Hakai no Miko

Episode 34: Chase

"Were you leaving such an important thing behind?!"

As soon as he had finished hearing from the village chief, Kafner barked. The village chief shrinks his shoulders with a small scream.

"And there's no such thing as We have duly reported to our lord!

Even though Rudolphus strangles him with wings, when Kafner asks, "Is it true?!", the village chief replies, shaking his neck gaggedly and vertically many times.

"But your lord has told me not to talk about this..."

When he heard it, Kafner shook Rudolphus' arm off and jumped out into the outside with a rough footsteps.

"Hey, Kafner. Where are you going?!"

Kafner answers the question of Rudolphus, who hastily follows him, absurdly.

"It's decided! It's the lord's place here!

It will still take some time for the soldiers I have left to arrive. I'm sorry if I had to say even one of my complaints in the meantime.

After all, if the lords who received the reward from the villagers were to destroy the dwarves and reward the king's capital, they would not have to run (really) all over the country. Thinking of it, I couldn't leave the lord who overlooked this.

"Okay. - But I'm following you, too."

I know how Kafner feels, painfully. But I can't help but wake up here with my lord. In times of need, Rudolphus also decided to accompany him in an attempt to enter into arbitration.

The two men who ran the horses quickly arrived at the Lords' Hall.

But even when it comes to the hall, it belongs to the lord of such a periphery. It's a miserable hall with a small fort as its residence. From the point of view of Kafner, who lives in the Wang capital, the somewhat wealthier civilian houses are enough to look more splendid.

When Kafner slammed the door roughly, an old servant turned up. When Kafner and the others tell him who they are and then seek to take over from the lord, the old servant rushes into the back of the hall. Then, some time later, it was the woman named Lady Lordship who appeared before Rudolphus and Kafner.

"What can I do for you?

To Rudolphus and Kafner, who came suddenly, the Lady of Lords greeted her with perseverance (chitchat), even though she shuddered her fingertips slightly.

But even being a lady, not a lord, is an obstacle to Kafner's current concern.

"I can't talk to a woman! I want your lord out!

The Lady Lordship snorted at Kafner's sword screen, but said, "My husband is absent. If you need anything, I'll take it," he said.

Kafner also causes irritation.

Is the lord here going to let his wife make an explanation and hide herself, or does he think that a knight in the National Army would not be able to leave strong on a woman? Anyway, Kafner thought the lord was licking him. Then the other person will not forgive the woman.

"Then I ask you! Why did you leave Zoan and Dwarves intruding on our territory! Let me explain!

The reply of the Lady, however, was unexpected, to Kafner's question, which was placed in the upper part of the building and slashed directly from the front.

"What the hell is this about? I've never heard anything like it."

Besides, Kafner is cute. I honestly didn't see it reopen like this, regardless if I admit I wasn't and apologize.

"The villagers say they rewarded us. You still say you don't know?!"

"... I can only say that I don't know what I don't know"

"I'm still not a talker with a woman! Let us have the lord out!

"As I said earlier, my husband is absent...!

To Kafner's sword screen, the Lady Lordship desperately pleads while still bluing her face as if she were going to graduate. Rudolphus, who had been watching until then, notices something ha-ha.

Pulling Kafner's shoulder back forcefully, which was about to be yelled at further, Rudolphus, who broke in between the two, gave a bow of grace toward Lady Lordship.

"Ma'am, a colleague took the liberty of being disrespectful. There's probably been some kind of difference."

To this sudden apology, Rudolphus silences Kafner with his gaze as he tries to complain. Says the Lady Lordship, even as she turned a skeptical eye to Rudolphus, who changed her attitude to return her palm.

"It's what the foolish people said. Didn't I make some mistake?

Rudolphus nods exaggerated and agrees with this excuse.

"Probably, I guess. - No, I'm sorry for being so rude. Oh, don't worry. I do not intend to say anything of this magnitude to Your Majesty"

Besides, to see it, the Lady Lordship gives a horrible look.

"It would be helpful if you could say that"

"No. I just took it for granted. Isn't it?

To Rudolphus' answer, the Lady Lordship bows her head deeply over and over again with tears in her eyes.

Besides, Rudolphus was forced to pull Kafner out of the Lords' Hall looking like he didn't understand the situation.

