Chapter 222 Not in the mood
If she couldn’t even eat snacks, life would be no fun at all.
Stephan watched as the girl buried her face in his chest, her soft cheeks rubbing against him, her clear eyes looking pitiful, she looked just like a little kitten trying to be cute and clingy.
Stephan couldn’t take it anymore, how was this any different from blatant temptation and seduction?!
He immediately cupped her chin and planted another fierce kiss on her lips.
Alana, eager to keep the snacks, played along, actively returning his kiss.
A few minutes later, Stephan released the breathless woman, gazing at her soft, rosy, glossy lips, and said cheerfully, “Alright, I’ll let you keep them, but this is a one-time exception.”
Alana breathed a sigh of relief.
She thought to herself, "Beauty really does work wonders."
Since Alana had also bought vegetables and meat, Stephan took them to the kitchen to prep them quickly.
In less than half an hour, a steaming bowl of beef noodles soup was ready.
Stephan brought it over to her. “Try it. See if it suits your taste. I added noddles to make you happy. It’s healthier this way.”
Alana glanced at the beef noodle soup the man had made. The noodles were barely visible; the broth was covered with a layer of sliced meat and greens, along with a slice of fried egg and a sprinkle of chopped scallions.
The aroma wafting from the soup was inviting, and it looked pretty good too.
Alana picked up her chopsticks, stirred the soup a bit, then took a bite. The noodles were soaked in the savory broth and tasted delicious.
She didn’t hold back her praise. “Mmm, delicious.”
Stephan curved his lips. “If you like it, have some more.”
Alana looked at the large, full bowl and seemed a bit hesitant. “But you made so much...I don’t think I can finish it all.”
“If you can’t finish it, I’ll eat it.”
Alana shot him a look. “Do you have a habit of eating leftovers?”
Stephan raised an eyebrow, his smooth talk coming effortlessly, “No, but what you leave behind is a culinary delight, I can’t bear to waste it.”
Alana’s cheeks flushed again. She quickly lowered her head, pretending to be focused on eating, and not falling even deeper in love with her boyfriend.
*********
After eating to her fill and taking a shower, Alana didn’t go to bed early; she sat on the couch cracking sunflower seeds and watching TV.
Stephan, meanwhile, was working on his laptop.
The two sat on opposite ends of the sofa, minding their own business. Yet the scene looked unusually harmonious and warm.
Alana glanced at him from time to time, afraid of disturbing his work, she picked up the remote to turn the volume down a bit.
She had intended to find an opportunity to discuss inviting Cole to dinner with him, but seeing how busy he was, she felt too shy to speak up and decided to wait until he was finished.
But as she waited, she grew drowsy and ended up falling asleep on the sofa.
Stephan looked up and saw the girl slump limply, her head resting on the arm of the sofa.
She wrapped her arms around herself, curling up into a ball.
Seeing this, Stephan set down his laptop, picked up his suit jacket, and carefully draped it over her.
He had intended to cover her with the jacket and then get back to work.
But when he saw her sweet, peaceful sleeping face, he simply couldn’t bring himself to look away.
How could anyone be this adorable even while sleeping?
She looked like a soft, fluffy, milky-white little bunny.
He didn’t know how long he’d been staring. Stephan was just about to pick her up and carry her to the bedroom.
Just as he was about to touch her, the phone she was holding suddenly slipped from her hand and fell to the floor.
Stephan bent down to pick it up, and just then, the screen lit up and the phone vibrated.
Then, he accidentally saw a message from Cole to Alana.
Cole: [Lana dear, when are you free to hang out?]
Stephan’s eyes instantly grew cold.
Without hesitation, he blocked Cole’s phone number.
After doing all that, he glanced at Alana with a hint of guilt.
Seeing that she was still fast asleep, he felt relieved.
But then he had a second thought and realized something was off.
Why was he feeling guilty?
Wasn’t it perfectly normal to block a guy who was trying to steal his girlfriend?
And what was that guy up to just now?
What was he thinking, asking, “Lana dear, when are you free to hang out?”
Lana dear?!
What on earth could his girlfriend possibly have to do with that guy?
The more he thought about it, the more suspicious it seemed. With a cold expression, he paused for a moment, then unblocked Cole and messaged him directly.
Stephan: [What’s this about?]
Could it be that Alana was doing something behind his back that could hurt him?
Cole hadn’t expected Alana to reply so late at night; he was pleasantly surprised.
He replied immediately.
Cole: [You forgot about our dinner plans.]
Stephan’s eyes instantly darkened.
A dinner date?
That scumbag of a homewrecker actually has the nerve to ask his girlfriend out to dinner?!
Does he have no shame?!
Stephan didn’t hesitate to turn down the invitation on her behalf:
Alana: No way. I’m already taken, I don’t go out with other men!
Cole frowned.
Cole: [But didn’t you already agree to go with me?]
Stephan couldn’t help but glance at Alana, who was fast asleep and completely unaware of what was going on.
He clenched his teeth, a bitter smile playing on his lips. Did she really agree to have dinner with another man behind his back?
What happened to the promise that she’d bring him along?
And now she’s secretly gone ahead and made plans?
A woman’s word was as good as a lie!
Stephan was furious and desperately wanted to shake the sleeping woman awake to confront her.
But he didn’t do that, because a plan had suddenly come to mind. A plan to deal with this male homewrecker once and for all!
Stephan replied:
Stephan: [When should we meet?]
Cole: [Whenever you want, I’m good with anything.]
Stephan sneered. Good with anything?! What a phony!
Acting like some obedient good guy? He’s just a male mistress!
Stephan: [Tomorrow night, 8 o’clock!]
Cole: [Sounds good. Where should we meet?]
Stephan paused for a moment, then gave the address of a restaurant.
Cole’s lips curled into a smile when he saw the address.
Cole: [Alright, see you tomorrow night. I’ll be waiting for you.]
Stephan rolled his eyes dramatically.
“Waiting for you?”
As if!
After ending the chat, Stephan deleted the chat history without hesitation and blocked Cole’s contact information.
Once everything was taken care of, he picked up Alana, who was still sleeping soundly, and carried her back to their room to rest.
Alana slept soundly, almost straight through until dawn.
Just as she was about to wake up, she vaguely sensed someone staring at her, it felt eerily unsettling.
She couldn’t help but open her eyes. The moment they fluttered open...still dazed and unfocused...she locked eyes with a pair of pitch-black, utterly lifeless orbs, dangerous and icy cold.
“Ahh!” She was so startled she snapped awake instantly, her face pale with fear.
Only after fully waking up did she realize that the owner of those eyes was none other than Stephan!
At that moment, Stephan was sitting in a chair, his legs crossed, his arms folded
across his chest, staring intently at her.
His dark eyes were a whirlpool of emotion, dark and inscrutable.
Alana immediately sat up in bed, clutching her chest, and glared at the man in fear.
“You... what are you doing sitting by the bed and staring at me first thing in the morning?”
That was pretty scary!
The man continued to stare at her, his voice low and husky. “I wanted to wake you up for breakfast, but you were sleeping so soundly, I didn’t have the heart to disturb you.”
Alana was taken aback. He was already up, and still had time to wait for her to wake
up and eat breakfast?
She had no idea how long he’d been sitting there waiting. Judging by his expression, he seemed to have been waiting long enough to be a little annoyed.
Alana cleared her throat awkwardly. “Um, aren’t you going for a run or to the gym today?”
“No, I’m not in the mood.”
