But she had no idea that her conversation with Stephan had been completely overheard; otherwise, she’d feel so embarrassed.
Alana remembered the main point and quickly asked, “Um, are you free right now? I need your help with something.”
“What do you need?”
She replied, “I bought some stuff at the supermarket, but I don’t have enough money to pay. Could you transfer me a thousand dollars?”
Everyone gasped.
What was going on?
Does Mr. Hudson’s girlfriend not have enough money to spend?
Could it be that Mr. Hudson was stingy and hasn’t given his girlfriend any spending money?
Stephan glanced at the group of executives watching the spectacle, realized his reputation was being tarnished.
He furrowed his brow, and immediately set the record straight.
“Sweetheart, didn’t I give you one of my black cards? Why aren’t you using it?”
Alana looked very embarrassed. “I forgot to bring it.”
Stephan snorted with a laugh. “Forgot to bring it?”
She must have left it at home on purpose, right?
He’d given her his card, yet she was still reluctant to use it, he really didn’t know what to say to her.
“Remember to keep it with you from now on.”
“Okay, um, now...”
“I’ll transfer it to you right away.” Stephan tapped his fingers and transferred ten million directly to her.
Alana gasped when she saw the sudden appearance of ten million in her account.
“Ten million? Did your hand slip? Did you add a few extra zeros by mistake?”
“No, my hand is as steady as a rock.”
“But you didn’t need to send me that much...I was only short a thousand dollars.”
Alana’s mind raced with panic. Could he have transferred his entire fortune to her?
Stephan curved his lips. “It’s fine. Use it for now. I’m leaving the rest in your care. Use it whenever you need it. After all, what’s mine is yours.”
Alana felt a warm glow in her heart. “Okay, we’ll talk when you get home. I’ll go pay the bill so I don’t keep you from getting back to work.”
“Wait, don’t hang up yet. Kiss me before you do.”
Alana’s face flushed again.
This man! How did she end up dating such a frivolous man?
Oh well, she chose him herself, so she might as well spoil him.
She pressed her hand over her mouth and whispered into the phone, “Muah...”
A soft, sweet voice drifted over, burrowing into Stephan’s eardrums and immediately sending a thrill through his chest.
A tingling sensation, like an electric current running through him, tingling, sweet sensation.
In that moment, the man felt as if his heart was melting.
Alana’s cheeks flushed as she lowered her voice. “Okay, no more kissing. I’ve got
things to do. We’ll kiss when you get back. I’m hanging up now. Bye.”
Without waiting for his reply, she hung up.
Stephan’s expression clearly showed he wasn’t ready to end the call.
The other executives were no strangers to such matters. Seeing Stephan’s dejected look, they all guessed he’d fallen head over heels.
Forced to endure this public display of affection, they had no choice but to put on
flattering smiles.
“Mr. Hudson, you and your girlfriend are truly a loving couple!”
“When are you getting married? We’d like to prepare our envelopes in advance!”
Stephan smiled faintly. “Soon.”
“I’m almost done with the courtship process. When the time is right, I’ll bring her home to meet my parents, and then we’ll discuss marriage. Dating, meeting the parents, discussing engagement, and then getting married...we’ll take it step by step, one at a time. The order can’t be changed. We can’t skip any of the necessary steps.”
The executives smiled and offered their blessings.
“No matter when the wedding takes place, we’d like to wish you and your girlfriend a long and happy life together, and a union that lasts a hundred years!”
“May you be blessed with children soon!”
Stephan raised an eyebrow.
They were going to let him get ahead of himself now, if he did, he might even come up with a name for the baby right now, a baby he’d have with Alana in the future.
Maybe they should have a baby girl just like her, delicate and adorable.
She’d surely be a delight.
Then, with Alana in his left arm and his daughter in his right, the three of them together...what a beautiful picture that would be.
Lost in these thoughts, Stephan lost all interest in lingering any longer. “Alright, let’s call it a night. My girlfriend says she misses me, so I need to head home early to spend time with her.”

Meanwhile, at the supermarket.
Alana had successfully checked out and was about to leave with her bags.
However, Darla suddenly stopped her.
She asked, “Alana, could you tell me who your boyfriend is?”
She was startled. She had thought Darla had left long ago, but to her surprise, she was still there.
Also, wasn’t Darla aware of her relationship with Stephan?
Or she needed further confirmation?
Hearing Darla mention her boyfriend, Alana’s heart gave a sudden jolt. “Why... why are you asking about my boyfriend?”
Darla had been quite curious about her boyfriend, so while Alana was intently on the phone, she had eavesdropped a little.
But to her surprise, when she heard the man’s voice on the phone, it felt very familiar.
It sounded like she’d heard it somewhere before.
Could it be that Alana’s boyfriend was a male friend she knew?
What’s more, when Alana asked her boyfriend to transfer money, he actually sent her ten million dollars in one go. The fact that he could casually hand over ten million meant her boyfriend wasn’t just rich...he was incredibly wealthy.

“Last time you were at the supermarket with your boyfriend, I saw my fiancé, Stephan. So I didn’t get a chance to meet your boyfriend then. Tell me now...who knows, maybe I actually know him.”

Stephan didn’t tell her they were dating?
Alana’s heart skipped a beat.
Why the heck was she referring to Stephan as her boyfriend?
When did her boyfriend become Darla’s fiancé?
Alana felt a lump in her throat. For a moment, she wanted to tell Darla straight out that her boyfriend was Stephan!
Stephan was hers, he was definitely not Darla’s fiancé!
But then she thought about how Darla might be the future daughter-in-law recognized by Stephan’s parents, and might even already be acting as his fiancée to his parents.
Alana felt as if something were blocking her throat; she couldn’t get a single word out.
“Sorry, I have to go.” Alana fled the scene as if in a panic, hurrying away with her bag in hand.
Darla watched her retreating figure and narrowed her eyes.
Darla had run into Alana a few times already. Since she lived nearby, and might even be living with her boyfriend...
If she followed her now and found out where Alana lived, she might even be able to find out who her boyfriend was...
Darla wasn’t in the habit of following people, but at that moment, she really felt an urgent desire to confirm out who Alana’s boyfriend was.
Especially... after hearing that man’s voice on the phone....that faint, yet unmistakable sense of familiarity was overwhelming.
Darla was about to run after her when her phone suddenly rang.
It was a call from the hospital.
“Dr. Gordon, one of your patients is here looking for you. Could you please come to the hospital?”
“Okay, I’ll be right there.”

Alana returned to Stephan’s apartment, set the bags on the coffee table, then sat
on the sofa and stared into space for a moment.
Even though she and Stephan were officially dating now, every time she faced Darla and heard her refer to herself as Stephan’s fiancée, she felt as if she were having an affair with him.
It felt illegitimate and improper, like she was a mistress hiding in the shadows.
Why was she thinking this way?
Besides, Stephan had already told her that he didn’t like Darla and wouldn’t marry her; it was just his mother who had taken it upon herself to treat Darla as her future daughter-in-law.
Alana, stop overthinking this.
