“Hey, you think Jiang Ran can climb out?”
“Climb out? How could he climb out? This pit is a full eight meters deep. Don’t even talk about us messing around at the edge—if we didn’t interfere, could he still get out? If he could climb out, he could go make movies, surpassing that martial arts superstar from Hua Country.”
“Yeah, yeah, that’s true. Definitely impossible to climb out. By the way, what’s the boss planning to do with him?”
“In half an hour a cement truck will come by. We’ll fill this hole with concrete.”
“Damn! So he’ll be buried in concrete? That’s such a humiliating way to die!”
The shadows outside the pit chattered together.
The Special Live Stream’s chat was also buzzing with nonstop discussion.
Mi—American Captain: [Holy crap! I thought Jiang Ran was going to die after a fierce fight, but why did he fall into a pit right as he showed up?]
Maple—White Supremacy: [No chance, really no chance. That pit is too deep; nobody could climb out. This is a lamb led to slaughter. Stop arguing and watch lab rat Jiang Ran meet his end!]
Hua—Ultimate Rich Kid: [You foreigners, I’ve told you countless times to have faith in Jiang Ran. He won’t die. This small pit can’t stop him.]
Maple—Freedom: [I estimate that pit is eight or nine meters deep, roughly two and a half floors. The walls are vertical with no slope. For a 3–5 meter pit, a normal person falling in would struggle to self-rescue. An eight-meter pit requires external rescue. No chance… Even if Zhu Hong from the American Alice Apartment fell in, I don’t think he could get out. Especially with people causing trouble at the rim.]
Whether Freedom said it or not, many viewers thought the same after Jiang Ran fell—this pit was simply too deep, and the live camera angle wasn’t ideal.
In the real world, at the bottom of the pit.
Jiang Ran looked up, squinting against the flashlight beams randomly sweeping his face. A faint smile tugged at the corner of his mouth.
He asked, “Where’s Manager Xiao Zhang? Wasn’t he the one who called me here?”
