Chapter 122: Moon Vampire
Two days passed.
Lucian didn’t leave the room. He meditated, trained his new abilities in the Sea of Consciousness, and took shifts watching Clara. Her evolution was slower than his — she hadn’t gone through the brutal preparation of a Full Vampiric Transition. Her body was reshaping itself gradually, cell by cell, like a caterpillar dissolving inside a cocoon.
On the evening of the second day, Clara’s eyes opened.
They were silver now. Like moonlight given form.
She blinked slowly. Her lashes — now pale silver — fluttered against her cheeks. She tried to push herself up, and the sheet slid off her bare chest, revealing skin so smooth it looked like glass. Every scar she’d ever accumulated was gone. Erased. Replaced by skin that practically glowed in the dim hotel room light.
"Lucian?"
Her voice was hoarse. Weak. Like she hadn’t used it in weeks.
Lucian’s eyes opened. They glowed golden — Primordial Sight activating instinctively — as he turned toward her.
The data filled his mind.
Clara Duncan.
Age: 20.
Race: Moon Vampire, Evolution Complete.
Bloodline: Moon Vampire Bloodline, Ancestral Grade.
Cultivation: Late Core Realm.
Abilities: SS-Rank Gravity Manipulation, SS-Rank Lunar Authority.
She looks so beautiful.
"Lucian."
She tried to stand. Her legs buckled. She reached for the nightstand to steady herself and missed.
Lucian caught her before she hit the floor.
"Whoa— easy, easy—"
"Calm down, love." His arms wrapped around her waist, holding her upright. Her skin was cool against his palms. "You just finished your evolution. Your mind is still adapting to your body right now. Give it a minute."
Clara’s silver eyebrows furrowed. She looked down at herself and confusion flooded her face.
"What— what happened to me?"
"Your bloodline evolved." Lucian guided her back to the bed and sat her down gently. "When I turned you, my Origin Vampire bloodline interacted with a dormant bloodline inside you. The Moon Goddess Bloodline. It was sleeping inside you your entire life. My blood woke it up."
Clara stared at him. "I had such a bloodline?"
"Apparently." Lucian pulled a chair beside the bed and sat down. "As expected, you weren’t aware. Neither was Ryan. I asked him about it yesterday."
Clara’s silver eyes widened. "Ryan has one too?"
"Dormant. Like yours was. He doesn’t know what it is yet."
Clara leaned back against the headboard. Her hand found Lucian’s and squeezed. Her grip was weak but warm.
"Have you and Ryan ever met your mother?"
Clara’s expression shifted. She looked at the ceiling, her silver eyes unfocused, searching for something that wasn’t there.
"My memory of her is vague. I remember her voice. The way she smelled — like lavender and something else." She paused. "I know she left after giving birth to Ryan. We only had our dad after that."
Lucian processed this quietly.
She’s likely not from Earth. No one on this planet possesses a Sovereign Grade bloodline. The Moon Goddess Bloodline is too high-tier to originate here.
He squeezed her hand back.
Clara looked at him. Her silver eyes were beautiful in the dim light, but there was worry in them.
"Lucian. The finals. I need to train. I need to—"
"You likely won’t be able to participate."
Clara put on a confused expression. "What do you mean?"
Lucian just smiled.
Three hours later, the hotel training room.
"What the fuck?!"
Clara’s scream echoed off the training room walls. She stood in the center of the room, both hands raised, trying to summon ice. Nothing happened. She tried again. Nothing. She tried to summon her Psychokinesis.
Nothing.
"What happened to my ice and psychokinesis?!"
Lucian sat on a bench against the wall, one leg crossed over the other, watching calmly.
"They evolved," he said. "Into SS-Rank Gravity Manipulation and SS-Rank Lunar Authority. Your old abilities — Ice Control and Psychokinesis — are gone. Replaced."
Clara stared at him. Her silver hair fell around her face. Her hands were trembling.
"Gone? What do you mean gone? I’ve been using Ice Control since I was sixteen. It’s my core ability. It—"
"It’s not your core ability anymore. The Moon Goddess Bloodline rewrote your biology entirely. You’re a Moon Vampire now, Clara. A new subspecies. Your Star Palace needs to be reignited from scratch."
"From scratch?" Clara’s voice cracked. "I spent four years building my Ice Palace. Four years. I had three stars lit. Three. And now they’re just... gone?"
"The stars collapsed when the bloodline evolved. The energy was absorbed and reformed into something new. Gravity Manipulation and Lunar Authority. Both SS-Rank. Both more powerful than anything your old palace could produce."
Clara’s hands dropped to her sides. Her silver eyes were wet.
"I worked so hard, damn it," she whispered.
Lucian stood up from the bench. He crossed the room and stood in front of her. He cupped her face with both hands, tilting her head up to meet his crimson eyes.
"Clara. Listen to me. You just evolved into a bloodline that rivals Ancestral Grade. Your potential is higher than almost anything on this planet. Your old abilities were A-Rank and S rank. What you have now is SS-Rank. The ceiling isn’t just raised. It’s shattered."
Clara’s lips trembled. "But I don’t know how to use them. I’ve never used gravity. I’ve never used lunar anything. I have five days until the finals."
"Then you learn."
Clara stared at him.
"Fucking hell," she whispered.
Lucian kissed her forehead. "You’ll figure it out."
Clara closed her eyes.
"I’ll learn gravity manipulation well enough to be useful. Even if I can’t master lunar authority yet. I’ll figure it out."
Lucian smiled. "That’s my girl."
Clara punched his shoulder. "Shut up and who’s your girl?"
They sat down together on the training room floor, cross-legged, facing each other. Clara closed her eyes and tried to feel the gravity around her.
Nothing.
She tried again. Nothing.
This is so frustrating—
The training room door burst open.
"Clara!"
Ryan stood in the doorway, breathing hard, eyes wide. He’d clearly been running. His eyes locked onto Clara — her silver hair, her glass-like skin, her changed presence.
"You’re awake!" He crossed the room in three strides and wrapped his arms around her in a crushing hug. "I was so worried—"
Clara hugged him back. Her face buried in his shoulder.
"I’m okay, Ryan. I’m okay."
Ryan pulled back, holding her at arm’s length, his eyes scanning her from head to toe. His hands gripped her shoulders.
Ryan looked at Lucian. Then back at Clara. His eyes were glistening.
"My sister is alive. That’s all that matters."
Clara laughed and hugged him again.
