Hakai no Miko

Episode 107: The Old King's Reason

On the walls of the king's capital, Holmenia, is the flag of the Son of Destruction, which was overturned.

That was also visible to the eyes of Daraios, who was inside the Romanian National Army and commanded the formation.

"Wow. I heard you were a wife in battle with a woman, but you are fast with the Son of Destruction"

Darios was heartily surprised, even though he was lying.

The Son of Destruction does not fight to dictate the kingdom of Holmea. Or the possibility of offering surrender to the Son of Destruction from the side of the State of Holmea was also among Darius's assumptions.

But that's only a possibility.

Even with Darius, it was determined that there was an equal probability that that would happen, and was excluded from that consideration.

First of all, it was very inconceivable that the proud Holmeer nation of the western realm would descend on the Son of Destruction, which is considered the head of the subhuman race and the rebel slaves. Even if they are hunted down by the Romanian state themselves, and suddenly, there will be no handouts (once) negotiating with the Son of Destruction who has looked down and despised them so far. Yet, since this stage, we have not been able to summarize the negotiations for surrender.

That should also be the case as the Son of Destruction.

Darius is all alone.

"Who the hell was involved...?

There can be no other authority and track record in Holmea than that of former Grand Chancellor Pompius to convince the chief ministers to descend to the Son of Destruction.

The problem, however, is how, albeit the Grand Chancellor - no, I don't think that being the Grand Chancellor brings me to the idea of descending cheaply to the Son of Destruction. Then someone can get involved there.

Perhaps, an arbiter. Besides, it's awesome enough to cut one country off only with its tongue. In addition to that, the substandard idea of descending the great powers of the West to the Son of Destruction, the head of the subhuman and insurgent slaves. A bold invincible clown who kicks in common sense and performs a funny (cool) dance on it.

The figure of such a person is portrayed.

"Who? I've never heard of an arbiter who'd do anything like this."

Dalaios, a samurai, and the intelligence of competent personnel in neighbouring countries are constantly blindfolded.

But Darius has never heard of such arbiters before. With such great skill, it was inconceivable that the name had never been known in the world.

"In any case, it's a pain in the ass."

Darius is blurry.

There will no longer be enough power left in the Holmeer country to properly defend the King's capital, which has thrown most of its soldiers into earlier meetings. Darius thought it was something that could be made to fall not so far away.

But if the Son of Destruction were to lead himself into the king's capital, the premise would be overshadowed.

The number of soldiers that the Son of Destruction can move, however much you estimate, is less than half of the Romanian National Army, about 5,000. Besides, most of them will be Zoans who are not good at siege warfare. But still, it would be troublesome if they were fought by the sturdy walls of the king's capital. I also hear that many of the subhumans that the Son of Destruction can obey are Dwarves who specialize in cage castle warfare, so they are never insulted.

When this happens, a short-term castle attack by force pushing is a lower measure. There will be no difficulty in attacking the troops after besieging the king's capital.

In addition to the tens of thousands of former inhabitants, the Wang Capital now has defectors and refugees fleeing the east, and even the gesture of the Son of Destruction. No matter how much food is stored in the pantry, Darius will not be able to keep it that long.

But still, it would take months - more than six months if we did poorly - to attack the King's Capital.

To that own reading, Darius leaked his tongue.

Even if it's a longer battle than expected, you can drop Holmenia with it. However, if the siege is difficult to navigate, the Romanian National Army side will be disadvantaged by the long stretch of supply routes from the country.

That's not all. The northern Hormeans, such as the Marquis of Apius, who can't see any movement now, but if the Romanian National Army handles the Hormenian offensive, I just didn't think I'd keep watching it sideways. They will move their soldiers to cut the supply route, or they will poke directly at the back of the Romanian National Army, which will besiege the King's capital. Then it is important.

This must send a messenger as soon as possible to restrain the movements of the northern Holmeer Marquis.

That's what I thought. Darius sighed once again that it had become a hassle.

But I get my mind back that it's not all bad.

What Daraios was most concerned about in the Holmenian offensive was in fact the Son of Destruction.

Anyway, even Darius, the enemy, is a flirtatious, rare (wanting to come) schemer. I don't know when or where to start. If this one raids where he desperately fell Holmenia and intends to take everything from side to side, it's still good. He's so unreadable that if he did poorly, he could even do a direct blow to the thin Romanian homeland right now.

But the only thing reassuring was that the son of destruction was revealing his location.

"Immediately summon the generals and the lords. In His Majesty's presence, we must reconstruct the hand that drops Holmenia."

Darius ran his commanding men to summon the generals and the marquis as soon as possible.

But a conductor comes from the front line to Daraios so that he doesn't get in the wrong way.

"His Excellency General Darius! This is an order from His Majesty. I want Holmenia down with all the troops immediately."

"What...?!"

Darius was surprised when he peeled his eyes off a little.

The Romanian National Army has just arrived in the land. The generals, who are more distracted by faster advances than expected, have not noticed, but will be fatigued by the streak and long marches to get here. In this state, there is no such thing as a siege battle.

If you do anything at all to attack them, the fatigue you forgot will strike at once and the soldiers will be unable to move off the spot.

In order not to do so, we must first build a camp, where the soldiers must be put to rest for a few days. And in the meantime, it should have been decided in a prior military meeting to prepare a siege weapon or send out a messenger to demand the opening of the castle.

Naturally, King Dordea, who approved it, couldn't have known.

"What the hell happened to His Majesty?

Darius had no choice but to be puzzled by the brief orders of King Dordea and others.

