Episode 108: Holmenia Offensive Battle 1 - Stones and Arrows

"Oh! I'm here, I'm here!

It was Dvarin, entrusted to the earth general, who cheered so much as he watched the Romanian National Army push towards the walls of the king's capital Holmenia, where they stood.

Dvarin turned his eyes to the side and there was a red-handed Dwarf with a mushy face - Dwarf warrior Norzuri, who was formerly in Marben Copper Mountain.

"Holy shit. Still not convinced?

When Dvarin speaks that way, somewhat between them, then Norzuri says.

"... I'm not convinced. but it's not so easy to break it off."

For Norzuri, who has been severely abused as a slave in the Copper Mountains for many years, citing the destruction of his homeland by the State of Holmea, the current situation of having to stand on the walls of the State of Holmea to defend it is an absurd and complex one.

That was also understandable to Dvarin, who was still enslaved by humans and brought to the West Side. But what makes Dvarin different from Norzuri is that the worry had already passed five years ago.

"We may have opened a secret barrel of liquor. If this happens, we'll have to drink it up."

What Dvarin uttered was Dwarf's adage.

Once the barrel is opened, the secret sake will become less and less flavorful. It is a similar meaning to "even dishes if you eat poison", which means that once you start, you have to get it through to the end, turning from having to drink it dry before it does.

"Oh. I get it! We opened the seal."

By "opened the seal," Norzuri was referring to the execution of a compatriot who had recently been drunk in the city of L'Oma and brutalized by residents.

Originally, when he came under the command of the Ethereal Horse, he was sworn to abide by the military statute and was strictly told that if he disobeyed it, he would be punished with severe punishment. It was also a case of entering the city of L'Oma after being severely touched that, for whatever reason, he would be condemned to death if he harmed his inhabitants.

Nevertheless, the Dwarves, including Norzuri, were sympathetic to their compatriots and filed a plea for commutation of their sentences.

The Ethereal Horse's answer to that was to "leave the cutting to Norzuri".

Many of my compatriots were pleased to hear the plea.

But only Norzuri at the time was stunned.

He broke the military code and even promised the residents safety in the name of Aoima himself, while still making it counterproductive. I can't reduce the number of death sentences on the grounds that I was drunk or understandably in the mood. If you do it badly, it can be a bad precedent to say, "I'm drunk" or "Remember the old days" and create a microoffender.

That was painfully understandable to Norzuri, who headed the warriors of Marben Copper Mountain as warrior chief.

Not to mention that the city of L'Oma is the first conquered city in the Holmeer country.

The examples and jurisprudence there will become the norm in the city to be conquered later. Given that, instead of commutating the sentence, we must hit it with severe punishment.

For Norzuri, who understands it, leaving this amputation to him means, "Are you guys really willing to follow me?" It was nothing more than a question of a pale horse.

For this reason, Norzuri pushed out the opposition of many of his compatriots and sentenced his sinful compatriots to life.

And many of his compatriots raised their voices of indifference, ruthlessness and criticism against the Ethereal Horse who was present at the execution. Norzuri, who had undergone the amputation, also bought many shoots.

Norzuri, who evoked it, makes a sinister face, but still smiles faintly and tells Dvarin.

"But the open barrel of liquor was quite something."

Sooner or later, where Norzuri, who had severely punished his compatriots, was sober and cleared of his worries, Shemr came to say it was for use by the Ethereal Horse.

"The executed dwarf is treated as a death in war and the family is given a corresponding grace"

Norzuri, who was so told, was also drunk and threw up, "Keep him on death row, it's even warmer now," he said. And Shemr said unto the mouth of the beast, so bitterly that even the dwarf could see.

"Oh. I told him I was self-satisfied, too. Soma said yes, too."

It was easy to think of the face of a pale horse who laughed bitterly at that time, and Norzuri was the one who accidentally laughed out.

Even if I am aware of it as self-satisfying, I am so heartbroken by the execution of my compatriots that I cannot help but do so.

That's nothing more than the fact that the Ethereal Horse sees Dwarf as a person. It is not a worm, a slave or an inferior race, as many humans on this continent think, but as someone who is no different from himself.

Norzuri felt a fresh surprise and joy.

Norzuri slaps himself in the face with his palm deliberately and abusively.

"Hey, I can't think of any trouble later. Let's do this!

With that said, Norzuri looks back to the stone throwers lined up behind him and to the dwarves who refrain by his side.

"Are you ready for a grilled stone?! Now is the time to show off Marben's warrior flattery!

When Norzuri raised his right arm, the Dwarves said, "Oh!," he chanted.

◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆

The first thing that moves when attacking a castle is an archer.

It is their role to rely on large shields and other defensive walls to approach the wall and eliminate enemy archers and stone throwers hiding in the chest wall.

The next thing you do is act as an engineer.

