Chapter 208 In a bit of a mess
Besides, she was in a bit of a mess right now and felt too embarrassed to show her face to a rich woman.
“Are you really not going to meet her?”The little boy blinked. “My mommy is just as pretty as you, Miss!”
Alana shook her head. “No, thank you. Given my current situation, it’s not really appropriate.”
“Okay.” The little boy sounded a bit disappointed.
But he quickly cheered up, his bright, clear eyes sparkling as he asked, “I didn’t get a chance to ask you last time...what’s your name?”
Alana softened her tone. “My name is Alana.”
The little boy nodded and repeated it with a hint of uncertainty, “Alana...I like your name...I’ll remember it! You have to remember my name too, okay? My name is Jamin. Everyone calls me Jam or Minmin. You can call me Minmin too!”
Alana chuckled. “Okay, Minmin.”
Jamin was such a cute name. And surely, his family must treat him like the apple of their eye. How lovely.
Chad hurried over. “Young master, stop fooling around. Your mom is calling you!”
Jamin ignored Chad and instead reached out to take Alana’s hand.
This pretty lady wasn’t just beautiful, even her hands were so pretty and soft to the touch.
They were so soft and comfortable!
Jamin blinked and asked earnestly, “Pretty sister, have you broken up with that old guy from last time yet? If you have, let’s get together! I remember I gave you my contact info...make sure to reach out to me, okay? I want to chat with you every day and hear your lovely voice!”
Alana blinked.
Chad gave Alana an awkward smile. “I’m sorry, miss. The young master keeps trying to act mature. Please don’t take it personally.”
Alana smiled. “It’s okay.”
She didn’t take what a child said, seriously.
Chad remembered the reason for coming back and pulled out the bank card. “By the way, miss, my car just hit yours. Are you okay? This is compensation from the Madam. There’s 200,000 yuan in there. The PIN is six sixes. If you’re hurt, take the money and go to the hospital for a checkup.”
When Alana saw the bank card Chad was handing her, she was taken aback and quickly refused, “No, no, thank you! I’m fine, I don’t need any compensation!”
Chad never expected that in this day and age, there were still people who weren’t
tempted by money. He was giving her money for free, and she was actually turning it down?
How unusual!
“Miss, you really should take it. Madam said she wanted to compensate you...it’s a way for her to feel at peace.”
Alana waved her hand, refusing to take it. “I really don’t need it. Tell your Madam I’m fine...she shouldn’t worry so much! Besides, two hundred thousand is way too much!”
The woman from the car suddenly called out to Chad, saying they were running late.
Chad quickly grabbed the little boy. “Take care, Miss.” With that, he forced the card into Alana’s hand.
“No, I don’t need...”
Before she could return it, Chad was already hurrying away.
Alana was limping as she chased after him, having twisted her ankle. She hadn’t gone far before a large hand grabbed her and pulled her into a strong, burning embrace.
The scent was one she knew well.
The man held her tightly, his muscles taut, his Adam’s apple bobbing visibly as he struggled with his tension.
“Why are you running? Didn’t I tell you to wait right where you were and not move?”
“Stephan, how did you get here so fast?”
Stephan looked down at her, clenching his jaw. “I flew over on a rocket. What do you
think?”
Alana blinked.
He let go of her, then couldn’t help but grab her rounded shoulders and examine her from head to toe.
“Are you okay? Tell me, where are you hurt?”
Alana could tell the man was worried about her, the large hands gripping her
shoulders were trembling slightly.
She soothed him gently, “I’m fine. I’m not hurt, just a little shaken up.”
“Then why were you running just now? You were limping. Did you hurt your foot?”
“No, I just twisted it a bit. It wasn’t serious; I’m fine now.”
“Damn it, you really gave me a heart attack!”
Once Stephan was certain the girl was all right, he pulled her into his arms, resting his chin against her soft hair and gently nuzzling her.
Only by holding her like this, feeling her presence, did his frantic, anxious heart gradually begin to calm down a little.
Alana let him hold her like this, completely still.
The tension and fear from the near-accident also gradually subsided in his warm embrace.
She was truly surprised and relieved that he had rushed over to find her so quickly.
And didn’t this prove that he truly cared about her?
His care was never just empty words; he was showing her through his actions that he was worried about her and cared deeply for her.
Leaning against him, Alana felt truly safe.
Suddenly, as if she’d noticed something, her eyes widened. “You... why aren’t you
wearing shoes?”
Plus, he was still in his pajamas, and the buttons weren’t even fastened.
He looked a complete mess.
Stephan voice was deep and firm. “A pair of shoes is nothing compared to you. Instead of wasting time putting on slippers, I’d rather find you as soon as possible.”
Alana felt a sweet warmth in her heart. “I...I told you I’m fine. Don’t be so worried!”
Stephan couldn’t help but cup her fair, delicate face and say earnestly, “It’s not just worry...it’s fear! Alana, I was afraid something might’ve happen to you!”
If something happened to her, what would he do?
At that moment, his mind had gone blank; all he could think about was finding her as soon as possible to make sure she was safe.
Alana’s heart was burning.
She gazed into the man’s dark, deep eyes, where the tension, worry, and lingering fear
were so clear and real.
Every touch conveyed his sincere and passionate feelings.
So intense, it moved her deeply.
Her eyes were warm and misty, yet the corners of her mouth couldn’t help but turn up. “Stephan, don’t worry. I’m fine. And I promise you, from now on I’ll take good care of myself and won’t make you worry or be afraid.”
Stephan looked at her earnest expression, said nothing, but simply cupped her face and leaned down to kiss her forehead with all his might.
“Come with me to the hospital. I want to have you checked out.” Then he bent down and scooped her up into his arms.
Alana wobbled slightly as he lifted her, and her arms instinctively wrapped around his neck.
“It’s okay. I was in the car when it happened...I just got hit on the forehead. It’s nothing serious.”
When Stephan heard that her forehead had been hit, he immediately looked at it and noticed a slightly reddened spot.
Even though it was just a slight redness, he still couldn’t rest easy. He coaxed her gently.
“Come on, let’s get you checked out. I won’t feel at ease until I do.”
Alana sensed the firmness in his tone, sighed helplessly, and stopped resisting.
Stephan held her in his arms and strode toward his car with steady, confident steps.
Held in his arms, Alana felt completely safe.
She couldn’t help but notice his bare feet stepping on the dirty pavement, and it pained her a little.
When had he ever looked so disheveled?
Also, the road was covered with tiny pebbles; stepping on them must hurt.
With that thought in mind, she simply asked him. “Does it hurt?”
Hearing the girl’s soft, concerned tone, Stephan’z brow twitched slightly, and he
couldn’t help but lower his gaze to look at the girl in his arms.
The girl looked at him with eyes that were clear and luminous, yet veiled in a misty haze, glistening with a faint sheen of tears.
His heart stirred slightly as well, and he replied in a hoarse, low voice.
“Your man’s skin is thick; it won’t hurt.”
Alana bit her lip; she didn’t believe a word of it.
Even if he were tough as nails, walking barefoot on a road covered in dust and small pebbles would still be uncomfortable.
She sniffed. “Stephan, no matter what, you have to remember to wear shoes, okay?”
Stephan chuckled. “Okay, got it.”