In any case, we can't just go into a siege like this.

Darius rode himself to the front line in order to take King Dordea.

Then, there, King Dordea, descending from the temple, shouted with a high voice as he waved his sword in one hand.

"Attack Holmenia! You fools! Hurry up!"

Where is the prudence even called an old wolf? King Dordea had turned his face bright red and scattered all around him with a tremendous sword screen.

However, many generals are bewildered by the life of a sudden castle attack that is not planned, and instead the confusion only grows.

"Your Majesty! How is it done?!"

Dare to raise your voice, Darius lets you know that he has come. Besides, the generals, who were right and left, give a blatantly hospitable look, whereas only King Dordea screams back in the same angry shape.

"It's Aurelius!

To Daraios, who rounds his eyes to the name he hears without thinking, King Dordea spits and throws up even more.

"Aurelius betrayed the rest and gave it to the child of destruction! That's all, he cursed the rest of us!

"Oh my...!

Daraios is also an acquaintance with Aurelius, who was a leading nobleman of the Romanian nation and a good friend of King Dordea.

That's why I have some thoughts about the Romanian state and the hostile Son of Destruction, but I'm more convinced "I see" than that.

Aurelius was also said to be a sage whose tongue was streamlined with lots of water and glorified as harsh as a blaze, and whose sight was better than a hundred volumes (hundreds of books). But more than that, he was a man known even for his ruinousness.

I'm talking about when my predecessor, who was still King Dordea's father, was alive. Minerals producing quality copper have been found on the border between the two previously more related aristocratic territories. Naturally, the two nobles did not give way to each other claiming possession of copper mines, and at last developed into a matter of whether to settle by soldier horses. And it came to pass, that the king, who had taken a heavy look at the matter, ordered Aurelius to arbitrate.

But when Aurelius, who had received his life, suddenly turned to his gesture, he burned down the mining site after expelling the miners. And before these two unlawfully enraged aristocrats, this is how they reported to their forefathers.

"We have exorcised the evil that tries to undermine the treasures of the country," he said.

His predecessor was flattered by this, but he smiled and responded to it.

"I see. No matter how good a copper mine is, an excellent subordinate cannot be picked. Anything to the detriment of the two who are the treasures of the country is natural. It was great."

Neither the two nobles nor Guru could make any noise to this.

You can't just stick to Copper Mountain now if you are greatly regarded by your predecessor as a treasure of a country that cannot be lost in every copper mine. Copper Mountain also had to be co-mined if either side wanted to dig forcefully but thought Aurelius would burn it down again.

Many warlords who usually look down on the weak and weak, such as civilians, also praised Aurelius for his resolute actions. And Darius was also one of them.

If that ruinous Aurelius, it is not surprising that he drew Pompius with the Son of Destruction. It is also natural to assume that the name has hitherto not been known because, given the background of his departure from the country after insulting King Dordea, he was hiding or changing his name.

After thinking that far, Darius freaked out.

That Aurelius is giving to the Son of Destruction. The fact was something cold on the spine, even with a darios without fear on the battlefield.

"Your Majesty! Please calm your heart!

If Aurelius was even called his best friend, he would be familiar with King Dordea. Then the angry state of mind is also due to the thoughts of Aurelius, so much as to forget the present King Dordea's self.

If we keep going into the siege, we don't know what kind of backlash is waiting for us.

Daraios glorifies King Dordea with his desperate shapes.

"You must not ride the enemy's provocation! Please calm your mind."

The sound of bashing meat blocked Darios' admonition.

"Shut up, Darius! I can't hear the rest of my life!

Not only Dalaios, but even the generals, who swallowed solitary spit and watched the two interact, stare in amazement and harden.

And king Dordea lifted up the cheeks of Darius with the flat sword of the devil in his hand.

It was an ultimatum that if we were to still defend ourselves, we would return the sword and point the blade, not the flat of the sword - that is, we would give death.

I have no choice but to break with the general.

"... obey Your Majesty's wishes"

With his head down and his compliments, Darius became stunned when he realized a certain fact.

When King Dordea is lost in his decision, he occasionally finds out, "If it was Aurelius…", only Darius and very familiar Samurai (Habe) close to him.

Perhaps King Dordea thought of an old friend who once criticized himself painfully in his chest, and by letting him speak with his mouth, he objectively identified things, and in making that decision he was releasing his personal feelings.

The illusion of Aurelius, so to speak, had become reason to suppress King Dordea's emotions.

But Aurelius himself gave it to the Son of Destruction for the time being, throwing an even more painful curse.

This is like reason, which is supposed to suppress emotions, is stirring up anger. King Dordea's frenzy now is also convincing.

Darios, who walked away from the scene to order the generals to attack, turned into a face like he had chewed up a bitter worm.

There is no way the soldiers can fall on the King's Capital without such a lack of preparation on top of their fatigue. This makes it more realistic to think about helping to contain the damage rather than the attack.

If it fails to do so and even the great damage is likely to occur, the momentum caused by the previous great victories will be lost from the soldiers, and vice versa will motivate the Son of Destruction and the remnants of Holmea.

And it's hard to surrender enemies that have once given them momentum. Whatever the predicament, it is because we will continue to resist the victory we have won once as a hope to the end.

"This is going to get muddy..."

Darius thought it would be a muddy battle over a long period of siege that even he wanted to avoid.

But I don't know Darius.

that the Ethereal Horse overlooking the Romanian National Army attacking Holmenia had uttered the following words:

"Come on, I'll put a piece on you at once."
