Chapter 102: Yin Junjie Came To Talk About Her Superbike
Had Qiao Meixia said something inherently amusing? She briefly replayed her own words in her head, but found absolutely nothing worth laughing about.
"Beauty." One of the boys finally managed to choke out through his laughter, "Brother Junjie’s morning schedule does not even start until ten o’clock!"
Everyone around them nodded repeatedly in full agreement.
"Yeah!"
"He routinely skips the early morning sessions altogether."
"Oh..." Qiao Meixia simply gave a small, understanding nod.
Without uttering another word, she picked up her helmet, tucked it under her arm, and walked away toward the academic building with steady, unhurried steps.
"How rude..." Muttered the boy who had earlier declared Jiang Yanna his angel goddess, crossing his arms.
He wanted to continue complaining about her cold attitude.
However, the very instant Yin Junjie shot him a sharp, warning side-glance, the boy immediately shut his mouth tight. Yin Junjie himself watched Qiao Meixia’s retreating, aloof figure for a brief moment longer before turning on his heel and heading off with the rest of the group.
....
Qiao Meixia soon arrived at her homeroom classroom. The exact moment she stepped through the front door, Han Mengyu was the first to spot her.
"Meixia!" Han Mengyu’s eyes brightened instantly. "You look incredibly good in the official Hannan First High School uniform!"
"Yeah." Shou Meiling chimed in, nodding repeatedly in agreement. "It suits your aura perfectly."
The structured, high-end school uniform paired with Qiao Meixia’s textured, layered short bob created a cool, razor-sharp elegance that naturally drew dozens of subtle glances from other classmates across the room.
Before anyone could continue their casual chatter, their homeroom teacher, Peng Jian, walked into the classroom carrying his lesson plans and teaching materials.
"Everyone, back to your assigned seats." Peng Jian called out firmly.
The previously noisy classroom immediately quieted down as the students scrambled back to their respective desks.
...
Once the morning classes concluded, Qiao Meixia’s phone vibrated softly in her pocket. She pulled it out and glanced at the lit screen. It was a message from Jiang Suhan.
[Jiang Suhan]: Qiaoqiao, remember to come home a little earlier today, alright? The master suite that was being custom-renovated for you has finally been completed.
If Jiang Suhan had not explicitly sent a text to remind her, she likely would have forgotten about the ongoing estate renovations entirely. Truthfully, she did not mind staying in her current guest bedroom at all. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it. In fact, because it was located further away from the main family wing, she actually preferred its quiet seclusion and absolute privacy.
Still, she could not simply ignore Jiang Suhan’s genuine thoughtfulness. He was the only person in that household who had consistently tried to protect and care for her ever since she returned to the Jiang Estate. Since she had no pressing underground operations to handle today, she decided she would head back to the estate earlier after stopping by her private penthouse apartment for a short break.
Slipping her phone back into her bag, she rested her head on her folded arms on the desk. She intended to take a quick power nap before the afternoon sessions kicked off.
Not long afterwards, Yin Junjie finally strolled lazily into the classroom just as the second period bell was about to chime.
The very first thing he did upon entering was glance toward Qiao Meixia’s desk. Originally, he had planned to walk over and continue asking her all about the custom specs on her Ducati Panigale V4 R.
Unfortunately, he discovered that Qiao Meixia had already fallen fast asleep, her face buried lightly in her arms. Looking at her peaceful, undisturbed sleeping profile, Yin Junjie hesitated for a brief second before quietly pulling out his chair and sitting down at his own desk. He decided he would simply find another opportunity to ask her later.
As the bell signalled the start of the next period, Yin Junjie leaned over, intending to wake the sleeping girl beside him. However, before he could utter a word, Qiao Meixia smoothly lifted her head. She gave her neck a light stretch, rolled her shoulders, and calmly prepared for the upcoming lesson.
Throughout the afternoon, Qiao Meixia remained true to her usual aloof self. She either listened silently to the lectures or rested her chin in one hand while absentmindedly twirling her pen between her slender fingers. Whenever a teacher posed a complex question to the floor, the classroom instantly surged with energy as eager students competed to volunteer answers. Qiao Meixia never once raised her hand. Yet every instructor whose gaze drifted toward her corner could not help but harbour the undeniable suspicion that she had already mastered the material long ago.
