Chapter 121: The Mind Palace
After cleaning up the room and putting on new clothes, Lucian sat on the edge of the bed watching Clara sleep.
Her breathing was steady now. The silver veins beneath her skin pulsed faintly with light, like moonlight trapped under her flesh. Her hair was now streaked with silver.
Rose stood at the door, her green eyes flicking between Clara and the destroyed room.
"I’ll go tell Ryan she’s okay," Rose said quietly. "He’s has to be worried sick cus I had to call him before coming here."
Lucian nodded. "Tell him not to come up here. She needs quiet."
Rose hesitated then she left.
The door clicked shut. Silence settled over the room.
Lucian turned back to Clara. His mind drifted.
That space. That void. That throne.
The figure shrouded in darkness.
He was related to my bloodline. I’m sure of it. Lucian scratched his head. And he’s probably the one who gave me the system evolution quest.
He leaned forward, elbows on his knees.
But what did he mean by "it’s not yet time"? Not yet time for what? To meet? To talk? To—
He growled in frustration and ran both hands through his silver hair.
Useless. I can’t figure it out with the information I have. Damn it.
His eyes flickered gold.

Lucian raised an eyebrow. Charm? What the hell do I need charm for?
He moved on.

Their current emotions, their immediate plans, what they’re about to say next. The thoughts come as faint whispers in host’s mind. Requires sustained eye contact of at least two seconds. Targets with strong mental defenses or higher cultivation feel a slight pressure and may instinctively break eye contact. Requires mana and mental energy.
Star 2 — Mind Spike. Pure mental attack. Projects a spike of mana into consciousness through eye contact. Intense pain, disorientation, three-second stun.
S-Rank Spell — Loyalty Bond: A permanent mental connection between the host and a willing or subdued target. The bond doesn’t control the target’s actions — instead, it makes the host’s approval feel emotionally necessary to them. Disappointing the host causes genuine distress. Pleasing him causes genuine joy. The target retains full free will but their emotional landscape is permanently reshaped around the host as a central figure. Can be broken by extremely strong willpower or by another mental ability of equal or greater rank, but it requires active, sustained effort to resist. Host can feel when a bonded target is in distress or danger.
B-Rank Spell — Telepathic Link: Creates a permanent two-way mental connection with a willing target. Both parties can send thoughts, images, and souls to each other silently across any distance. No range limit once established. The link feels like a private room inside both minds where they can communicate without speaking. Host can maintain multiple links simultaneously but each additional link costs mental energy to sustain which costs mana.
Lucian sat in silence for a long moment.
SS-Rank Mind Manipulation. A Mind Palace with two stars ignited. Mind Read. Mind Spike. Loyalty Bond. Telepathic Link. And the palace is at two out of nine stars.
If I ignite all nine... what the fuck would that look like?
He dismissed the thought and pulled up his full status.

He ran his tongue over his fangs thoughtfully.
