Wen Yan stretched out his hand and beckoned to Valak, signaling him to come down and talk, and to stop putting on airs.

As the sixty-second of the so-called 72 Demons on that side, that’s honestly kind of pathetic.

Maybe it’s just different habits; in the Divine Land we’re not that into bragging in big red letters about how awesome we are. Win a big war and it’s a few characters; wipe out twelve states, and if you get one full line of record, that’s already giving you a lot of face.

But lose once, and the records can’t wait to list out even the exact number of carts of grain delivered by logistics that day, down to the last unit.

Take a loss once, and they feel a single scroll isn’t enough, they’ll give you a whole separate volume.

Over here in Europa though, they love all kinds of boasting—how gloriously they won, how unbelievably badass they are, and a bunch of titles that all sound very badass.

Put that here, and this so-called badass sixty-second Demon God is just a guy who gets his ass kicked on a daily basis.

It’s only because of certain traits, or maybe differences in philosophy and rules, that he hasn’t been beaten to death yet.

Wen Yan’s thoughts turned; thinking of how he’d just destroyed one of Valak’s bodies and the guy barely reacted, he figured killing this fellow for good was probably not that easy.

Now that he knew who he was, driving him away would be easy, but Wen Yan wasn’t very interested in that.

He doesn’t really like Sealing, and he doesn’t like banishing either; once he starts, he prefers to just kill these things.

Since he couldn’t kill him, and since they don’t share the same turf and have no particular conflict, then forget it. If Valak was willing to cooperate a bit, he could just ask for some intel.

The surroundings were still flickering; the Power here was completely countered by Wen Yan. All those twisted things, the foundations that supported this little Domain’s existence, could no longer bear Wen Yan’s Explosive Great Sun with added Blessing, not to mention his Power now carried Purification on top of that.

The tragedies in the small Domain that kept repeating and deepening the resentment, twisting the Ghosts’ will, had just been greeted by a dimensionality reduction strike.

The entire little Domain was forcibly broken open and forcibly purified.

After the scenes around them flickered a few more times, the bright lights vanished, replaced by ruin and deathly silence.

On the completely exposed bulkhead walls all around, the symbols and patterns from back then still remained perfectly intact.

In the hall, there were only some twisted, blackened bones piled together, and in the center a pool of viscous black stuff, like crude oil, giving off a weird and unsettling smell.

The only thing here that looked out of place, with a strangely orderly feel to it, were the six skeletons kneeling around the center; they maintained the posture they had in life, and back when they were alive they were probably holding something in their hands.

Other than that, there was nothing special.

Valak, who’d been squatting in the corner up on the ceiling, had his name called; even though he didn’t know who the other party was, he immediately gave up on any other plans.

He crawled down from the ceiling, straightened his clothes, and craned his neck to look at Wen Yan’s phone.

"Eastern Exorcist?"

"You mean the one on the phone? Or me?"

"Both."

"It’s not entirely accurate, but explaining it clearly is hard; you can think of me as an Eastern Exorcist.

As for this one, he’s a friend of mine, not an Exorcist.

Mm, he’s a doctor."

In the hospice ward at the hospital he was absolutely a core member; the title on the paperwork was indeed "doctor," he got doctor’s salary and bonuses too, so calling Gauss a doctor was perfectly fine.

Hearing "doctor," Valak lost the desire to question further; even his expression turned a bit friendlier.

Back in the days when he was still active, quite a few doctors over there were partners he highly valued.

After all, if he went and killed some big shot, the Church and those Exorcists could hunt him for a hundred years.

But back then, when a doctor bled some big shot like livestock until he died, the Church would only say that the big shot had been harmed by a Demon.

Since the Demon was going to take the blame whether it was his doing or not, they might as well cooperate with the doctors of that era.

Because if they did it that way, people over there would just pin the blame on them verbally; they wouldn’t actually go crazy and chase them nonstop.

Hearing he was a doctor, and that he even knew his name, Valak naturally felt some goodwill.

"Are you a doctor too?"

"I can be."

Valak nodded. A doctor, plus an Eastern Exorcist, and his friend even knew his name.

Valak relaxed all at once; no wonder he’d felt almost no killing intent even before the guy knew his name.

Valak straightened his clothes and gave a bow.

"Hello, Exorcist from the East, I am Valak.

Let me state again, what’s going on here has nothing to do with me.

I don’t even know why I was summoned over by a Lost Soul.

I also don’t know why I can’t leave.

These Easterners weren’t killed by me, they were killed by those Cultist Evil Spirits.

They even wanted to get rid of me.

They are followers of a Witch, nothing to do with me."

"I get it. One of the Lost Souls who was killed started begging a Demon for help, calling names one by one, and you were the only one who responded."

Wen Yan replied casually; this part of Valak’s story he actually believed.

A guy whose underlings all ran away and refused to work with him anymore—just from that you can tell how miserable he’s been.

Wen Yan genuinely believed he couldn’t pull off a scene like this; he really didn’t have that kind of skill, or that kind of luck.

"Come on then, tell me: what’s the story with this place? How’d it end up inside the Divine Land Central Region?"

"It’s all followers of the Witch, maybe some others too, but anyway it has nothing to do with Demons and Devils.

There are Exorcism Runes drawn in Mithril here; little demons can’t even get in."
