Chapter 541 - 536: Tower Stands, City Stands; Tower Falls, City Falls (Part 2)
’This Magic Array is this powerful even when it’s damaged,’ the man thought, horrified.
’Just how terrifying would a complete one be?’
’Which top-tier Array Master could have created this?’
’Why would such an incredible Magic Array be in a place like this?’
In the past, Torresta had used this Sealing Magic Array to seal the Fire Dragon Soul for decades.
He had even relied on the power of the Sealing Magic Array to briefly hold off a Cardinal of the Light Divine Sect.
In the end, Torresta’s power was depleted, giving Cardinal Minos the opportunity to shatter the Sealing Magic Array and escape.
Such a powerful Magic Array, even as a mere remnant, could still unleash astonishing power.
"Damn it! This is impossible!"
SWOOSH! SWOOSH! SWOOSH!
The Breaking Forbidden Law Ring once again fired several consecutive blue beams that struck the purple Magic Array.
More and more cracks appeared on the purple Magic Array.
CRACK!
The Breaking Forbidden Law Ring’s uses were exhausted, and the Forbidden Gemstone shattered.
As the sound of the ring’s gemstone shattering reached the man’s ears, a pained look crossed his face.
The purple Magic Array had been hit by the Breaking Forbidden Law Ring’s continuous attacks.
Although it held on and didn’t completely collapse, its suppressive force was greatly weakened.
The five of them could finally move.
One of them suddenly stepped forward, bursting out with astonishing speed.
"Sky-Breaking Slash!"
A ferocious beam of white sword light instantly tore through the air and appeared before "Torresta."
PFFT!
The sword light sliced through "Torresta’s" figure.
"Torresta’s" form wavered violently for a moment, like an illusion.
With a soft POP, it shattered like a soap bubble and dissipated before their eyes.
The Grand Swordmaster who had "killed" Torresta stood there, dumbfounded and in disbelief.
’Did I just kill Torresta, the so-called strongest Mage in Maple City, that easily?’
’No, that didn’t feel like a human body.’
The Grand Swordmaster quickly scanned his surroundings, vigilantly searching for any sign of the enemy.
But he found no trace of any enemy.
There really were no more enemies here.
The only enemy had just been slain by his sword.
"What in the world is going on?"
The Grand Swordmaster looked at his companions in a daze, seeking answers.
The other four were just as baffled. The Mage, who had been preparing to cast, lowered his Magic Staff and frowned in deep thought.
"That figure just now... it was probably his Illusory Body. He’s not here."
"You mean he’s already escaped?" one of them immediately reacted and asked.
The Mage glanced at the Assassin who had spoken and said, "Do you think that’s possible?"
"He would rather die than hand over the Mage Tower. Would he really abandon it and run away?" the Mage challenged.
The Assassin gave an awkward smile and shook his head. "Then I have no idea."
The Grand Swordmaster pressed, "So what is going on?"
The Mage’s eyes narrowed slightly. "Aren’t there still a few people left in the Mage Tower? Let’s go ask them."
"There’s no need. I can tell you what you want to know."
A voice reached everyone’s ears.
Everyone revealed a look of astonishment.
The Grand Swordmaster whipped his head toward the source of the voice and demanded loudly, "Who’s there? Stop hiding and show yourself!"
A figure walked into the Seventh Floor.
Seeing the newcomer, all five of them frowned.
The person was wearing a Magic Cloak that shrouded their entire body, making their face impossible to see.
The Mage tried to use his Spiritual Perception to identify the person.
But as his Spiritual Perception neared the figure, it was like falling into a bottomless Abyss; he couldn’t gauge the person’s true nature at all.
The Mage was horrified. He realized the newcomer was a Mage far, far stronger than himself.
The Mage’s expression turned grim. He stared at the figure and asked, "Who might you be, Your Excellency?"
Hearing him use such a respectful term, the other four showed surprise and glanced at him instinctively.
VMMMM!
Without the cloaked figure making any visible movement, the entire dark Seventh Floor lit up.
The Seventh Floor, which had always been shrouded in darkness, was finally revealed in its entirety before their eyes.
Eighteen stone pillars supported a hexagonal spire; this was the layout of the Seventh Floor.
Now, more than half of the eighteen pillars were broken, and most of the Magic Patterns covering them were destroyed.
The cap of the spire was tilted slightly.
Looking up, they could see that the underside of the cap was also covered in a Magic Array Pattern.
