Chapter 69: Ch 69- Cang Lan Base
Twenty days later.
The convoy was finally close to Cang Lan Base.
During the journey, everything had gone smoothly. They had not encountered any unexpected situations or powerful beasts that could threaten the convoy. Although they had traveled through a large part of the wilderness, the Martial Hall clearly knew the safest route.
Mo Yuan had spent most of the journey inside one of the carriages, cultivating and resting. However, after staying inside for several days, he finally felt a little bored.
Right now, he was sitting on top of one of the carriages, enjoying the fresh air. The wind blew past his face as he looked toward the enormous base in the distance.
His eyes widened slightly.
"So this is Cang Lan Base?"
Mo Yuan had already heard a lot about large bases from Mu Jin, but hearing about something and seeing it with his own eyes were completely different things.
The entire Cang Lan Base was surrounded by enormous walls and above those walls was a huge transparent bubble that covered the entire base.
Mo Yuan immediately recognized it.
’This should be the formation Mu Jin talked about.’
According to Mu Jin, this formation was used to protect the entire Cang Lan Base. It could defend against attacks from powerful beasts and even some powerful cultivators.
Mo Yuan couldn’t help feeling curious when he looked at it.
’This is basically the defensive formation I’ve read about in those xianxia novels.’
He had never imagined that he would actually see something like this with his own eyes. However, the defensive formation wasn’t the thing that shocked him the most.
It was the buildings inside the base.
Mo Yuan stared at them in silence. There were countless Skyscrapers inside Cang Lan Base.
Compared to Cang Lan Base, Dong Hai Base looked almost like a small town.
In Dong Hai Base, most buildings were only two or three floors high. Even the tallest buildings were nowhere close to what Mo Yuan was seeing now.
’This feels like I’m back on Earth.’
Mo Yuan couldn’t help thinking.
The difference between Dong Hai Base and Cang Lan Base was simply too massive.
Dong Hai Base had a more primitive feeling, while Cang Lan Base looked like a modern city from his previous life.
There were huge roads, tall buildings, Cars and people coming and going.
’It really was a good decision to move here.’
Mo Yuan smiled.
With better resources, stronger cultivators and more advanced facilities, he believed his future development would be much easier in Cang Lan Base.
After another fifteen minutes, the convoy finally arrived at the main gates.
The huge gates were several hundred meters wide, allowing large convoys to enter and leave the base.
However, before entering, the convoy was stopped by the guards.
"Identification cards."
A guard walked over and checked the people in the convoy one by one.
Cang Lan Base had its own identification system.
Without a Cang Lan Base identification card, it was impossible to do many things inside the base. For example, buying land or opening a bank account required a proper identification card.
Mo Yuan had already prepared for this. He took out his Dong Hai Base identification card and handed it to the guard.
The guard looked at the card and then looked at Mo Yuan.
"You can’t use this identification card inside Cang Lan Base."
Mo Yuan wasn’t surprised.
"I understand."
The guard handed the card back.
"Once you enter the base, you and your sister need to go to the Ministry of Home Affairs and apply for Cang Lan Base identification cards."
Then the guard noticed the Void Cat sitting on Mo Ran’s shoulder.
He pointed toward her.
"As for that beast, you’ll also need to register it."
"Go to the Beast Association and get an identification card for it."
Mo Yuan nodded.
"Thank you."
After checking everything, the guards finally allowed the convoy to enter.
The huge gates slowly opened, the convoy moved forward and officially entered Cang Lan Base.
The moment they entered, Mo Ran’s eyes widened. She looked around at the countless skyscrapers and busy streets with excitement.
"Brother, look! There are so many tall buildings!"
She looked around in amazement.
"It feels like we’re in a completely different world!"
Mo Yuan smiled as he looked at her excited expression.
"Don’t worry. You’ll soon get used to it," said Mo Yuan.
Mo Ran nodded, but her eyes were still looking around curiously. Everything in Cang Lan Base was new to her. The tall buildings, wide streets and people walking everywhere made her feel like she had suddenly entered a completely different world.
After that, both brother and sister headed toward the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The process of registering was much easier than Mo Yuan had expected. They simply reported their names, showed their Dong Hai Base identification cards and filled in some basic information. After that, their information was entered into the system and new identification cards were issued.
The entire process took less than ten minutes.
Mo Yuan looked at the identification card in his hand and nodded.
’The Human Federation is really efficient.’
Compared to the complicated procedures he had imagined, everything had been surprisingly simple.
"Now we should get Kitty’s identification card too," said Mo Yuan.
Mo Ran nodded and followed him.
The two soon arrived at the Beast Association.
Unlike the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Beast Association was quite different. There were many large passages and special areas inside the building, clearly designed for dealing with beasts.
Mo Yuan looked around before following the staff member who was responsible for beast registration. The entire identification process for Kitty was handled in the basement.
Mo Yuan wasn’t surprised by this. After all, a beast could easily cause trouble if it was allowed to wander around freely inside the association.
Kitty sat quietly on Mo Ran’s shoulder while the staff checked her information and registered her.
While waiting, Mo Yuan looked toward the upper floors.
He couldn’t help feeling a little disappointed.
’It’s a pity I can’t go up there and check if there are any beasts with good talents.’
His Copy and Paste ability could scan talents within seventy meters. If there were powerful beasts with good talents nearby, he could potentially copy them.
Unfortunately, the beast registration area was located in the basement and Mo Yuan couldn’t simply walk around the association looking for beasts.
He quietly scanned the area around him.
However, there wasn’t anyone with a talent worth copying within seventy meters.
’Looks like I’ll have to wait.’
Soon, Kitty’s registration was completed.
The Beast Association gave her an identification card that contained her basic information and registration number. With this card, Kitty would be recognized as a registered beast of Cang Lan Base.
Mo Yuan put the card away.
"Let’s get a Bank Account now, then we will go to buy a house," he said.
Mo Ran’s eyes immediately lit up.
"A house?"
"We’re going to live here from now on, so we need a proper place to stay."
The two siblings left the Beast Association and walked toward the nearest branch of bank.
