Chapter 572 - 342: Origin of the Puzzle
Mr. Ya and the two Venerable Powerhouses from the Wol Family and the Stu Commerce Association—three Venerable Powerhouses in total—surrounded Baliss from three directions.
Baliss laughed. "My, my. I must be quite the important figure to warrant three Venerable Powerhouses coming to capture me."
Mr. Ya grinned, showing off his two large front teeth. "I’m not with them, you know. How about it? Want me to help you shake these two clowns?"
"That won’t be necessary. I’d suggest you team up with them instead. Otherwise, you’ll probably be the first one to die."
"You seem very confident." Mr. Ya wasn’t concerned. ’Even Legendary-tier experts can’t kill me, let alone a Venerable.’
"You really think you have me cornered?" Baliss sneered as his aura erupted, a cyan light of evolution flaring out, completely undisguised.
"I can’t believe it’s only been three years, and you’ve already become a Venerable Powerhouse. But so what? Don’t tell me you think that the moment you ascend, you’re stronger than both of us combined?" the Wol Family’s Venerable Powerhouse mocked.
Despite his words, he was clearly growing more cautious. He even sent a Spiritual Transmission to the Venerable Powerhouse from the Stu Commerce Association: "Be careful. We don’t know what this kid got from the Inheritance Treasure Vault. We can’t afford to underestimate him!"
The situation had suddenly become complicated. The two Venerable Powerhouses from the Wol Family and the Stu Commerce Association were a team, while Baliss and Mr. Ya were each on their own.
But numbers didn’t necessarily mean strength.
Although Mr. Ya’s damage output was garbage, he had absorbed a Divine Blood Crystal. His exceptional escape and defensive capabilities placed him in a virtually invincible position.
Baliss, it seemed, also had an ace up his sleeve.
Because of this complex standoff, no one made a move for a moment, afraid that striking first would make them the target of a group attack.
In the end, it was Baliss who couldn’t wait any longer and made the first move!
He couldn’t afford to drag things out.
The Wol Family and the Stu Family each had two Venerable Powerhouses, but only one from each family had arrived so far. The other two, Frank Stu and Craig Wall, were likely on their way.
Mr. Ya probably had reinforcements, too.
But Baliss was a different story. His Hogan Family was suffering from a generational gap in talent; the previous generation hadn’t produced any outstanding geniuses. Furthermore, his grandfather, Uur Hogan, had once consumed far too many of the family’s resources, leaving their strength at a low ebb.
He was currently their only Venerable Powerhouse, with no one to back him up.
Baliss knew he had to end this quickly—either defeat his opponents or escape.
If he delayed any longer and more Venerable Powerhouses arrived, he wasn’t sure he’d be able to break out of the encirclement.
Like an arrow loosed from its bow, Baliss shot toward Mr. Ya. He chose Mr. Ya as his target because he was alone and looked young, which suggested he had also become a Venerable Powerhouse recently.
But he hadn’t expected Mr. Ya’s reaction time and speed to be far beyond his imagination. Before Baliss could even get close, Mr. Ya had already widened the distance between them.
WHOOSH!
A sphere suddenly materialized in Baliss’s hand, and with a raised arm, he hurled it.
It seemed to be condensed from energy, yet it wasn’t an energy construct but a solid, physical ball.
The ball was covered in mottled patterns of blue, yellow, green, white... a dazzling kaleidoscope of colors.
The sphere’s flight speed was astonishing. Light and shadow warped in its wake, and it seemed as if space itself was twisting around it.
Mr. Ya’s expression instantly turned grave. He could sense that the sphere possessed a weight completely disproportionate to its size.
He had a premonition of danger. The sphere was moving faster than he could fly; he wouldn’t be able to dodge it. But he wasn’t flustered.
He had at least two ways to block it.
"Invincibility!"
Mr. Ya directly activated his invincibility skill, and a golden shield of light enveloped him.
THUD!
The sphere slammed into Mr. Ya, letting out a muffled thud.
Mr. Ya stood as steady as a mountain, not moving an inch.
After the impact, the sphere immediately dissolved into energy and dissipated.
Baliss was stunned, seemingly unable to believe that his attack had absolutely no effect.
At that moment, the two Venerable Powerhouses from the Stu Family and the Wol Family attacked in unison, seizing the opportunity to launch a surprise attack on Baliss from behind.
Baliss seemed to have been expecting it. He spun around, throwing a punch toward the pair. But at some point, another sphere had already materialized in his hand!
Before his fist could land, the sphere had already shot from his palm, flying toward the closer of the two—the Wol Family’s Venerable Powerhouse.
Seeing the sphere hurtling toward him, the Wol Family’s Venerable Powerhouse didn’t dare be careless. He crossed his hands, and a massive tower shield materialized before him.
BOOM!
The sphere struck the tower shield. The shield, which had looked so thick and sturdy, crumpled instantly as if it were made of paper.
The sphere smashed through the shield and slammed squarely into the body of the Wol Family’s Venerable Powerhouse.
Like a stray cat hit by a speeding train, he was sent flying backward. In that instant, every bone and organ in his chest was utterly pulverized.
His chest was flattened like a thin pancake.
Pulverized organs, bones, and blood were squeezed into every part of his body, gushing out from his mouth, nostrils, eyes, and even his pores!
Though the impact seemed to be only on his chest, in reality, tissues throughout his body, even his brain, had suffered catastrophic damage.
This single blow had nearly smashed the Wol Family’s Venerable Powerhouse to death!
Meanwhile, the attack from the Stu Commerce Association’s Venerable Powerhouse had also landed on Baliss. He parried hastily but was still injured.
Seeing the Wol Family’s Venerable Powerhouse lying on the ground twitching faintly, barely breathing, the Venerable from the Stu Commerce Association grew terrified. He quickly backed away from Baliss, afraid that he would produce another one of those spheres and hurl it at him.
Baliss’s ability was just too insane!
The ability was simple and unadorned, yet brutally powerful. It was physical force in its purest form.