Just like the eighteen pillars of the Seventh Floor, the Magic Array Pattern on the cap was also damaged, with only a few small areas still glowing.
That section was the purple Magic Array they had seen earlier.
It was unbelievable. A Magic Array that was less than ten percent intact could still exert such powerful suppressive force.
VMMMM!
WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH!
The rubble on the ground and the shattered fragments of the spire’s cap all flew into the air.
It was as if time were reversing.
Broken stones flew back to their original positions, the tilted cap of the spire righted itself, and the fallen pillars rose once more.
The group watched what was happening around them with utter amazement.
All except the Mage in their group, who looked as if he had seen a ghost.
He could feel it: a vast and intricate tide of Mana filled the air.
’It’s unimaginable. How can this person in front of me control such immense Mana with such precision?’
"Fossil into Mud!"
"Mud into Stone!"
Li Wei cast two spells in succession, restoring the damaged Seventh Floor to its original state.
It was only a superficial restoration; Li Wei couldn’t repair the damaged Magic Arrays in an instant.
The Fossil into Mud and Mud into Stone spells were new spells Li Wei’s Illusory Body had practiced out of boredom while watching over the Mage Tower.
In addition to these, the Illusory Body had basically learned every spell available in the Mage Tower.
After all, as the Tower Master, he didn’t need to pay any Contribution to learn Magic.
After Li Wei returned, he used the Arcane Magic Codex to directly inherit all the spell proficiency his Illusory Body had gained.
Now, the number of spells recorded in the Arcane Magic Codex had broken into the triple digits.
Li Wei still hadn’t felt its limit.
"Who in the world are you?"
The Mage stared at Li Wei, his expression incredibly grave.
’Such terrifying Mana Control.’
He didn’t believe this was something an ordinary Grand Mage could do.
Even the few Tier Six Great Mages he knew were incapable of such a feat.
To a Mage, the skill Li Wei had just displayed was nothing short of a miracle.
Li Wei glanced at the group and walked right through their midst, completely unguarded.
He walked to the center of the Seventh Floor.
A throne slowly rose, and he turned and sat down.
As Li Wei passed by, the Assassin had the thought to strike.
But the instant the idea formed, a great sense of dread suddenly gripped the Assassin’s heart.
It was the feeling of impending doom.
After the Assassin abandoned the idea of assassinating him, the feeling of terror vanished without a trace.
It was as if it had been an illusion.
His back was soaked with cold sweat. He knew it was definitely not an illusion.
That was a warning from his Extraordinary Trait, Danger Perception.
It was the first time the Assassin had ever felt such a terrifying warning.
It was more frightening than any life-or-death crisis he had ever faced.
He knew that if he had attacked, he would have died without a doubt.
The Grand Swordmaster gripped his great sword, watching as Li Wei walked past him.
The hairs on his arms stood on end, and his muscles tensed.
His instincts were screaming at him that this person was extremely, extremely dangerous.
Li Wei sat down, and the group turned to face him.
"I am... Torresta."
"Torresta!"
The group stared at Li Wei in astonishment.
Their faces were filled with disbelief.
The Grand Swordmaster frowned. ’Is this the real Torresta?’
’The pressure he gives off is so intense!’
After his initial shock, the Mage felt that something was not quite right.
He still looked at Li Wei with suspicion.
"We apologize for our impetuous visit so late at night. Please forgive our offense."
The Mage bowed and said with his head lowered.
He had admitted defeat.
Seeing this, the others also bowed their heads and admitted their fault.
Li Wei said coolly, "Go back and tell the people behind you, whatever it is you’re planning, don’t get any ideas about this Mage Tower."
"If the Mage Tower is gone, then I won’t care where a Forbidden Curse happens to fall."
The Mage’s heart trembled when he heard this.
He knew it was a threat.
If something happened to the Mage Tower, a Forbidden Curse would fall upon Maple City.
He didn’t dare risk testing that threat.
The man before them might really have the power to do it.
The Mage gave a deep bow and said, "I understand. I will be sure to relay your message exactly as you’ve said it."
"Then, we shall no longer disturb the Tower Master’s rest."
The group withdrew from the Mage Tower, their hearts pounding with fear.
"A Forbidden Curse? Can he really cast one?" the Assassin asked, somewhat incredulous.
The Mage replied, "I don’t know, but... he is without a doubt the most powerful Mage I have ever seen. His strength is far beyond my imagination. Even I cannot begin to estimate just how strong he is..."