...
Ring! Ring! Ring!
The final dismissal bell finally echoed across the campus of Hannan First High School. Relief washed through the corridors as students happily celebrated the end of another school day.
"Finally..." Han Mengyu stretched her arms lazily over her head. "I am completely starving."
"Me too! Whatever I ate for lunch was digested hours ago. My stomach is practically hollow!" Ruan Jiaojiao rubbed her stomach with exaggerated misery.
"You say that literally every single day." Shou Meiling chuckled, shaking her head.
"Because it is true!" Ruan Jiaojiao argued in full agreement.
"Well, I heard a brand-new restaurant just opened down the street," Ruan Jiaojiao piped up, her eyes lighting up. "Do you guys want to check it out?"
"What kind of food do they serve?" Han Mengyu asked with sudden interest.
"Speciality grilled meat! Word on the street is that their house-made dipping sauce is ridiculously delicious." Ruan Jiaojiao reported.
"Hmm... That actually sounds amazing. Let me in." Shou Meiling agreed immediately.
"Let’s ask Meixia if she wants to come along." Han Mengyu suggested.
The three girls quickly packed up their belongings and drifted over to Qiao Meixia’s desk, where she was casually slinging her things together.
"Meixia, we are heading over to a new grilled meat spot down the road. Do you want to join us?" Shou Meiling asked warmly.
"No." Qiao Meixia replied flatly, zipping up her black backpack. "I have something else to attend to."
"Aww..." Han Mengyu pouted dramatically. "You can’t keep rejecting us like this next time!"
"Hmm... Next time." Qiao Meixia gave a concise nod.
"Fine!" Han Mengyu let out an exaggerated sigh. "You better not forget your promise!"
Qiao Meixia gave one last brief nod, swung her backpack over one shoulder, and glided out of the classroom.
The late afternoon sun painted the expansive school grounds in a warm, golden hue. Students poured out of the academic buildings in lively clusters, chatting animatedly as they made their way toward the main gates or the parking areas.
The moment Qiao Meixia stepped into the designated motorcycle lot, she spotted a tall, familiar figure standing directly beside her custom Ducati.
It was Yin Junjie. He had one hand casually tucked into his trousers pocket while the other absentmindedly spun his helmet by the strap. The second he caught sight of Qiao Meixia approaching, his eyes lit up with bright anticipation.
"You finally came." Yin Junjie noted, straightening his posture.
"You have been waiting for me?" Qiao Meixia raised a slender eyebrow.
"Yeah." Yin Junjie admitted, nodding directly. He then scratched the back of his neck in rare, awkward hesitation. "I actually wanted to ask you something."
"What is it?" Qiao Meixia asked, a faint trace of perplexity in her calm eyes.
Yin Junjie’s sharp gaze immediately dropped down toward the dark purple Ducati Panigale V4 R resting in her bay.
"Your bike..." Yin Junjie began, dragging out his tone.
"What about it?" Qiao Meixia inquired softly.
"Can I... take a closer look at it?" Yin Junjie asked, showing genuine courtesy as he sought her permission.
Qiao Meixia studied him quietly for a few beats before giving a light nod. "Sure."
Yin Junjie’s expression brightened instantly. He dropped into a squat beside the superbike, carefully analysing every line, contour, and component without daring to touch the pristine paintwork recklessly.
"The custom metallic coat... the ultra-light forged wheels... these integrated carbon-fibre winglets... This is not just some standard factory customisation package." Yin Junjie observed aloud, his astonishment growing with every second he spent inspecting it.
No," Qiao Meixia answered with complete honesty. "I modified it myself."
Yin Junjie snapped his head up, blinking at her in absolute shock.
"What? You modified this yourself?" Yin Junjie asked in shock.
"Hmm..." Qiao Meixia nodded smoothly.
"You personally selected every single modification on this beast?" Yin Junjie asked, wanting double confirmation.
"Hmm..." Qiao Meixia gave another simple nod.
Yin Junjie slowly rose to his feet, pacing around the machine in sheer awe before pausing again.