Kafner, who returned to the horse who had his reins tied to a tree near the hall, just bit Rudolphus.

"Hey, Rudolphus. What the hell is this?!"

No matter how you look at it, that Lady Lordship is an attitude that she knew Zoan or Dwarf had come within her territory. It's unforgivable to ignore that, even if it's a colleague.

Depending on your response, Rudolphus, questioned by Kafner on his face that you are not free, blankly discards him.

"Consider your wife's position, too."

"Oh? What do you mean?," said Kafner, returning it in a somewhat insurmountable voice.

"Don't you see? The lord is truly absent."

"For this matter, where does the lord say he wants to play?!"

Tell Rudolphus to stop being an exasperating kafner.

"You forgot? Now the Horsemen are leading soldiers to the king's capital according to His Majesty's decree."

Rudolphus further said to Kafner, who was told and finally remembered.

"Perhaps the lords here are also taking all the young men who can fight in the territory to join the army of rebel slave crusades. What are we supposed to do with over 3,000 dwarves just for the rest of us? If we get our hands on it badly, the territory itself will be screwed up instead of that village!

If you ask me, I didn't see any young men in that village.

"Yes, but. Still enough to reward the King's capital?

Still unconvincing, Kafner said, but Rudolphus dismisses it cold.

"What can I reward you for?

And Kafner said, "What?" and returned the missing voice in between. Rudolphus tells him to bite off with a sinister face.

"There are suspicious people in the territory entrusted to us, but we can't help ourselves, so you're asking me to help you?

So Kafner also realizes that there is.

"See, Kafner? With that said, it's like saying publicly that a given territory cannot be ruled satisfactorily either. All you have to do is hurt your lord's honor. But if you do poorly, they will question your ability to govern and confiscate your territory!

"But! It's an emergency. Explain that...!

Rudolphus lurks his voice here.

"Do you think that would lead to that sire?

Kafner was stuck in words. If you get excited and have a seizure, you are King Walius, who behaves like an emotion. I can't imagine King Walius would give me such an exaggeration. I should have rewarded the king's capital for this, but it would not have been enough for him to hold the territory.

In Ladies and servants who have been entrusted with absenteeism in the Territory, the load wins too much to make a decision.

"Well then......!

"That's right! I haven't seen Zoan or Dwarf. I haven't heard of those guys passing through the territory. I don't know. I just have to push through! Perhaps the same goes for the lords ahead."

Rudolphus, now an officer of the National Army, was also formerly a three-boy borderline lord. I have a history of the two brothers being alive and entering the National Army because I didn't think the housekeeper would come around to me. For this reason, we also fully understood the painful position of the border lords.

Rudolphus kicks the stone that was rolling on the ground when he leaks a big tongue punch.

"Shit! If it's a precaution based on anticipation, the child of destruction and his sexual roots are rotten!

Unusual for a warm Rudolphus, he barfed and threw up his tone.

Then, when you take the map out of the back sac that was attached to your horse, you push it into the saddle and spread it out.

"Not all lords block their eyes and ears. If they can, they'll choose the most invisible path they can get."

That being said, Rudolphus gave it in front of the mountains north of L'Oma, the westernmost city of the Holmeer Country.

"They have an intersection that connects the villages along the northern mountains. No doubt they're here!

"... but in time?

Quite a few days have already passed since Dwarves and others escaped. Kafner was worried that he would no longer have been able to escape through Holmea's borders into Bornis' sphere of power.

"The more unseen the path, the more dangerous it is. On such a path, the walk of a woman and child is inferior to a turtle. Then we can make it. - No, I'll show you in time!

To put it that way, Rudolphus took the map and jumped on the horse.

"Let's go, Kafner! We'll catch up with the slaves!

◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆

As Rudolphus speculated, the Dwarves of Marben Copper Mountain were still inside Holmea.

Standing on a small, high hill a short distance from the intersection, Garam says, looking down at the Dwarves heading west in a row.

"... it's too late"

Yes, there is no need to blur the gallum.

Even though the road is in poor condition, the Dwarf women and children are also responsible for quite a bit of baggage, albeit the minimum they need. This meant that it would be good to take a moment (roughly two hours) to go one quill (roughly three kilometers).

