Alana’s eyes widened. “Stephan, you don’t really mean to...”
Stephan fixed her with an intense gaze. “I do.”
Hearing this, Alana’s heart skipped a beat.
Stephan took her hand firmly and led her to the ring section.
“Take a good look. See if there’s a ring here you like.”
Alana bit her lip, her ears burning with embarrassment. “Isn’t this... a bit wrong?”
They hadn’t even discussed marriage yet, wasn’t buying a ring a bit too fast?
“How about we look at some other jewelry instead? A necklace or a bracelet would be fine.”
Stephan raised an eyebrow, looking at her amusedly. “I was just asking if there were any rings here you liked...I didn’t say I was going to buy one for you.”
Alana frowned.
Did she read too much into it?
But if he didn’t want to buy her one, why ask if she liked it?
Men’s hearts were as inscrutable as the depths of the ocean, impossible to fathom. But Alana couldn’t help but glance at the rings displayed behind the counter. The rings came in a wide variety of styles, a dazzling array.
Most were dazzling diamond rings, sparkling and eye-catching.
The diamonds came in white, pink, and red, with varying patterns, shapes, and sizes. Some diamonds were even larger than pigeon eggs.
Alana glanced at the price tags...tens of millions.
She was instantly put off.
Stephan had been watching Alana’s reaction the whole time. “Do you like this big diamond ring?”
Alana shook her head decisively. “No, no, no. A diamond ring this big wouldn’t look right on my finger.”
Stephan curved his lips. Deep down, he still hoped she’d let him buy it for her to wear. Women...they always say one thing but mean another!
Alana had her eye on a pink diamond ring.
The pink diamond was neither too large nor too small; the design was simple yet elegant, delicate and petite, perfect for everyday wear.
However, it wasn’t cheap...it cost several million.
But Stephan had no intention of buying it for her, so she might as well take a few more looks and feast her eyes on it.
Stephan noticed Alana’s gaze, raised an eyebrow slightly, and turned to instruct the sales clerk.
“Bring out that pink diamond.”
The clerk retrieved the pink diamond ring and respectfully handed it to Stephan.
Stephan took the ring and looked at Alana.
“Give me your hand. I’ll let you try it on.”
Alana’s heart skipped a beat, and her voice trembled slightly. “No need to try it on. We’re not buying it anyway.”
But Stephan took her small hand in his.
Sensing her slight resistance as she tried to pull her hand back,
Stephan held her hand firmly, the diamond ring on his finger sliding decisively yet gently onto her slender little finger.
Alana felt a cool sensation on her finger and couldn’t help but look down.
The pink diamond ring was gently slipped onto her little finger by the man, sliding slowly all the way to the very end.
Her heart was racing.
The ring locked firmly around her finger, as if it were meant to lock away her entire life, leaving her with no chance of escape.
Stephan raised his gaze, his eyes fixed intently on her. “It fits perfectly.”
Alana blushed and pressed her lips together slightly. She was afraid that once she put it on, she wouldn’t be able to bear to take it off.
Alana pulled her hand away from his, clenched her teeth, and ruthlessly slipped the ring off her pinky finger, carefully placing it back where it belonged.
She tugged at his arm nonchalantly.
“Alright, it doesn’t look that great on me, and I don’t really like it. Let’s go look at some other jewelry.”
Stephan looked at Alana, his gaze seeming to hold a deeper meaning.
But he didn’t resist, letting Alana lead him away.
In the end, Stephan selected a necklace and a bracelet for her based on her preferences.
Stephan thoughtfully fastened the newly purchased necklace around her neck. The girl had a slender, beautiful neck, fair and delicate, perfect for a stunning gemstone necklace.
“Why aren’t you wearing the ruby necklace I gave you last time?”
Alana muttered softly, “That one is too valuable. I’m afraid I’ll lose it if I wear it, so I put it away. I’ll save it for a special occasion.”
He chuckled but didn’t say anything.
Alana tugged at his hand again. “Come on, let’s go check out the rest of the store.”
Stephan didn’t move for a moment, then instructed the clerk, “Wrap up that ring from earlier for me.”
Upon hearing this, Alana immediately grew anxious. “You... didn’t you say you wouldn’t buy me a ring?”
Stephan lowered his gaze, amused by the girl’s flustered reaction. “I’m not buying it for you...I’m buying it for my future wife.”
She gasped.
The clerk handed over the wrapped diamond ring with a smile. “Sir, the ring is wrapped. The total is six million.”
Stephan handed his bank card to the teller, then took the red box and cradled it in his palm.
He looked down and saw the girl’s eager gaze fixed on him. He curved his lips into a
smile. “Do you want it? Call me ‘husband,’ and I’ll give it to you.”
That teasing, mischievous tone pierced Alana’s ears, making her blush instantly.
Combined with the teasing, gossipy stares from the female tellers around her, Alana felt she couldn’t bear to stay there any longer.
“You’re so annoying!”
“I’m not talking to you anymore!” She was mortified, so she let go of his hand and turned to walk away.
After retrieving his bank card, Stephan set off in pursuit of Alana.
He quickly caught up to her, grabbed her hand, and pulled her into his arms. “Why are you running so fast, hmm?”
Alana clenched her fist and gave the man’s solid, muscular chest a light punch.
“Who told you to be so mean, making me call you ‘husband’ in front of all those people?”
Stephan raised an eyebrow. “I thought you’d like it. After all, you call me that every night.” He lowered his head and playfully bit her soft earlobe. “You call it over and over again, until my bones go weak and tingly...I can’t even explain just how good it feels.”
Amanda’s cheeks flushed, as rosy as ripe berries.
She pouted, her voice a mix of playfulness and annoyance, “As if you didn’t force me to call you that every night!”
Stephan laughed. The way she looked so fierce yet couldn’t help but get all riled up was incredibly adorable.
“Yes, I forced you to call me that. After all, I want to be your husband.”
Alana blinked. She really didn’t want to deal with him anymore; he was getting more and more shameless.
Suddenly, she felt a chill on her finger.
Alana looked down and was surprised to find that, while she wasn’t paying attention, the man had secretly slipped the ring back onto her little finger.
Staring at the sparkling pink diamond ring on her finger, she looked at Stephan in shock.
“You...”
Stephan wrapped his arms around her slender waist and said earnestly, “I told you, this ring is a gift for my future wife. Alana, you are my future wife.”
Upon hearing this, Alana couldn’t help but tear up, her eyes misting over.
“But I haven’t decided to marry you yet.”
Stephan curved his lips, showing no sign of discouragement. Instead, he cupped her face and said sincerely, “It doesn’t matter if you’re not ready now. It’s enough that I intend to marry you. I’ll prove to you, step by step, how determined I am to marry you. Whether you agree to marry me or not right now, it won’t change my resolve. This ring is proof of that.”
He would make every preparation necessary to marry her, and when the day came that she had made up her mind and agreed to marry him, he would have her carried home in a grand style.
Alana’s heart was deeply moved.
She thought that in her entire life, she might never again meet a man like Stephan, one who would care for her unconditionally and always have her best interests at heart.
Time and again, he had shaken her resolve never to marry. If she were ever to marry, that person had to be Stephan and no one else.
Her nose grew slightly stuffy. “Stephan, you just bought this ring, and now it’s already on my finger. Aren’t you afraid I’ll lose it?”
He replied sincerely, “I’m not afraid. If you lose it, I’ll buy you another one. I’m not scared you’ll lose the ring. What I’m afraid of is losing your desire to marry me.”
