Hakai no Miko

Episode 84: One Hand Off the Board

A hand from outside the board.

Solon's leftover words caught Adomius sooner or later.

I don't know what the hell that is, but the enemy is setting something up.

Adomius remembered such a certain hunch.

When Adomius thought in the position of an enemy trying to overthrow this city, several hands came to mind, including sieges and negotiations. Additionally, Adomius, who considered what would be the most effective offense against the current city of L'Oma in it, becomes a sinister face.

That's an inside call.

What is at stake is the barbarity of Prince Alexius when he fled into this city.

That definitely caused a huge crack between the soldiers here and the Holmeer royal family.

Somehow they were forced to shoot their people with their own hands. Now it's more impossible to tell Alexius not to be disappointed.

Thanks to this, the morale of the soldiers is the worst.

Everyone would have thought of themselves tomorrow by their fellow shooters. There's no way those soldiers would want to fight under Alexius, who doesn't know when to cut themselves off. And it wasn't surprising that some of them had a grudge against Alexius.

If you are an enemy commander, you cannot possibly not poke there.

It will spread rumours denigrating (deceiving) Alexius and the Holmeer royal family, who let the falsehood cross, and will attempt to further widen its cracks.

But they must write a letter of such contents, and they must send insiders into it.

But Adomius had already hit his hand to keep him from doing so.

First is a letter brought in by a surrendered soldier brought in by an old man named Solon.

If you refuse even a letter informing your family of your safety, it will not be stopped because the grievances of the residents will erupt instead. However, he has asked the soldier to strictly check the contents of the letter before giving it to his family.

The surrendered soldiers carrying the letters were also kept in isolation from residents and closely monitored to avoid creating insiders in the city.

To the extent Adomius has heard so far, he says that the letters of the captive soldiers are just written about their own safety and their indecisive routine as captives. And take into account the position of the soldiers who surrender, who also carry letters, or avoid the topic of Alexius and hear that this is just ending up in another chat that has no deflection of captive life.

If that's all, then nothing should go wrong.

Nothing should go wrong.

So Adomius finds out.

"I don't have too many problems......!

The rebel slaves should want to drop this city of L'Oma. Otherwise, there's no way we're putting a line in front of the city in vain, and what are we supposed to be doing with the retreat? And if you're going to drop the city, that would be better as soon as possible.

Yet nothing else is being set up just sending an old man like that solon to his lord's chess opponent.

If you think calmly, anything is too weird.

Adomius whispered that there was something about this.

I don't know what the hell that is, but if something is going on, the most likely thing is an old man named Solon walking by every day and a city gate where the surrendered soldiers are kept.

Though it is an emergency, I have so far confined myself to listening to reports because of the consideration that it is not good for us to have a big face in the city, whether it is just the national army or the defeated soldiers themselves, but I can no longer say so.

Adomius hurried to the city gate.

It was Adomius heading early, but as the city gate approached, I noticed a strange smell. That's a strange scent I've never smelled before, but it smells strange and appetizing.

However, this city of L'Oma is severely restricted in food in preparation for a long cage battle. There is no way that the meal being distributed to the soldiers in such a situation can make this smell good.

"You guys! What are you doing?!"

Adomius raised his voice when he found the defensemen gathering beside the city gate, which was now sealed with piles of earthen sacs.

Then the defensemen, who noticed Adomius, blatantly said, "Shit! face."

Besides, Adomius came near roughing up his footsteps when he thought this was something.

"What the hell is this?!"

At the heart of the defensive soldiers that were gathering was a large pot set on fire. In that pan, something like loose porridge raises the futz and the hot air.

On the other hand, I understood that the original smell of deliciousness was this, and Adomius said at the same time, "What is this? I think."

The porridge that Adomius is familiar with is that wheat that is coarsely ground or powdered is simmered in goat's milk or the like. Therefore, the porridge was white or slightly yellow at best.

But the porridge that was now simmering in the pan was brown as if it were muddy water.

Such things are not included in the food distributed to the best of Adomius's knowledge.

"No way, you guys! Have you been tickling food from somewhere?!"

It is a felony amounting to treason to grain at will in the Battle of Cage Castle. If found, it was naturally a death sentence.

Defenders change blood phase and excuse themselves.

"Chi, no! This was brought to me by a fellow prisoner..."

I desperately excuse myself. I even say things I don't have to say. A colleague next door rushes to shut his mouth, but it's too late.

"What does that mean?!"

Fearing Adomius yelling in his ghostly shape, the defensemen began not to cover up and talk. After hearing it, Adomius first flaunts, then reprimands him violently.

"What are you guys thinking! When I heard that the surrendered soldiers were eating rare and delicious food, I was flattered and had them split up. Take it?!"

The defensemen said they were bringing in the rare food that the surrendered soldiers carrying the letters were feeding at the rebel slaves, "I want them to give them to my family".

Sometimes it's not hardware or anything, but food that the rebel slaves normally eat, and the defensemen said they were delivering it to their families without making much of a scene.

Then those families say it's as good and good as all their mouths are. All that or where I worried that my family was being held captive by the rebel slaves, was enough to ask me to get more of this.

The defensemen also learned to be interested in those things, and asked if they could split themselves up to try them, and this is how they started to split them.

Adomius was half-witted at the same time as he was angry.

Whatever the hardware is, I didn't expect it to get soft when it comes to food. What are you going to do if even meat from poisoned or plagued animals is put in it?

Adomius gets a headache about what's going on with the education of the city's defensemen.

But one of the defensive soldiers offered a porridge to Adomius like that.

"Well, take a bite of the Commander of the Regiment."

It was Adomius, worried about poison and other things to refuse, but the defensemen ran out saying that they were eating too and that was not true.

Then Adomius put the porridge in his mouth, also interested in what the enemy was eating.

"... good!

It looks bad but the taste was excellent.

Think of the soldiers who move their bodies and sweat, or the overall saltiness is stronger. But from behind it comes a strange taste that Adomius has never tasted before.

Not meat, not fish, not vegetables. What the hell is this...?

It was also not impossible for Adomius to be perplexed. That's the taste of soybean mitu, which is still not very well known in Holmea. It is naturally not experienced by Adomius, such as the flavour produced by the breakdown of soybean protein.

Furthermore, if all the porridge contains vegetables and fish, or even meat, I am sure to say that it is much more lavish than the average meal eaten by the civilian population of the Holmeer country.

But that wasn't the end of it.

"Commander of the Regiment. This is what I got too, so go ahead."

Has it reopened yet? Or are you trying to draw me into your company as far as Adomius, and one of the guards with a nagging grin has offered me something.

"Is this food?

There's no point in Adomius saying that either. Handed over was a small block shaped like a miniature-sized sun-dried brick. Touch it, it's not hard. I can even feel the slightest elasticity.

In Adomius' knowledge, it feels like he has made the boiled dust harder with the sheep's soup cooled. But in any case, the color wasn't appetizing, and it didn't look like a great food.

"It's really good, so try to eat it thinking it's a lie"

That's what they said. Adomius was half-hearted and threw it into his mouth.

At the next moment, an intense flavor strikes Adomius's tongue.

…… Oh, sweet?! "

It was such an intense shock that I accidentally screamed so. And Adomius knew the shock.

This is what I felt when I ate a rare treat that was taken from a foreign country behaved during a feast held by General Darius.

Adomius groans in dismay.

"Is this...?!"
