Hakai no Miko

Episode 86: Escape

Totally, they did it!

Adomius walking absurdly in his footsteps threw up so much in his chest with bitter regret.

Everything was just as the Son of Destruction thought it would be if we checked the letters from the soldiers who surrendered to the enemy, wary of their insides.

If you hear a letter from a soldier who surrendered to an enemy, everyone is alert. They'll check the contents before they give it to the family. Decided to be thoroughly loaded with no wording aimed at morale loss or internal disturbance, or no ciphers hidden to insiders.

So the Son of Destruction set his aim on the soldiers who read those letters.

Moreover, the way it is done is cunning.

It is not a word of condescension such as condemnation of Prince Alexius or prisoner-friendliness. Those words will not be dealt with by the soldiers who have been on guard since "you've still written".

But there is no such wording, and all that is written is about food. Because of this, it is said that it is a good (cool) means to encourage internal reaction and disobedience, but nothing is written about it. Conversely, the soldiers, who suspected that some sort of cryptography or coding was hidden there, would have desperately looked at the contents of the letter.

Without even realizing it was a trap in itself.

Even the city of L'Oma is cutting food in preparation for a long battle of caged castles. There, the side that was made to peruse the finely written story of good food is no longer a hoarding one.

What the hell does this taste like? Are you sure it tastes good?

Everyone should have thought so.

In doing so, seeing the surrendered soldiers bring in their food as a souvenir to their families attracts interest. You'll want to try it.

And would anyone have defied that temptation when they heard you could split it it up?

If this had been gold, some would have taken a resolute stance that bribes could not be accepted.

But things are food. Besides, if you hear it's given to the prisoners too, you don't think it's worth so much.

But the real price wasn't where the hardware was.

"Wish Your Highness Alexius all the best!

Adomius visited in a room blessed by Alexius.

Naturally, the soldiers around Alexius tried to chase Adomius back that he could not take over. Adomius then attaches his hand to the pattern of his lower back sword.

"Whether you want me to slaughter and kill you here, or put you through to His Highness Alexius, choose who you like!

Adomius meant it.

If we sit and wait like this, we are certain that we will lose. Before that happens, we have to get Alexius out of here at all costs. I was seriously prepared to put my neck on it, not even though.

Adomius is just one of the regiment leaders who was leading the elite "Black Wall". The temper was not something that could be resisted when surrounded by princes.

Passing between the surroundings who butt their faces blue, Adomius opens the door to the room that Alexius applauded.

Once, the smell of liquor that was stuck in the room poked my nose.

In the middle of a dim room where a number of liquor bottles roll, Adomius shouts out loud when he finds Alexius sitting in a chair without force, as if he were a corpse.

"His Highness Alexius! Not if you're in love like that!

"... what? You're finally here for reinforcements?

Adomius explains how he's been so far, with less frustration, to Alexius, who looks up at this one with his cloudy eyes of alcohol while sitting in a chair.

"It's not reinforcements! - First, eat this."

I offered Alexius a slice of lamb that I had taken from a tear-eyed soldier. When Alexius receives it as he pleases, he takes it small and chews it slowly.

"That's a lot sweeter"

To Alexius, who grumbled to spill, Adomius says.

"Your Highness. Don't you see?

Honey, fruit, and so on are used as sweeteners in the western waters of this era. But this sweetness is until it is more direct and violent than those.

"This is probably sugar."

Alexius, intoxicated by alcohol, receives the words of Adomius as they are.

"Using sugar for soldier acquisitions, etc., is a waste"

Although sugar was also made in this world by boiling sugar cane-like plant juice, its production area was limited and in the western region it relied almost everything on imports from abroad. For this reason, sugar is so valuable that it is sometimes traded with the same amount of gold and silver that only some royal nobles and large merchants have been able to speak. It was expensive enough for a takeover.

But Adomius shakes his neck to the side.

"Can't you see yet?

To Alexius, confused not knowing what he was about to say, Adomius slowly chewed and told him to include it.

"If it's a takeover, you can use gold and silver directly. With that in mind, the enemy is giving the soldiers so much sugar sweets that His Royal Highness, the royal family, is a waste. Think about what this means."

Alexius twisted his head not turning well with alcohol.

It would also mean compensation, but when it comes to behaving expensive sugar to the average soldier, it would take a considerable amount. But when it comes to securing that much quantity, it is no longer just a matter of funding. Without the key sugar itself, it makes no sense no matter how much money there is.

In other words, there has to be just a handout (once) that constantly gets a certain amount - that is, a deep business relationship with the marine state of Jebor.

"They can't be with Jebor..."

"That's right. Without a deep connection to Jebor, you can't possibly get that much sugar no matter how much money you have!

It is a stunning fact that the opponent, who was looking down on him as a slave who waged the rebellion, had a fat connection to the Jebor merchant guild that holds the economy of the West End.

"That's not all. Has Your Highness ever tasted such a strange treat?

"No. No..."

