Chapter 547 - 539: Inheritance Ancestral Land (Part 2)
TAP TAP TAP!
Collison tapped his fingers on the table, thinking, ’It seems Gorthe most likely ran into danger after leaving the Imperial Capital.’
’The Gorthe who returned to the Imperial Capital was an enemy in disguise all along.’
’Damn it, the enemy was in the Royal Palace for half a day before we found any trace of them...’
’The two missing patrol guards were only discovered during the shift change tonight. That means the enemy was hiding among the patrol all along. They can change their appearance... Could they be from the Illusion Demon Race?’
’They followed the patrol all afternoon and only left a trail at the very end, which probably means they found what they were looking for.’
"Where was the last place the patrol passed?"
After making his deductions, Collison looked at the adjutant beside him and asked.
The adjutant quickly replied, "The Inheritance Ancestral Land."
"The patrol’s last stop was the Inheritance Ancestral Land. After that, they returned to the main gate for the shift change."
"The enemy’s target is most likely the Inheritance Ancestral Land! Quick, notify the guards inside!"
As soon as he said that, Collison stood up. "No, you go assemble the Personal Guard. I’ll head to the Inheritance Ancestral Land first. I hope nothing’s gone wrong."
"The Inheritance Ancestral Land is far too important. Not a single thing can be allowed to go wrong."
The adjutant quickly responded, "Yes, sir."
Collison put on his equipment and rushed toward the Inheritance Ancestral Land with the few guards at his side.
It would take time for the adjutant to assemble the Personal Guard, and he had no time to wait.
When Collison arrived at the Inheritance Ancestral Land, he found everything still in order and breathed a slight sigh of relief.
The guards at the Inheritance Ancestral Land saw Collison and quickly saluted him.
"Commander."
Collison asked, "Have you seen anyone suspicious?"
The guard thought for a moment, then shook his head. "We haven’t. No one has come near the Inheritance Ancestral Land today."
"Is that so?" Collison’s tense heart finally relaxed.
If anything were to happen to the Inheritance Ancestral Land, not even death would be enough for him to atone.
Still, Collison wasn’t completely reassured. "I want to go inside and take a look," he said.
The guard said, "Commander, if you wish to enter the Inheritance Ancestral Land, you need the Beastman King’s permission."
Collison felt a sense of helplessness at those words.
This was the Rule.
Anyone who wishes to enter the Inheritance Ancestral Land must have the permission of the Beastman King.
The guards inside and outside the Inheritance Ancestral Land were also completely separate entities.
The interior had its own dedicated guards.
Those guards didn’t care what rank anyone entering the Inheritance Ancestral Land held.
Without the King’s permission, they would kill any intruder without question.
All of this was to ensure no harm came to the Inheritance Ancestral Land.
The Inheritance Ancestral Land was the most important place in the Beastman Empire.
The fate of the entire Beastman Race depended on it.
Even in the Beastman Race’s most perilous times, the Inheritance Ancestral Land had never faced the slightest threat.
Collison had no choice. He would have to go to the Beast King first and request permission to enter the Inheritance Ancestral Land and sweep for threats.
However, it was already nighttime.
As a rule, the Inheritance Ancestral Land was not open at night.
Therefore, he would have to wait until morning if he wanted to get in.
Collison departed, filled with regret.
He had only taken a few steps when a startling wave of energy suddenly erupted from the Inheritance Ancestral Land behind him.
Collison stopped dead in his tracks and whipped his head around.
A look of shock spread across his face. "Magic? A Human Mage?"
The Beastman Race didn’t have Mages who used that kind of Magic.
While the Beastman Race had a form of Magic, it was more akin to Witchcraft.
It was completely different from the Magic of the Human Race.
Without a moment’s hesitation, Collison charged toward the Inheritance Ancestral Land.
The guards at the gate sensed the disturbance inside the Inheritance Ancestral Land and instinctively glanced behind them.
They quickly turned back, and seeing Collison charging at them, the two guards immediately crossed their weapons in front of them to block his path.
"Commander, calm down! Don’t be rash!"
"Get out of my way!"
Collison couldn’t be bothered with rules now.
He knew that if something went wrong in the Inheritance Ancestral Land, his own life would be a meaningless price to pay.
Even if it meant violating the Rule set by the Beastman King, he had to get inside and see what was happening.
With a casual wave of his hand, Collison sent the two guards flying to the side.