While the archers suppress enemy attacks, they carry simple earthbags (which) stuffed with soil on their jackets with their cuffs and collars sewn off to erect an embankment near the castle wall, or they build a path to move a siege tower (a mobile tower (yagura) with a ladder (ladder) to overcome the castle wall and a broken castle hammer to smash the wall).

Later, ladder directly from the embankment to the castle wall, use the Siege Tower to ascend to the castle wall, or crush the castle walls and gates by breaking the castle hammer to create an entrance to the castle to defeat the fortress.

This is the common procedure for siege warfare in this era.

And the Romanian National Army also ruled on this basis, and it was the Archer Army that first moved it. The archers, divided into platoons, leaned against the walls of the castle relying on defensive walls lined with large shields held by the soldiers.

Intercepting them like that was a fervent welcome from a Dwarf-made stone thrower brought over the walls. If you take a direct hit of a crimson burnt stone thrown at you by a stone thrower, it equals thin paper, such as a wall of a large shield held by a conscript. Blow up without question the archers who were behind each of the servicemen supporting the Great Shield.

In addition to the high and low differences in the walls, before this onslaught of stone throwers that beat bows even at range distances, some of the Romanian National Army's archer units were forced to break before shooting the bow.

Powerful, however, is a stone thrower with low hitting accuracy. It was impossible to target all the archer squads that would split up into a number of sub-squads and attack them. Romanian National Army archer units approach the walls with Jiriziri in the rain of stone throwing.

It was the elf archers and the archers of the former Holmea National Army who were waiting further for such a Romanian National Army archer unit.

If it is the same bow, it is self-evident reason that it is more advantageous to take the height both in its range and in its power. The elf archers and the archers of the former Army of Holmea took advantage of the interests of their heights to bring down the baptism of the rain of arrows.

Because of this, the Romanian National Army archers, who brought them closer to the range of the arrows, also had to endure by pulling their heads and hands and feet like turtles in the shadow of a great shield.

One of the captains of the archers, who boiled his business to the situation, rises up and inspires the soldiers.

"Don't flinch! Shoot the arrow back!

But it became a barbaric rather than a brave act.

A clear shot shoots through the captain's head. A slightly right-to-head arrow over a metal helmet protrudes from around the left temple to pierce the cheeks from the inside tells the story of its high power.

It was Shahata, Zoan's warrior, who kept a team of elf archers, who released the arrow.

"Brilliant!

The elf woman next door raised her praise, but Shahata simply replied "Thank you."

It is true that Shahata also has a sense that the momentum of her arrows far exceeds that of the elves.

But that's natural, too. Elfinbow and not a magical weapon. The power of that arrow is proportional to how strong a bow can be squeezed. Naturally, Zoan's arm, which runs the earth with four legs, cannot be beaten by the elf women's fine arms.

At the same time, however, Shahata understood that it was not far from an elf reading the wind flow when it came to the accuracy of the arrow hit.

That's why the praise from the elves really seemed like an old lady.

But that is a mistake because the beard that has been removed from the escort of the Ethereal Horse, albeit with no choice, has dug up his once bigoted face.

Actually, Shahata herself hadn't noticed, but there was one more thing he would win over the elves.

It is the eye that discerns the head of the flock.

Unlike elves hunting in the forest, it is the cattle that act in the herd that the Zoans hunt on the plains against. The Zoans, who routinely hunt such herds of cows, instinctively know which individuals they can attack to break up the herd or stop the herd.

The Zoan, Shahata, knew neither himself nor herself, but he saw precisely from among these hundreds of thousands of soldiers the captains of the troops and those like them, and was after them.

And the elf archers who had earlier praised Shahata were, of course, aware of it.

But Shahata, who knew nothing of such a thing as dew, glimpsed a glimpse at the Gate where the Ethereal Horse was, spilling stupidity as follows:

"I think Master Soma's escort would be more useful."

◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆

"Our army is attacking a fierce counter-attack from an enemy who can't even think about its aftermath!

"This siege weapon has been sniped and cannot be approached by the walls of the castle by the stone throwers of those who appear to be Dwarves!

"It is inhibited by an elf-like archer army, and infantry is the same again!

King Dordea turned bright red in his face and went mad at the reports that could be delivered under him one after another.

"How dare you! What a joke!

Particularly frustrating is that it is the subhumans, the inferior races, who are holding this soldier back, and also the Son of Destruction, their leader.

On the other side of that wall, King Dordea was about to boil his head when he wondered if Aurelius would see this Romanian National Army ugliness with that niggly grin.

But no matter how much King Dordea scolds.

All that or the feeling that I was soaring fast forward from among the generals in this sloppy siege had disappeared. Unknowingly, fatigue begins to peek into his face. Earlier, some soldiers pounded their spears and swords, which were weapons, like canes, like they were finally moving.

There were those who far-sighted the Romanian National Army like that and leaked their voices out loud.

"What the hell is this...?

It is Princess Piata, who led the Baihua Squad, who arrived in Holmenia late.