It was the first time Alexius received various gifts as the first heir to the throne of the Holmeer country, such as this strangely elastic sweet treat.

Adomius makes one nod, as he says it will.

"I, too, have never spoken or heard of such sweets before. If even Your Highness is like me, perhaps this confection..."

Finally Alexius realized what Adomius was trying to say.

"I mean, you call this exotic, not western...?

To Alexius's inquiry, Adomius nodded forcefully to show.

"Your Highness. We were insulting our enemies too much. military power that defeated us. Huge amount of money you can buy sugar. Deep connection with the merchants of Jebor. And the shadow of the exotic that you see"

So Adomius put aside a beat before affirming.

"We shouldn't have looked down on them as rebel slaves or anything!

Alexius is wary.

Luxury confectionery like sugar in the Holmeer Country is an elegant way to gather the herbs and their ladies together with vanilla tea and wine. What room would there be for such an elegant tea party on this battlefield?

In fact, Ethereal Horse is not holding such an elegant tea party on the battlefield either.

But in Alexius, who did not know that, the sight of a tea party where people of all races were enjoying sweets made of sugar with laughter had emerged as a reality.

The subhumans, who enjoyed such a fantasy tea party, turn to Alexius most of all. And I said this to a different accent.

I was wondering if you were trying to make an enemy of us.

"Hii no...!

Alexius was afraid of the phantom voice he made himself.

And the pieces of eating lamb that I have in my hand seem like a tremendous piece of dangerous material, and I rush to throw it away.

To Alexius, who finally understood the situation, Adomius says softly.

"Your Highness. Rumors of this sweet in Su will be spreading throughout the city"

This is a time when there are no zip codes, addresses, etc. The letters sent to the family are once delivered to the faces of the district and to those called celebrities, from which they are given to individual houses. And because many of those letters can't read the letters either, it's usually normal to have facial actors, celebrities, etc. read them on their behalf.

In other words, those who control the area are likely already aware of the existence of this confection.

After thinking that far, Adomius denies his thoughts.

I guess it's already known, not likely. Otherwise, there's no way that old man named Solon could have bothered to leave a meaningful word for "hands off the board" or anything else.

It is not necessarily the case that some of those who realize the strength of such enemies do not stop at the Earl of Mutos wondering if it would be better to surrender.

If you think the king you are serving has no power, it is not uncommon times to saddle another country. If Count Mutos, still known as the Skeleton, would never descend on savage rebel slaves and such.

But Mutos' heart has always been shaken by an old man named Solon. If you come there and hear rumors about this sugar-cooked confection and understand that the enemy is someone you shouldn't insult as a rebel slave or something like that, you don't know how to fall with Count Mutos.

And not far away, the city of L'Oma will collapse from the inside.

"We have to stop bringing in this sweet..."

To Alexius, who blues his face and whines, Adomius asks him to shake his neck beside him.

"The enemy asked me to give it to my fellow prisoners to my family, to take away the meagre food?

If this is hardware, it will be covered with bribes and reasons. But things are just a little less than a bite of sweet. From those who don't even know the value of sugar, it wouldn't be convincing to be called a bribe. Instead, he suspected that he was trying to monopolize food and could have provoked a backlash. But if we're going to explain why properly so that there's no misunderstanding, it's more like hustling down the mightiness of our enemies ourselves.

"I can't move the city's defensemen to take control of it."

Adomius and his men. Whereas the national army is the king's direct soldier, the city's defensemen are the private soldiers of Count Mutos. That's why Adomius doesn't have the authority to do anything about the defensemen.

"Duh, what should I do?!"

To Alexius, who shouts a screaming voice, Adomius affirms.

"Your Highness is no longer the only one who can break this situation!

The biggest problem with the status quo is that there is no unification of military rights.

In Admius, who was formerly the three boys of the local lord, no matter how much the elite "Black Wall" regiment leader of the National Army, there is no way he can tell the Count of Mutos to turn in his military rights. Conversely, if Adomius takes the liberty of beneath the Count of Mutos, he will now be suspected of his translations into the King.

As a result, the city was now separated from the former crusaders commanded by Adomius and the city's defensemen and troops. Until now, Adomius has not noticed the spread of confectionery rumors in the city, which is also the cause.

Alexius, a prince who would have held a general position in the national army and had the right to inherit the first throne, should have unified his command. However, Alexius has always been perfectly impressed with the room that he was honored with because he lost so much at the crossing.

"Let this city be dropped without a fight as it is! Before that happens, His Royal Highness must be shown his face in front of everyone, in command, and the soldiers must be tightened!

Alexius has been silent on this Adomius appeal for a while.

When Adomius finally started rushing, Alexius says.

"Okay. I'll do what you say. - But alcohol is turning around today as this is. I can't get out in front of everyone with this. Wait till tomorrow."

That's a good point.

Looking at his impatience, Adomius bowed his head and agreed.

"Your Highness escaped...?