He pushed the door open a crack and quickly slipped through.
SLAM!
The great door to the Inheritance Ancestral Land slammed shut on its own, leaving the Beastmen outside staring at each other in dismay, unsure of what to do.
Li Wei lowered his right hand. In the distance, an enemy collapsed, completely devoid of life.
"I was careless. I didn’t expect there to be hidden guards here."
Li Wei lamented.
Saint Xi nodded. "It is surprising. I didn’t sense its presence at all."
Li Wei glanced at the dead guard. It didn’t seem like a living being.
It was more like a puppet created through some Secret Technique.
’If it’s a puppet, it’s certainly possible for it to have evaded my senses.’
’After all, an inactive puppet gives off no sound or sign of life.’
Killing that one puppet guard instantly alerted all the others within the Inheritance Ancestral Land.
Li Wei immediately sensed numerous powerful auras appearing in the Inheritance Ancestral Land, which had just been as desolate and silent as a graveyard.
One after another, guards appeared before Li Wei.
All the guards looked identical, their bodies completely encased in black Armor that obscured their faces.
The only thing one could make out was that the body types of the guards varied greatly.
This suggested that these Black Armor Guards of the Inheritance Ancestral Land were not all Beastmen from the same race.
WHOOSH!
A Black Armor Guard over four meters tall, its arms as thick as iron pillars, swung down at Li Wei’s head with incredibly heavy metal gauntlets.
BAM!
The next second, a black shadow slammed into the Black Armor Guard.
The Black Armor Guard’s massive body was sent flying more than ten meters, smashing through a decorative stone hill.
Saint Xi righted herself and landed lightly on the ground.
She had sent the towering Black Armor Guard flying over ten meters with a single kick.
She had kicked clean through the palm-thick heavy Armor of the four-meter-tall Black Armor Guard.
A deep footprint was now imprinted on its chest, with cracks spreading across its entire body.
The terrifying Power of a Legendary Giant Dragon was on full display.
Li Wei glanced at the horde of enemies before them and said without looking back, "Let’s make this quick. We’re exposed."
Saint Xi nodded.
The two of them went all out.
Li Wei cast his Magic, and waves of frost and fire engulfed swaths of enemies.
Saint Xi became a black blur, weaving rapidly through the crowd.
Everywhere she passed, enemies fell like stalks of wheat, unable to stop her.
These Black Armor Guards were not weak; they were at least on par with Tier Four Professionals.
But before the two of them, they were utterly powerless to resist.
Both Li Wei and Saint Xi’s Power far surpassed that of these Black Armor Guards.
Li Wei saw that the number of enemies, far from decreasing, was actually growing.
He quickly yelled to Saint Xi, "Stop fighting! Find what we came for!"
Hearing this, Saint Xi shot off in a new direction without looking back.
Seeing this, Li Wei cast Magic to clear a path for her.
Fire Rain Meteor!
WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH!
A sky full of Fireballs rained down in front of Saint Xi, clearing the path of enemies.
Faced with Li Wei’s magical assault, the Black Armor Guards couldn’t get near Saint Xi, let alone stop her advance.
BAM!
A black figure over six meters tall appeared before Saint Xi, blocking her path like a mountain.
The figure also wore black Armor, but it was clearly different from the ordinary Black Armor Guards surrounding them.
WHOOSH!
A long, dark shape swept toward Saint Xi from left to right.
Saint Xi leaped up to dodge.
But the long shape was incredibly agile, twisting in mid-air to coil around her body.
Li Wei looked closer.
The six-meter-tall elephant guard had caught Saint Xi with its trunk.
Saint Xi grabbed the ever-tightening trunk with both hands, trying to pry it open.
The elephant guard’s Power was astonishing.
Even in her human form, Saint Xi was outmatched and couldn’t break free from its grasp.
Seeing this, Li Wei immediately began Casting Magic to rescue her.
SWOOSH!
A black shadow dropped swiftly from the sky, attacking Li Wei from behind just as he was about to finish Casting.
BAM!
The Invisible Armor blocked the attack.
However, Li Wei’s Casting was interrupted.
The immense force of the impact from behind made Li Wei stagger, nearly knocking him off his feet.
He turned his head to see a Black Armor Guard with wings for arms.
Li Wei felt its aura and his heart sank.
’A Legendary Level guard.’
He thought of the elephant guard that had trapped Saint Xi.
’That one must be a Legendary Level expert, too.’