Moreover, the road is narrow, with the two walking shoulder-to-shoulder at best. If you go in rows on such a path, even if you simply calculate that the front and rear spacing is one melt (roughly one meter), the length from the beginning to the rear of the row will be half a quill. For that reason, less than a half an hour after the head left the camp, something like a funny joke had happened that the tail would finally move out.

Schull rushes to excuse himself after hearing the blur of Gallam.

"I'm sorry, Raging Fangs. - I'm letting the warriors help, but the Dwarf women and children have slower legs than expected..."

And when he realizes that Gallam's own blush was silent, he shakes his head in a way that doesn't bother him.

"Dwarves are not like us Zoan. I don't have a choice."

Speaking to himself rather than to Shru, Garam commands Shru to be careful not to force her to fall. Besides, Schull replied cheerfully, "Okay," he ran with four legs to tell the Zoan warriors watching the Dwarf line about Gallam's life.

Then comes Zug, who had left the rear to be different from that.

"Hey, Gallum. Isn't it a little uneasy?

Zug didn't say what, but still figured out enough to say.

"I don't have a choice. It's all the more so if you hurry up and get hurt."

Sounds like Zoog just came here to spill his stupidity after he fully understood the current situation as well. I didn't pinch any objections to Garam's assertions and scratched Gashigashi and his own head.

"Damn. It would be easier if it were just Zoan."

Gallum also felt strongly sympathetic to this.

Running the plains without paths is what Zoan specializes in. Zoan's foot would have made it back to Bornis in three days. Also, if Zoan has an excellent sense of direction, just tell him where to gather there, and he will gather on his own on a family or family basis. This is how I choose my path for everyone and I don't have the hassle of preparing food for them.

Besides, Zoan is a race that specializes in fighting with his legs. Regardless of the raid on Marben Copper Mountain, I don't like the role of guarding these non-combatants.

I would be more qualified than myself, who is Zoan.

Gallam also told the pale horse that directly. But I have a history of Gallum having had no choice but to undertake it with the strong hope of the Ethereal Horse that he would do it even if he pushed it.

This would have been easier and better when he was leading only Zoan, and when Gallum accidentally leaked his sigh, Zoog looked vegan.

"What. Have you noticed?

"What do you mean, Zoog?

Zoug laughed and showed Niyaniya to Garam, who asked back with a crease between his eyebrows and nose.

"Hey. I suppose you want the Great Sheikh to have a hard time. - That's what I mean."

I don't know what it means more and more. Zoog laughed with a guerraggera at the gallum that deepened the crease between his eyebrows.

Garam was looking for words to defeat this red-haired giant, but next to him Harpuran's daughter dances down from the sky.

"Lord Gallam. The Holmeer soldiers are on their way."

She was a small voice to whisper so that the Dwarf woman and child wouldn't ask and make a scene, but that only makes Garam and Zoog look serious.

"Roughly two thousand less. This unit focuses on cavalry and light infantry. As it is, I was wondering if we could probably catch up after noon."

Gallum and Zoog looked up into the sky. The sun is slightly east of Jomtien. Being caught up would be as early as a minute later.

"Hey, it's Raging Fangs. What are we gonna do, dump the copper?

Asked by Zoog, Gallum thinks.

It is a distance that can be reached in less than a day, to the river that flows between the Holmeer country and Bornis. If this had only been two or three days early, I would have made an immediate decision to dump the copper. Even the Ethereal Horse tells us that copper is only Yuro and that the purpose is for Zoan himself to return safely to Bornis with the Dwarves of Marben Copper Mountain.

But since I started living with humans, Gallum also understood that this copper was very valuable. It would be a waste to throw away such a precious thing easily. Plus we wanted to drive Zoan off the Sorbiant plains ourselves and bark at the Holmeer country we were about to expel.

"... All right. Let's go with Soma's measures."

In case Holmeer's soldiers caught up with him, he had been taught one measure by the Ethereal Horse. To Gallum's decision to do it, Zoog fists himself in the palm of his hand.

"You don't have to! - All right. The Great Sheikh will ask for a formation."

Gallum laughs bitterly at Zoog for his delicious role without any hesitation. But when it comes to fighting things, no man can rely more. When Gallum admitted, "Do as you please," Zoog headed for preparation with a light foothold.

It was a gallam that looked at its dependable back, but for once I decided to keep it in mind.

"Hey, Zoog! Don't forget to borrow pots and cauldrons from Dwarves."