The next morning, Adomius, who had waited now or now for Alexius to come out, was flabbergasted by reports from his men.

Earlier this morning, Alexius left on a horse from the East Gate with only some of his surroundings. Baron Cantobias, who heard that, "calls me back," chased me in a tank, but said he hasn't come back yet.

It took enough time to slowly count ten for Adomius, whose brain had reacted to rejection too much, to accept the situation.

"Don't be ridiculous!

Adomius shouted outrageously.

Alexius is the prince of the kingdom of Holmea. You can't let them die in battle. Not to mention falling into the hands of rebel slaves and captivating them.

For this reason, Adomius, if he had to, was a stoning, an abdominal accumulation that would let Alexius escape.

But...

"It's not the same as being thrown out of stone!

If you're going to run anyway, why don't you say "please come back later" in front of all of us with dignity! It's like a night escape for a king, stealing the eyes of his men and his people and fleeing!

Adomius sputtered as much cursing noise as he could think of.

So Adomius, with a little bit of a cold head, thinks about what to do now.

If it spread that the prince deserted the city and fled with only a few offerings, it was no longer something that had soldiers' morale or anything else. I put this fact in my chest, and I also thought to myself that I would recommend to the soldiers that Alexius escape.

But Adomius laughs with his nose at the thought of himself.

Anyway, no matter how we fix it now, it's decided that the truth will soon be conveyed.

Besides, above all, I had no longer been willing to devote myself to the Holmeer country.

"I can do it!

Adomius slammed a helmet at his feet with a green room showing the regiment leader.

"If Your Highness will do as He pleases, I will do as He pleases! I can't do this anymore! Tell the soldiers to do whatever they want!

"Adomius Regiment Commander?!"

In front of the surprised and hasty soldiers, Adomius sits somewhere on the spot.

"As much as I fight for a guy like that, I'd rather have this neck dropped refreshingly by the son of a destroyer! You'll see your dead comrades!

◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆

Alexius, who was running his horse to the king's capital, Holmenia, along with a few surroundings, noticed a voice calling himself in the roar of his horseshoes.

If I loosened my horse's legs and looked back, I could see Baron Cantobias tanking after me from the rear.

This one hastily came out, so there are no substitute horses, whereas that one is a two-headed chariot. Besides, I can't shake it off if they come after me in a disgusting way to crush the dragon riding that tows it.

Alexius stopped the leg of the horse when he looked like he had chewed up a bitter bug.

"Your Highness! What the hell are you going to do?!"

Baron Cantobias, who finally caught up with him, asked him the most so without even saying hello. Besides, Alexius braces herself without evil.

"What I found out. Return to the king's capital and gather your troops again."

What you are saying is best. It's hard to fight the rebel slaves in momentum, just the soldiers of L'Oma today. Then it was logical to ask for an army of support.

But...

"Then why didn't you tell everyone?!"

If we just ask for backup, we should just get a transmission. Alexius himself could stay in the city of L'Oma, where he could put together the defensemen and the crusaders and protect the city from the rebel slaves until backup arrived.

Also, even if it was based on concern that the Prince of the Holmeer kingdom, himself, could be held hostage by his enemies, you just have to return to the King's Capital after communicating it in dignity before everyone else.

But I didn't do it.

I mean, nothing more than because Alexius himself understands this to be just an escape.

"Your Highness will remain a fool until the last generation!

This language of Baron Cantobias becomes a reality, but it is also too painful for Alexius, who does not know it.

"Ugh, shut up, shut up!

Alexius shouted out loud.

It is then.

There was a tiny noise.

Baron Cantobias shrugged in front of Alexius, who looked surprised (somewhat), forgetting what the noise was now.

"How did it go...?

That's what I asked Alexius, but I peeled his eyes off.

What a small arrow stood upon Baron Cantobias's chest. Baron Cantobias even tried to pull out an arrow that stood against his chest, trying to take his hand to his chest and leaning about on his body along the way. And fell straight off the tank to the ground.

"So, Your Highness! Around!"

If Alexius looked around to the voice raised by one of his surroundings, at some point the outfit was surrounded by the men of the city as well.

Some of them rushed to pull out their swords and try to respond, but none of them would remain and be shot.

In a few moments, only Alexius and a few had survived.

"Ki, you guys! Who do you think I am? I am Alexius, first heir to the throne of the Holmeer kingdom!

Alexius raises his finest void, but the men are not upset by the pieces either. Instead, as one representative man advanced from among the humans surrounding him, he bowed his head, poking one knee at Alexius with Kyou.

"Please forgive me for my sudden disrespect, Your Highness Alexius. By the life of my Lord, I have come to welcome you."

That being said, the man showed Alexius a thin plate, big enough to ride on the palm of his neck with strings, instead of his ID.

What was depicted on that board was a crest designing a single snake wrapped around a liquor cup.

"Ko, is this...?!"

In Alexius' eyes, trembling with surprise and fear, the painting serpent seemed to move as if he were alive.
