Chapter 488: A Delicacy from 8 Years Ago

Li Wei and Gu Sewei stopped on the mountainside of a peak.

The two of them had originally planned to return directly to Ice and Snow City.

However, halfway through their journey, Saint Xi could no longer bear her hunger, so they had to find a place for her to eat her fill.

But where in the Extreme North Icefield could they possibly find enough prey to satisfy Saint Xi?

If they could just let Saint Xi pounce on the Ice Emperor and start chewing, she could eat to her heart’s content—enough to make her burst.

Unfortunately, that was just wishful thinking.

Relying on her instincts, Saint Xi found a snow-covered mountain rich in metal ores.

Then, she left Li Wei and Gu Sewei on the mountainside.

The dragon burrowed into the mountain and frantically began devouring all kinds of metal ores.

Compared to food like Magic Beasts, special metal ores rich in Magic Energy were actually more beneficial to Giant Dragons.

One couldn’t expect much in terms of taste, however.

GRIND! GRIND! GRIND!

The sound of Saint Xi chewing on raw metal ores echoed continuously from the cave entrance on the mountainside.

It was a deafening noise, like a rock crusher pulverizing boulders.

Li Wei looked at Gu Sewei, who withdrew the index finger she had just used to write out some Magic Texts.

Turning to see Li Wei, she said, "I’ve already informed Her Majesty the Queen via a Magic Scroll."

Li Wei nodded. "That’s good. I was worried we were delaying important matters."

Saint Xi’s dissatisfied voice echoed in his mind in protest.

’Isn’t me eating an important matter? I’m about to starve to death!’

Saint Xi’s complaint reminded Li Wei that he, too, hadn’t eaten a proper meal in a very long time.

During the first part of the eight years they were trapped in the Time Secret Realm, they still had food to eat.

But as time went on and the food ran out, Li Wei and Gu Sewei could only rely on the Dream World to satisfy their cravings.

They could survive on Magic Energy alone, but it was an uncomfortable existence. It always felt like something was missing, a feeling they could never quite get used to.

Fortunately, both Li Wei and Gu Sewei had already achieved an Elemental Body.

Otherwise, the two of them would have starved to death in the Time Secret Realm.

Li Wei thought about having a good meal once they got back.

He thought for a moment. ’Wait, I think I still have something to eat.’

Li Wei rummaged through his Spatial Ring and pulled out the gift the Queen Bee had given him: Honey Bee Eggs.

They could serve as emergency rations or as a material for summoning Honey Bees.

Li Wei took out a Honey Bee Egg the size of a pigeon’s egg and handed it to Gu Sewei.

Gu Sewei stared at the translucent, golden, oval-shaped object in his palm, her expression curious. "What is this?" she asked.

Li Wei smiled. "It’s for eating. Try it."

Gu Sewei pinched the translucent, springy egg between her fingers. She studied it for a long time but still couldn’t figure out what it was.

After giving one egg to Gu Sewei, he took another and popped it into his mouth.

He swallowed the egg in one bite, and as he bit through the incredibly springy shell, a rich, mellow aroma of honey exploded on his palate.

It was a sweetness that felt like it could melt his very heart.

A look of pure bliss spread across Li Wei’s face. Tasting the delicious Royal Jelly again after eight years, he couldn’t help but let out a sigh of contentment.

Seeing Li Wei’s look of pure enjoyment, Gu Sewei glanced at the egg in her hand, her heart filling with anticipation.

She also placed it in her mouth and took a bite, only to find the egg was surprisingly tough. It took all her strength to finally break it open.

The instant it burst, the pure, rich flavor of the Royal Jelly erupted in her mouth, leaving her lost in the sensation, unable to come back to her senses for a long time.

After a long while, having savored the delicious egg, Gu Sewei couldn’t help but ask Li Wei, "What on earth was that? It’s so delicious."

Li Wei said, "A Honey Bee egg."

"A bee egg?" Gu Sewei’s expression shifted strangely upon hearing this.

She fell silent for a moment before asking, with some hesitation, "You mean the kind that hatches into a bee?"

Li Wei nodded. "Yeah, that’s right."

"GACK!"

Gu Sewei suddenly felt the urge to vomit. ’What did I just eat?’

’An insect’s egg?’

Even though it was incredibly delicious, she found the idea hard to stomach.

Li Wei gave her a strange look. "What’s wrong with you?"

Gu Sewei’s face was a little pale. She frowned and said, "It’s nothing. Just, next time you give me something to eat, tell me what it is first."

Only then did Li Wei realize that Gu Sewei was bothered by the fact she had just eaten a Honey Bee’s egg.

He took out a few more eggs to show her. "They might be bee eggs, but they’re probably not what you’re imagining."

Gu Sewei immediately backed away a few steps, holding up her hands in a gesture of refusal.

"Don’t! Don’t show them to me! I’m afraid I’ll actually throw up."

Li Wei was a bit speechless. ’How did I never notice she had such a strong reaction to insect eggs?’

’Oh, well.’ Seeing her disgusted expression, Li Wei couldn’t be bothered to explain further.

Putting the eggs away, Li Wei glanced up at the sky, then found a flat spot to sit down and wait for Saint Xi to finish her meal.

[Fiery Sun Visualization Method (Tier Five Awakening)] 8720/10000

A line of text appeared before his eyes.

It was his current Cultivation progress.

With the lack of Cultivation resources inside the Time Secret Realm, it had taken Li Wei more than seven years just to reach the brink of his Tier Five Extraordinary Trait Awakening.

Based on his rate of progress inside the Time Secret Realm, it would take at least another half a year to complete the awakening and advance, and that was assuming he had no help from Secret Medicines or Magic Potions.

Li Wei wasn’t in a particular hurry, though.

He turned to look at Gu Sewei and asked, "Have you figured out your Path of Legend yet?"

Gu Sewei shook her head. "I’m not sure yet. I’ll have to ask Her Majesty the Queen when I get back."

"I never knew much about the Path of Legend. I’ve only ever heard that to become a Legendary Level expert, one must complete their own unique Path of Legend."

"I don’t know what the Path of Legend specifically entails, but Her Majesty the Queen is sure to know."

Li Wei smiled. "When you get back, the Ice Queen is in for a huge shock."

Gu Sewei smiled at his words and sat down beside him, gazing at the distant, azure sky.

"You’re right. To Her Majesty the Queen, perhaps only a few days have passed. But for us, a full eight years have gone by in the Time Secret Realm."

She turned her head to look at Li Wei’s profile. "Eight years ago, I never would have imagined our relationship would be like this."

Li Wei asked curiously, "So what did you think back then?"

A reminiscent look appeared on Gu Sewei’s face. After thinking for a moment, she said, "My impression of you back then was pretty awful. The first time we met, you kidnapped me. I don’t think anyone would have a good impression of someone who did that."

Hearing this, Li Wei could only manage a sheepish laugh. "Heh heh..."

Gu Sewei continued, "When Her Majesty the Queen told me to go with you to the Extreme Cold Abyss, I was completely against the idea. Back then, I never even considered becoming partners with you."

"I think it was around the time I first saw the ocean in the Dream World that my opinion of you started to change..."
